Interwiki Table & Wanted Pages

For some odd reason, zw:Special:Search/ZW is on the Wanted Pages. The link comes up blue and leads to ZW as it's supposed to, but leads to a ZW search with "ZW" as the search terms. Nothing links to this, so I'm guessing that's why it's on the Wanted Pages... that's my guess. Austin (NIWA Operative) 15:44, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

The Interwiki tables are one of the things here I never figured out. Good to see your editing issue has been resolved. Sorry I wasn't around enough to look into it. Axiomist 04:47, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
I apologize that this is very, very old. But i figured out how to fix it. Enter a "null edit", which is a edit in which nothing has changed, but you hit "save" anyway. Tacopill 00:07, 24 November 2010 (CST).

Impersonator

Yeah, I've heard of this impersonator. He attacked the Mario Wikia yesterday under the codename "StoobenRooben. If they strike the Kirby Wikia, they will be blocked instantaneously. When he does strike, (if he does), I'll request an immediate I.P. address check on the user. When I get the I.P. of he user, I'll give it to you guys and the staff to see who is behind this. All I know is that this person knows about NIWA and are planning to take down our fellow wikias such as the aformentioned Mario Wikia, Zeldapedia, Arwingpedia (I don't know why), and Kirby Wikia. The user many even be one that has an account on the NIWA wikis. Don't worry though, we would've not expected you guys in the first place, you guys are more mature than that. ;) Gamefreak75 (Talk)

I'm glad to hear that. If we can get that IP we can determine who it is at NIWA. I'm leaving the possibility open that it might be one of the bored youngest members. Others might think it's someone from Zeldapedia or Wikitroid, trying to get other Wikia members to flame the other wikis. It could go either way, and if we find out it's someone with a staff position at NIWA, we could discuss removing that person, if it's a regular member-we can discuss making sure he/she is never staff. Axiomist 22:45, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
That sounds good. I think I'll just obtain the I.P. address right now and stop this. I'll give it to you ASAP. Gamefreak75 (Talk)

Images

I don't think that there should be a big deal with the image situation. Since Kirby is a small franchise, there are limited sources for pictures such as official artowork. The only images that should not be copied from Wikai are screenshots and anime episode pictures. Official artwork is the only images we should have the same. Gamefreak75 (Talk)

Wow, that would be a relief, I could ease up on the new members. Is it an agreed upon statement at your wiki? I'd like Blue Ninjakoopa to confirm. Edo and I were just talking and we don't want the editors here to just go take every image they can find from you guys. So I guess we'll be neutral on that. Like we won't be taking those images ourselves nor telling anyone else to do so; but we won't have to hound them for their source. Axiomist 06:38, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

My Contributions and Such

Hey :3 Thank you so much for your comment on my talk page, I feel honoured that you like my contributions so much. To answer your question, I'm not on any NIWA or other Wiki staff at the moment, nor have I ever been. I have been contributing to (and watching the Recent Changes at) the MarioWiki for several months though (not full-time, just when I get the time to do so); I suppose most of my Wiki knowledge comes from there, though I've also been looking at (and occasionally editing) other Wikis with high quality standards, like Bulbapedia. Again though, thank you for the comment :3 (On an unrelated note, while I'm at it, the Enemy Infobox still isn't working properly for me; I don't know if you saw my comment on the talk page, it basically explains what the problem is.)--Vellidragon 21:55, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm going to look into that infobox issue before doing any other work. I'm surprised I missed your response. 01:45, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Ability Table

Hi. (Maybe you recognise me from ZWiki.) On my page I made a table for te abilities in KSS, KNIDL, KAM, KSS, & KSSU. Kirby in Dreamland 2 and 3 both have a few abilities, but buddies that alter the abilities. Kirby64 hascombo abilities. How do you sugest I do those three games? Do you know what abilities were possible in KDL1? Ember Incubus 00:11, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Glad you came to help, of course I recognize you from ZW. And I love that table project you have going, I'll get those images up in a few so you can use them. I don't have DL1 yet, but I'll be ordering every Kirby game soon.

