Move[edit]

This is a major move, so I wanted to discuss it before making any brash decisions. The gist of it is: both Kirby's Star Stacker and Kirby's Super Star Stacker have the same Japanese name. "Super Star Stacker", as an English name, comes from a list of upcoming SNES releases on Nintendo's website, but as the game was never released outside of Japan, this can only be considered a second-hand source. For a time, this was the closest thing to official we had, so it was fine to use it to distinguish the two. However, we now have direct English sources that acknowledge "Super Star Stacker" as simply "Star Stacker":

  • Gryll's sticker in Planet Robobot—it's listed as coming from Kirby's Star Stacker.
  • The official soundtrack release for Planet Robobot—track 1-47 is titled "VS. Chef Kawasaki (Kirby's Star Stacker)".
  • Most recently and definitively, Kirby Art & Style Collection—the English release distinguishes the two games as "Kirby's Star Stacker (Game Boy)" and "Kirby's Star Stacker (SNES)".

Because of this, we now have more sources that use "Star Stacker" than "Super Star Stacker". The main upside to using "Super Star Stacker" is that it prevents ambiguity and clearly distinguishes the two titles, but if we continue to use it, it'll be an outdated name. That's not necessarily an issue, but if we do want to stick to the latest official sources to avoid confusion, it would be best to use the qualifiers appearing in Art & Style Collection, in my opinion. Any thoughts on this? StrawberryChan (talk) 19:43, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

Support. The most recent name should take priority over something that was wrong. ---PinkYoshiFan 19:47, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
I also support the move. Following what the Art & Style Collection called it, we should move it to Kirby's Star Stacker (SNES). And, of course, note that Super Star Stacker was an unused localized name. Gigi (talk) 19:54, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
Support. Super Star Stacker is nice for distinction but is used strictly in pre-release material, making it essentially a placeholder name, as all post-release material have called it simply Star Stacker. (A similar case could be made for Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble 2; while not released anywhere it has the same Japanese name as the Game Boy version, and I have yet to see Tilt 'n' Tumble 2 used in any official sources.) --YFJ (talk · edits) 20:00, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
To my knowledge, the game was referred to as "Koro Koro Kirby 2" in the actual conference, it's just that the title screen used the same logo as the Game Boy one. Here's some Japanese sources where "Koro Koro Kirby 2" is used: [1] [2] [3]. And here's an English article also using that name: [4]. Because of that, "Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble 2" is a reasonable translation. StrawberryChan (talk) 20:25, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
Support per Strawberry. Superbound (talk) 08:35, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Bump. If this page is getting moved I would also like to remind mover to also moved other related stuff to it, like Category:Kirby Super Star Stacker images etc. etc. Superbound (talk) 15:05, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Hoy, since nothing has been done about this yet, I would like to offer my own suggestion. Perhaps instead of renaming this to Kirby's Star Stacker (SNES), we should use its romanized Japanese name instead, to help demonstrate that it is a Japanese-only game. Naturally then, the article would be called Kirby no Kirakira Kizzu. Just a thought. --Samwell (talk) 15:38, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

The issue there is that the GB version is also called Kirby no Kirakira Kizzu in Japanese, so it wouldn't do much to help if we didn't have a disambiguation page. StrawberryChan (talk) 17:57, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
