Wikia Images[edit]

I see that you have uploaded many images from the Kirby Wikia, which the Kirby Wikia has not been too pleased about in the past, but seeing that you are from Wikia, I am wondering if you obtained permission from the Kirby Wikia for you to upload their images here. If not, or if they do not let us use their images, the images will have to be removed, so please let us know whether you obtained permission from the Kirby Wikia. T.c.w7468 16:14, 3 June 2012 (CDT)

I'm uploading those images from wikia for a reason because i don't have the game. Plus, i'm not to very interested in other stuff besides Muppets, Kirby, Mario and other nintendo games.--Julian 17:27, 3 June 2012 (CDT)
Hello. I'm speaking for Kirby Wikia. Things like this have happened in the past (link). First and foremost, the images themselves are copyrighted under Nintendo / HAL, and their use on any wiki should qualify under fair-use. That point is fine, but if you are indeed muppet wiki admin, then you should well know that content on Wikia is released under cc-by-sa 3.0, so whether you have the game or not, copying images without attribution is breaking the terms of use. As was made clear on her talk page, Vellidragon deleted the said images in the previous case. I believe she gave several other images attribution with a statement stating where they are taken from, as well as a link to the file page under the File namespace (isn't that the uploader's work instead of troubling administrators in the first place?)
Wikirby's inter-wiki policy for images asks for a very reasonable thing that should apply both ways.
<edit> @ T.c.w7468 - Sorry, I forgot to clarify - To the best of my knowledge by looking through Special:RecentChanges and Special:Logs on Kirby Wikia, permission was not sought beforehand by any anon IP contributor or registered user. Changtau2005 12:56, 5 June 2012 (CDT)