Axiomist (talk) 00:17, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Thankyou very much. Also, should I fuse KSS and KSSU, or add Kirby's Adventure? Ember Incubus 00:22, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
I don't think we figured out a set way to handle all of the remakes, For now you can try whichever manner of presentation you think is best and hopefully you'll help shape this site's future policies, layouts, etc.

Axiomist (talk) 00:28, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey thanks!

Hey wazzup, (hi fives Axiomist), I really thank you for the nice comment on my discussion page, which I couldn't reply because I'm a rookie in the this stuff of the edits, edits, and all other stuff... related to edits... But basically I have NO acknowledgement of all this stuff, I want to make the articles like the one of The Great Cave Offensive, but I feared that I was going to do something like a Cyber-Katrina on the Wiki, or whatever is the name of the tornado-thingy that spiked America up to... down to it's doom, BUT NO! CAPTAIN AMERICA AVOIDED THIS! Wait... has Katrina been on America? oh and the thing whit "whit" is that I'm not exported from America or the USA, I'm from Panamá, the place where the Isthmus of Panama lies whitin (or whatever)Italic text

but thanks for the comment and not being like those mean guys from Narutos that rejected him from society>:0 Gioum 02:03, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

(returns the hi five) Glad to see you came back! Well there's a ton of guides to bore oneself with, but I find that the best way to learn things on a wiki is to just jump in and do things you want to do. It's almost impossible to destroy a wiki, bc if something goes wrong, we can just revert the edit, at the click of the mouse. For the easiest manner of getting into it all, there's plenty of pages in the Stubs Category to tinker with. One thing to keep in mind is that we try to be cool and approachable, so if anyone gives you advice on something, it's meant to be helpful and never mean. Your sense of humor is obviously great and like I said, I'm hoping you'll help spice up the style here :D Cuz we all know the only thing better than articles to read are articles that are interesting and fun to read!

Axiomist (talk) 02:15, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Also, if wiki-html coding isn't your forte, you can also add images for pages. A list of them would be in the following page. Category:Image requested Ember Incubus 02:37, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, GameFreak75 is right. I named this place, paid for it, and resigned a staff position at ZeldaWiki.org to focus on running it. My best skill there, I think, was helping people find what suited them best. I consider myself a people person and I think I'm pretty good at reading people.

Copy Chart

The templates that were needed were already decided, along with the general style. For some reason, the coding in other wikis do not work in this wiki, so I had to reformat and test some things. The point of the Style/Data templates is so a single data template can be ued in diferent places by simply chaning the Style template. For intance, you can have a infobox for Firesword, a box saying how to create the fire sword, or a chart coparing it to the Galaxia. (Ex: , , & .) It is a under used and under aprecaited technique. P.S.: I have not been answering my talk page because I am in canada on a buisnes trip, and it may take a few more days longer. -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 22:55, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

If I heard correctly, Bulbapedia does something like that.If we can use the template on more than one chart-I'll love it! One thing I want opinions on is changing the element cell to type and the elemental ones can say "elemental-fire" or whatever. Anyway, enjoy your trip, I was just wondering if you were able to get the talk page posts or not. I never used the redirected User Page, so I wondered if there was an issue with the message notifications.

