Images from Wikia[edit]

Hello there. Although we appreciate your edits and creation of the page HR-D3 with resourceful content, the image you uploaded is taken from the Kirby Wikia, and such an action is strictly forbidden on this wiki, and has caused some issues in the past with them. Please note this in the future, and do not upload any more images taken directly from the Wikia, else you may be banned. Thanks and happy editing :) T.c.w7468 18:07, 8 March 2012 (CST)

I apologize for that; the vast majority of my wiki experience is with Wikipedia, which has unusually lax fair use rules, generally being fine with a fair use image taken from any source as long as it's low-resolution, relevant enough to a certain page (and just that page) to keep on it, and not able to be duplicated with an image under a license that qualifies for similar usage restrictions to the site itself; failing one of these ends up with it being deleted (this has happened before to an older artwork image of Marth from Fire Emblem after I added a newer one from Shadow Dragon, which was replaced itself). I'll check out this site's image rules when I have the time because even though I've had my account for a while, HR-D3 is my first article and that page and the boss's entry on the Return to Dream Land template are my only edits here (I have accounts on several NIWA wikis, but activity from me varies between them). Anyway, I don't have anything to upload screenshots, so I probably won't do much image uploading here unless I become able to, but I'll probably do some minor edits from time to time like I generally do on wikis in general. --GastonRabbit 19:20, 8 March 2012 (CST)
I read the image upload rules. In hindsight, a stricter image rule is better for a fan site for a copyrighted work of fiction, since stuff from official sources is always covered by fair use and images made by users are essentially their work (in hindsight I should have checked to see if it came from an external source itself that could have been used if it were on the list of allowed sites) even though the source isn't. I mentioned Wikipedia's lax rules to mention what I'm used to; I have nothing against the image rules here since they're better suited to fan sites for works of fiction while Wikipedia's more lax restrictions work for it because it was intended as a source for general information rather than being more specific like the NIWA wikis so only stuff from at least decades ago won't be in the public domain so for newer stuff (including works of fiction) while everything not in the public domain or an original image from a user (such as a graph, diagram, or photograph).
