Greetings[edit]

I see you've been pretty active already, especially in talk pages, and I appreciate you double-checking a lot of the names we were using for various enemies in the series. I would like to formally invite you to our Discord server, so you can post these findings in our channel without having to use the talk pages. If you do not have Discord, you can get it for free here: https://discordapp.com/

Our server link is here: https://discord.gg/4y9BPyj

While you are not required to be on our Discord server, it is a great way to get in touch with me, as well as other members of our community quickly and easily. Either way, I appreciate the work you've done so far. Keep it up! --Fubaka (talk) 22:26, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

Thanks, I appreciate it, though I think I've already pointed out all the major ones that stood out to me. Still, I'll keep it in mind if I have any more findings at a later time! AdieuLain (talk) 00:01, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
Aye. Keep in mind, our Discord is not only for discussing edits. We also share news (and goof around) in other channels. We'd like to have you on. --Fubaka (talk) 00:43, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

Regarding entity names[edit]

Greetings. I notice you asked in one of your edits what the preferred name to use for the article title ought to be when given several options. I don't think there has ever been a formal policy, but from what I can tell the priority is as follows:

  1. A localized English name (even if it's from an obscure place like an instruction manual or website blurb)
  2. A formal romanized Japanese name (i.e. from any Japanese sources)
  3. An internal name (such as those found in game data)

If none of the above can be found, the editor is at liberty to come up with a name for the entity, as long as it is a good descriptor of the entity in question, and of course in that case, the {{title}} template should be used.

Hope this helps some. Let me know if you have more questions. --Fubaka (talk) 21:40, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

That's the general idea I got, but I think I've also noticed a few exceptions every now and then so I wasn't sure. AdieuLain (talk) 04:00, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
An example of inconsistency: Anger Masker isn't Mask Enemy, but Festival Enemy isn't Don Puffle (ドンパフル). AdieuLain (talk) 16:15, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
I don't think we were aware of these names. Can you tell us where you got them from? --Fubaka (talk) 17:47, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
Sure. MaskEnemy and FestivalEnemy come from filenames in gfx/Step/Enemy; Anger Masker (アンガーマスカー) and Don Puffle (ドンパフル) come from concept images. AdieuLain (talk) 18:23, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
Neat. Didn't quite catch that, since I can't read Japanese :P . I will go ahead and change the article name on the Festival enemy to Don Puffle. --Fubaka (talk) 18:30, 12 August 2019 (UTC)

Wow![edit]

Nice editing! Do you like the new layout of WiKirby? I designed it specifically because the old one bothered me, and I thought it was time for the wiki to get a new one. :) Results May Vary (talk) 23:50, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

Yes, I thought things looked a little different! AdieuLain (talk) 04:00, 10 August 2019 (UTC)

Regarding the placement of trivia sections[edit]

Hoy AdieuLain. I should begin by saying you've been doing a good job on the wiki recently, so don't take this to mean you are in trouble or anything. I just noticed that you've been moving Trivia sections on pages around a bit. I understand it may be common practice on other wikis to have Trivia sections appear after the Gallery and Names in other languages section, but here at WiKirby, we prefer to place it before those sections. It helps keep the text together in a cleaner fashion (especially since some trivia sections can get pretty long). --Fubaka (talk) 19:15, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

All right, I'll keep that in mind. I'm used to trivia being near-last, especially since what can count as trivia can, sometimes, be a bit subjective or can be incorporated in a main section. AdieuLain (talk) 19:19, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
Indeed, I'm not a huge fan of long trivia sections myself, and I suspect that we ought to collectively decide on what the policy should be going forward with them, but that will be for another time. --Fubaka (talk) 19:29, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Patroller[edit]

Hoy AdieuLain. I'm looking to make some new Patrollers on this wiki, and I figured you'd be a good pick. Essentially, Patrollers have the power to roll back edits, and to "patrol" edits from other users (though this latter action is seldom needed since we aren't a super active wiki). Patrollers also gain access to the Discord's staff chat channel (assuming you are on the Discord). Are you interested in becoming a Patroller? --Fubaka (talk) 08:28, 8 September 2019 (UTC)

I'm interested, but one question: is it an issue if I don't really use Discord? AdieuLain (talk) 12:18, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
Not really. Discord is just a handy tool we use to talk, and not a requirement to hold any position on the wiki. I'll go ahead and add you to the Patrollers rank now. Congrats! --Fubaka (talk) 21:26, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
Thank you! AdieuLain (talk) 12:01, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

RE:Datamine Question[edit]

  • There is a sound file called N64_Ado_for_LimeDL.dspadpcm.bfstm
  • A folder is titled Adeleine. The textures for her model are titled things like AdoModel_AdoBodyC_BaseColor._1815044367
  • I am unable to locate the sticker, although IIRC they just use numbers. Former Patroller (talk) 00:30, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

Inactivity notice[edit]

Greetings, AdieuLain. Since you have not made a contribution since December 2019, it is my intention to remove you from the list of active patrollers at the end of the month unless you intend to return to activity soon. Keep in mind, this is not a demotion, as you will be allowed to return to Patroller rank at any time should you wish. Please let me know before the end of March 31st if you wish to return to activity, or if you want to step into inactivity early. --Fubaka (talk) 01:44, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

Discord invitation[edit]

Greetings, AdieuLain. I notice you left a treatise regarding your thoughts on the current naming policy. I've had a quick skim through it, and will have a response ready in the near future after some more close reading of it. That said, I think it would be helpful if you joined us on the Discord server so we could talk in real time about wiki issues and the like. Click here to join it. (if you do not have Discord, it is a free application that you can also get by clicking the previous link). --Samwell (talk) 00:11, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Appreciated, but even if I used Discord, I unfortunately foresee being a little too preoccupied in the immediate future, which is why I managed to leave it open on the wiki now for others to absorb and formulate their own thoughts (hopefully that is a decent place to put it since the original proposal affects the naming policy). If I have more time in a week or two, I'll consider it. AdieuLain (talk) 00:59, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Another note about inactivity[edit]

Hi! I hope you're well. It's been over a year now since you've last contributed to the wiki. This means we'll soon be removing you from the list of currently active patrollers and moving you down into "former staff", though you'll be able to return to your position any time in the future if you want. That said, if you want to keep your position altogether, you're absolutely free to respond to this message saying so within the next seven days. Otherwise, we'll go ahead and go forward with this.

Thank you for the work you've done here either way. We all really appreciate it! -- Jellytost (talk) 20:35, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

That was much more than seven days :p but, well, seeing as you haven't responded we're gonna go ahead and move you down into former staff. Thanks again for your work here, and remember that you can return to your position at any time. -- Jellytost (talk) 13:46, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