Axiomist (talk) 23:38, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I added a few more abilities and made a example of the infobox on my sandbox. The infobox can be used on the page of the ability. Sorry that it says my Sandbox's name, it says the name of the page it is on. I can adjust the colors if you want. Notice how the only difference I made was by changing the {format}. If you can show me were the Bulbapedia has that, I can compare and borrow some html ideas for the better. (I never really cared for Pokémon. Hay, I jut got the "é" from the bottem of the edit page. Cool in a nirdy way. =P) The way I see it, the chart can go on the Copy Ability page or on talk pages, the infobox will go on every Copy Ability's page, and the Compare template can go on almost every page. I'll make the compare template later. Another example of how compare would be is by comparing Burning and Fire. (What games they were and weren't in, what their effect to fire-element-sensitive things were, and when they combined in a game IE:SS, KSS, and SSU.) I also made the changes to the ability templates and the header that you asked for. If there is anything else, let me know. By the way, I wrote this like three times because the bad internet here stoped twice. -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 23:25, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
I don't have anything really to say about what you were talking about, but I do have something that can help you if your internet sucks. It's called Lazarus, and it stores whatever you type into forms in Firefox. That way, if it crashes, you can open it back up, right click, and choose the form you were entering. TA-DA! All your text LIVES!!! =D It's great for wiki editing. Speaking of which...I suggest we add it to the front page under "recommended downloads." Losing an article can be VERY frustrating._Neo(U) (T) (C)(Home) 23:50, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi, I noticed that you logged on an didn't reply. So I'm just wondering if you got the messeage, since Neo alo replyed so maybe you didn't see the message before it. Please let me know. Oh, and thankyou Neo, the tool is very useful. -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 22:57, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for not responding, I was online, but also doing laundry talking to people, cleaning out my email, etc a busy day over here :p. Anyway, I'm not too familiar with Bulbapedia, nor pokemon in general, one of their admins casually mentioned that their tables were made from a slew of templates. I haven't looked at the pieces thoroughly, but my last (current) issue with the final result is how oddly and awkwardly fitting the cells are. It seems they'll stretch vertically by default and this sorta throws the whole thing out of sync. Are you able to expand the cells that would need more room for horizontal lists (example: the enemy providing the ability lists)?

Axiomist (talk) 01:39, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes I have perfect control over all of the cell sizes. Click here to see the current sizes. Tell me what sizes you think I should change them too. If you change them manualy, you have to change the [Template:StyleCopy Ability style page] too. -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 18:10, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Ah, ok, that's cool then. I do recommend you give templates fluid widths (percents-instead of pixel sizes) as much as possible. That makes it easier on other browsers, screen resolutions, etc. Sorry I haven't really been able to help you with these things much. I think you're capable of putting it together without me tho. My main focus right now is to get some content generated so newcomers don't feel so overwhelmed by the amount of pages needing to be created.

Hey! A while back (around May), I had accidentally created an account called Kirby234, as I had forgotten I made this account in February. Would you block the account and change its name to something like "NoName234"? Turboo 04:39, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

It hasn't harmed anything, but we can scramble your password to it, thereby killing the account. I'll look into that option.Axiomist (talk) 05:13, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Border-radius

What's up with the "-o-border-radius" property? Opera never had an -o- prefix. It supports the property without -o- in front of it. In fact, "-o-border-radius" doesn't even work in Opera! Sheesh, you Firefox fans sure do love your prefixes ;). Oh yeah, sorry if you're not responsible for this. I don't know who is.Nosig|User:Static|Static|7 September 2010|18:30 UTC

Wasn't me! Actually if the page history does say I did it, I once checked Bulbapedia to see if they had all of the browsers we had in the code and saw one or two that we didn't have and just copied it verbatim. I'll look further into Opera options later this week, but thanks for bringing up the issue.Axiomist (talk) 00:28, 8 September 2010 (CDT)
I've been pointed to the correct template from my talk page. I'm new here so I didn't know what went where, so I already fixed that. Odd though, some people think they know a lot about web design, yet make mistakes that are quite obvious, though I must say, Opera isn't really used at all, and I did have to look at the source to determine that the problem existed. Not usually what a normal visitor would do. In fact, I won't be surprised if I'm the only one using Opera on here. Thank you for your help though.--Static 12:24, 10 September 2010 (CDT)
I keep the assumption that I know nothing about webdesign. My thing is to look up whatever I want to try and ask as many people as I can get a hold of whenever I want to try something new. I just checked our Google Analytics data, 477 visitors over the past month use Opera, (below IE, FF, Chrome, and Safari). Not the lowest on the list, Blackberry, Playstation, PSP, and some browsers I never heard of were much lower.Axiomist (talk) 14:48, 11 September 2010 (CDT)

