Do we want to use this?[edit]

I recently came across this template since it uses an extension that's going to be deprecated at some point and then realized that it's unused (it has transclusions on pages, but never shows up because the parameters aren't filled) and hasn't been updated since 2011. I initially brought it up on the Discord before the discussion died, then came back to it and realized that since actually using this would require updating several infobox templates (along with possibly moving this template to mention that it's for levels specifically), it should probably be a full on-wiki discussion. I made a cleaner version on my sandbox, which works without the base template needing to be updated for new games, so the question is should we keep and start using this template (adding links to Strategy Wiki articles that may or may not exist to mainspace level articles) or not? ---PinkYoshiFan 19:42, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

WiKirby is largely written from a descriptive point of view, disallowing the practice of addressing and guiding players. This is a perfect example where another NIWA wiki can be embraced. Not only WiKirby should do this, but other NIWA wikis should consider this too. –Wiz (talk · edits) 23:37, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
I checked over on StrategyWiki a few minutes ago, and... some games have information filled out for levels and stages, but several more are filled with red links and marked as stubs. This sounds like a good idea in theory. You did good cleaning things up and I would be happy to link to another NIWA wiki for this purpose, but I'm not sure if it's worth having when there's not much information to link to in the first place, and no assurance that the pages will be created and filled out over there anytime soon. Anyone's free to go and have a look themselves. -- Jellytost (talk) 18:44, 27 November 2022 (UTC)
I didn't consider that they might not be complete on StrategyWiki, but that is a valid point. Looking at their Kirby navbox, maybe we could just do this for games with blue/green (level 3/4) guides? Also, maybe leaving level out of the template name would work out better, since some games (for example, K64) do it by stage instead of level, in which case changing the parameters on the template to area instead of level could be good. ---PinkYoshiFan 19:21, 27 November 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, that seems like a better idea to me. Good thinking. There are only six games marked with blue/green, which still isn't as many as I would prefer personally, but it wouldn't hurt to do this for those six. -- Jellytost (talk) 20:11, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

There doesn't seem to be any opposition to this, so I'll probably go ahead and implement it soon if nobody objects. ---PinkYoshiFan 22:02, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