Pikmin Fanon

Hi. This is Volatile Dweevil from Pikmin Fanon. Just to let you know, Sir Pikmin has responded to your comment on this Pikmin Fanon forum. Volatile Dweevil

Awesome, glad to see you here too! I informed Porplemontage of the message and asked him if his offer to host Pikmin Fanon still stood. I'm optimistic that he will post again and hopefully help set you guys up. I was wondering if you guys have spoken to the Wikia Pikmin staff on working together as a united Pikmin independent wiki? Or is there a reason that wouldn't be a possibility? It'd be great if they did, since I'm certain the two wiki staffs are familiar with each other. Axiomist (talk) 22:12, 9 September 2010 (CDT)
I just messaged Porplemontage on MarioWiki. Is he active there? Anyways, to answer your question, I was thinking that we could split pikminwiki.com into subdomains, for Pikipedia (Normal Pikmin Wiki), Pikmin Fanon, and maybe some more pikmin wikis later. I asked Porplemontage if the users and/or admins and/or bureaucrat of the wiki(s) would be able to edit the actual html coding and add non-wiki web pages. I'm personally waiting for his answer at MarioWiki before we go ask Pikipedia. Volatile Dweevil 00:51, 10 September 2010 (CDT)
I'm not entirely sure of his activity levels. But I do know that he keeps in touch there and on the Mario Wiki forums at least periodically. The subdomain idea is cool, I don't know the specifics but I would think there's a tradeoff to consider. On one hand it's a greatest way to split the fanon and canon content. On the other, it may require people to make accounts at both and not everyone would appreciate having to do that. With a canon/fanon namespace one account could edit either. But if the most important thing is to split up the nature of the content, then that's the best option. Axiomist (talk) 14:48, 11 September 2010 (CDT)
Not meaning to interrupt, but Bulbapedia does something which allows you to only make one account, which would be able to log into all three wikis. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 17:12, 12 September 2010 (CDT)
I didn't think to update this, but Porplemontage has the integration completed. Logging in will only require one account. Axiomist (talk) 17:13, 12 September 2010 (CDT)
Good news! Dathen Boccabella told me that Pikmin Fanon, along with Pikipedia, will be accepted into NIWA on October 8th! Volatile Dweevil
Congrats! I undid your edit on the Affiliates page, bc of course I want to affiliate WiKirby with both PikminWiki domains. After all, I feel like I helped save that sweet style of PikminWiki and fanon.pikminwiki! I'll make an announcement on the Main Page that we affiliated as soon as I can. Questions

Sorry if this may seem off topic, but can you answer these two questions?

 1. Does it cost any money to install MediaWiki?
 2. Does it require any software to make a wiki?

I'm asking because if the answer is no to both, then I'll try to start a Chibi-Robo! series wiki on a free website hosting site (one that hosts every type of website, not only wikis). Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 19:52, 30 September 2010 (CDT)

MediaWiki is free to install. It's probably possible to create and run a wiki without any additional software on the average computer, but with fewer features than what you may be accustomed to. It does take a lot of debugging and technical problem solving. If you feel you are ready for that, I would suggest a test install of MediaWiki on your pc.
If you simply want to be a little more involved as a staff member of a project, or get more familiar with working in more than just the article body; I could use another patroller here. The one reason I thought you needed more time as a regular editor was that you often misspelled words, but I'm seeing staff qualities in your work here and at the other NIWA wikis I've visited. Axiomist (talk) 00:30, 1 October 2010 (CDT)
Thank you for answering these questions. For the staff question, I don't think it would be good if I became a patroller. My activity here is dropping as I join new NIWA aspirers, try to help WikiBound more, and get back to Bulbapedia. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 11:54, 1 October 2010 (CDT)
Understood. I don't mean to sound discouraging. If you do decide to start a Chibi-Robo wiki, at NIWA, we'll give you as much help as possible of course. I just recommend picking up more experience than in the editor role.Axiomist (talk) 11:34, 2 October 2010 (CDT)

Hi Axiomist. Today is game day (for the U.S. at least), so I wish you the best of luck and get those articles created. Gamefreak75 (Talk)

Yeah, later on, like when the world is awake later, I'll finish up that contest stuff. But I actually won't get Epic Yarn for myself until Friday, and will be more trying to keep up with basic grammar edits and all that during the week. I predict we'll both have the busiest wikis we've ever had. So I'm hoping to be able to stay on top of it all. Axiomist (talk) 23:33, 16 October 2010 (CDT)

I want to be one

I want to be an administrator. I really want to be one right now. I also wanted to make my user page just like an administrator's. <gallery>Plankton5165</gallery> 14:14, 17 October 2010 (CDT)

That's good to hear, but we don't give the job out so easily, You'll have to work hard here and your work should show that you understand the wiki and would make a good staff member. Which means you'll need to have enough experience to fix issues, answer questions, and stuff like that. We'll need to see you create great articles, expand stubs as much as possible, add high quality images, create or improve templates, and implement them. Axiomist (talk) 14:15, 17 October 2010 (CDT)

Progress

How is everything going with the merge? Sorry I haven't been on; as you may have heard, I'm very busy with looking for a job, college applications, and schoolwork. Right now we're on Step 2 of merging Arwingpedia with Lylat Wiki at the latter, and instead of jumping from here to there, I think it's best if I take car of said merge before we get down to business here, because there's a lot more work to do. What do you think? --BNK [E|T|C] 16:29, 31 October 2010 (CDT)

Well I haven't seen any final decision from anyone, didn't do anything to Megatron's contributions, deleted the site notice here since the topic waned, and haven't added any new articles myself since it'd be easier to rework things later as opposed to trying to merge two different texts. Since I see even the people supportive of a merge continuing to work on Wikia, I assumed the skin and rule changes were accepted and was thinking to set next Sunday as a deadline of sorts where I'd just withdraw my offer to merge. Mainly to give the topic some manner of resolution, so editors wouldn't have that instability hanging in the air.
I don't object to you finishing at Arwingpedia/Lylat Wiki first, "there's nothing that can be done so well the first time that couldn't be done better the second" (read that someplace). I do know that I won't be locking down WiKirby if I don't think its needed. If the Kirby Wikia editors and staff are ready, and we'd need some manner of resolution to point to Wikia to prove it was a community decision, then I'll start by ranking up the people, and we can begin the process. Axiomist (talk) 03:43, 1 November 2010 (CDT)
I see what you're saying, and to be honest, I think nothing is happening because none of us ever set up a meeting in a chat room or anything, and we can't find time to do so (you're free during the week, I'm not; I'm free during the weekend, you aren't). For now, I ask that you do not withdraw your proposal; Kirby Wikia needs this merge like cars need tires. I'm not sure why Kirby Wikia staff agree to merge but continue to edit, but I'm pretty sure they're editing to keep vandalism and other problems at bay. I'm going to put up a sitenotice letting everyone know that a merge will happen. So, you know, whenever we're both free, which won't be any time soon (I've got decreasing time on this computer as I type), we can get this all organized. In short, the glaring problem is bad timing. If we had organized for a merge this summer, right now we'd be the biggest online encyclopedia for Kirby on the web, LOL. I just asked Starman to set up a time with you to discuss how stuff will work. BNK [E|T|C] 16:36, 1 November 2010 (CDT)
I look forward to hearing from him. I'm not sure if you saw the message I left to Megatron, but I set up Kirby Wikia Archive as a namespace here. I figured if we move forward with it, we'll import the articles and histories, I read some MediaWiki topics on merging histories so, we'll be able to keep most edit counts intact. There will be a slight loss from templates, categories, and images that aren't imported, and Main Page work. I haven't looked for the What this wiki is not policy, but from the sound of it, I would approve of something of that nature. Axiomist (talk) 21:28, 1 November 2010 (CDT)

Yeah, It'd be great if you could make it transparent. Volatile Dweevil

Starfy Wiki

Hello User:Axiomist, a while back on Starfy Wiki from wikia, you mentioned that you had become friends with User:BattleFranky202 on Facebook and the thing is that we over at Starfy Wiki haven't heard from him in a while nor anything about Starfy wiki's future with NIWA, so if you could inform us of anything we'd really appreciate it! Also I tried to see if there was any word of it on NIWA forums but every time I try to enter it keeps giving me the same error message, so I really hope you can help, and again sorry to bother you. -The Forgotten Beast 20:51, 19 November 2010 (CST)

I love your timing, just before I got the notification that this page has been edited I was talking with Archaic. I haven't heard from Tappy who initially offered to host Starfy Wiki, but Archaic is willing to step in. Let's try to talk tomorrow and I'll have a clear idea of who's doing what and all, I've sent messages around and have some work to do tonight. Cool? Axiomist (talk) 21:00, 19 November 2010 (CST)
Of course. Thank you and again I apologize for interrupting anything. -The Forgotten Beast 21:13, 19 November 2010 (CST)
Not at all interrupting anything. :p I just thought it was odd that you posted during a Starfy Wiki discussion in skype. I'll try contacting BattleFranky202 on facebook again. Will you gather freshen the blog about it and all that on the Starfy Wikia. I'm in central US time, I plan to come back online around noon tomorrow to see where we are, but I'm 100% sure we can get Starfy Wiki started as an independent wiki whenever you guys are ready. We've also found an unbelievably awesome domain name for it. But posting it in public comes with the risk of someone else grabbing it first. If you pm me on NIWA, I'll tell you and you can find a way to tell the others in private messages.Axiomist (talk) 23:49, 19 November 2010 (CST)

Sorry I'm late, I've already started the blog on Starfy Wiki, so have you heard from BattleFranky? -The Forgotten Beast 18:03, 20 November 2010 (CST)

Yep he approves a Starfy Wiki move to becoming independent. I'll see who can set up a working MediaWiki page and we can get things going. Is there any way to contact you and the rest of the Wikia people, in like skype, email, im or whatnot, I mean if I need to give you guys a password for anything or whatnot, a public post won't be a good idea at all. Axiomist (talk) 18:30, 20 November 2010 (CST)
Yes of course! You can send me a private message through my youtube account afterwards I'll get in contact with the rest of the guys on the wiki, which mostly consists of me, StarLight, BattleFranky and Kegegamer... I'm also available through windows live messenger and facebook in case you wish to contact me through there instead and if you could let me know where I could pm you from let me know and I'll send you my email and ask the others at the wiki to send you their email addresses as well. - The Forgotten Beast 19:16, 20 November 2010 (CST)

Template question

Ho wdid you get the background for Template:KEYforms ? HavocReaper48 13:32, 21 January 2011 (CST)

File:WKPattern.png|rightThat question could mean a lot of things... Are you asking how I made the image? I pressed print screen on a page of the official Kirby site, pasted it to MSPaint, took a snippet of the background and ran it through the Gimp "Make Seamless" filter, then erased as much as I could along the dark edges of the puzzle pieces and carefully placed them so they would tile correctly, but have an off-centered look. If you mean to ask how to use it on another template here, see Template:Kirby'sEY, the source code in both templates show that I named the background wkpuzzle. If you mean something else entirely, like how to do it at another wiki, just let me know specifically what you want to do and I'll explain it better. Axiomist (talk) 11:29, 22 January 2011 (CST)
