Should we have articles on all the Heart Star characters?[edit]

It just doesn't make sense to me to only have pages on the ones that are associated with the animal friends, like Mine and Pitch Mama. The others even have their own names that we don't mention (though most of which are derived from Japanese). The crossover characters could have pages of similar length, and would be similar to our Metroid page. Overall, I think we should handle these characters like Kirby FANDOM does. --DeepFriedCabbage 03:10, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

I guess my metric has always been whether or not enough could be said about them to give them their own pages. If you think they each could get an article of over 1000 bytes without filibustering, then I think you should pursue it. --Samwell (talk) 03:34, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
I also personally think that these characters should all have their separate pages. Why should only a handful of them have the privilege of being separate from the Heart Star article? That seems awfully inconsistent. Besides, if we ever do make articles dedicated to the Mangas or the Find Kirby! book, we're gonna need to document their respective appearances. Also, I'm pretty sure that DeepFriedCabbage is planning on making them at some point based on his to-do list. --AnnieCat07 (talk) 07:51, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

Seems there's a push again to get pages for all of these characters. I'm still not convinced this is necessary, and I suspect the pages would be too redundant, especially when considering that all relevant info on them can be found here on this page. The characters that do have pages tend to have them because there's more info on them than just their appearances in KDL3. I'm not sure the same will ever hold true for Name the snail. --Samwell (talk) 18:08, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

The only argument I can see for some of these characters is that they appear in some Kirby manga, otherwise, yeah, I don't think separate pages for most of them are needed. - Gigi (talkedits) 18:16, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
I did always wonder why the pages for the individual characters were deleted; I never saw the reason, but I guess them being too short to be substantial would make sense. If not individual pages, maybe a "List of Heart Star characters" would suffice? StarPunch (talk) 18:53, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
I agree that we shouldn't make any articles that are too short, but I feel like the crossover characters should definitely get their own pages. The animal friends' friends and family also have their own pages already, and those are long enough (and a few of them got the dress up masks). The subgame characters that aren't from other games I'm not sure about, but the rest could probably just be covered as a list like StarPunch mentioned. ---PinkYoshiFan 11:41, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
I guess ultimately my concern is that these'll just remain as red links for a long time, because nobody will really feel like making them. I'm generally of the mindset that if you define a red link, it means you intend to make that page sooner or later. As I said before, if you can get it comfortable over 1000 bytes and it's not too redundant, that's fine by me, but I'm not convinced yet that anyone's actually going to make these pages any time soon, and I don't really see a demand for them either. --Samwell (talk) 22:11, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
Bump. ---PinkYoshiFan 16:30, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
Looking at this some more, I'm not sure how well a list of Heart Star characters would work, aside from splitting off the table on this page. Several of them seem like they have no information beyond what's listed in the table and that can be gathered from their sprite, and the ones that do have pages already (except possibly the subgame characters). That being said, does anyone know which ones appear in the manga? I'm not sure that the ones that don't could get a full article about them. ---PinkYoshiFan 16:24, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
Bump ---PinkYoshiFan 12:38, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
Manga coverage on WiKirby is almost non-existent right now that I'm not sure how we would be able to see exactly which appear in manga and which do not, but can always check the Japanese wiki I suppose. Anyway, I still prefer the idea of a list of characters, because then we can just put their name, role, and if they appear after or are related to other characters or if they are cameos, because right now as a table it's basically impossible to talk about appearances outside of KDL3. - Gigi (talkedits) 12:47, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

I got a (rough) draft of a possible List of Heart Star characters here (only Grass Land so far), how does it look? ---PinkYoshiFan 00:12, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

Looks great. Being the splittist I am, I initially thought separate pages on each character would be best, and I planned to make them in the future. But since they're so minor and there's not much to say about them, a list probably works better. --DeepFriedCabbage 05:45, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
I finished up the list, except I'm not sure how to integrate the explanations of the names (currently in the name column here, but I feel like it would be better on the list of characters). ---PinkYoshiFan 01:16, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
Seeing the list... I don't think it's really needed. Each section has an average two sentences: first for a short description of the character, second for a "it gives a Heart Star if x is done". The former can be easily be incorporated into Heart Star, while latter is already on said page and actually is much less vague. So unless there's really anything else to talk about, I'm opposed to the creation of that article. Superbound (talk) 08:05, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
Personally I think we should format the page more like List of novel-exclusive locations. So basically the Japanese names can be placed like in that page. - Gigi (talkedits) 01:36, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

Bump once again. Still in favor of the split, in particular because as I started working on the page for the Find Kirby!! book, I found some of the Heart Star characters in an illustration. As such, very soon we will have new images of them, and they won't fit to be anywhere other than in the KDL3 gallery page or in this page, but imo that is outside the scope of this page. You can find my current draft of the page here if you are wondering. - Gigi (talkedits) 01:32, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

Considering that many barely relevant foes have separate pages, and that there will be something to say about what appears to be a significant amount of Heart Star characters soon, it seems reasonable to split, at least for the ones that do have Find Kirby appearances. ShadowKirby (t/c) a.k.a. your new overlord ShadowMagolor 13:41, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
I was originally opposed to the idea of splitting the Heart Star characters, but that was in the original context of them only having info about their game appearances. In light of them appearing in external material like the mangas and Find Kirby!!, it would be good to do a split. It looks like all that would really need to happen is to make red links on the page for the remaining characters to resolve this one. --Samwell (talk) 18:00, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

Similar to Talk:Costumes. I think splitting this into multiple pages is better. Even if the characters are so minor that they don't have much to say about them, they still exist as separate characters and provide info, which I feel qualifies for their own pages. ~☆Starvoid☆ (t · c) 18:08, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

I'm with Samwell and Starvoid here. My response from 4 months ago wasn't considering their appearances in manga and other material. We should give them all pages! --DeepFriedCabbage 06:54, 27 December 2023 (UTC)

Would anyone be willing to create those pages? If anything, we can use the Japanese Kirby wiki for reference too (for example, this is Tulip's page; scroll down and there is a navbox with them all). - Gigi (talkedits) 18:28, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

Bump. Anyone? - Gigi (talkedits) 18:51, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
I made a draft of a Tulip page (feel free to work on it), but I'm not sure how it could be expanded outside adding manga appearances. With some of them appearing in Find Kirby!! and mangas, I'm good with them getting their own pages, but I'm not sure if all of them could get over 1k bytes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pinkyoshifan (talkcontribs) . Would it make sense to add literature sections (not just for these characters, but for all in general) and specifically mention the details of the appearance rather than just have an image? It would solve some problems. ShadowKirby (t/c) a.k.a. your new overlord ShadowMagolor 05:35, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
That would definitely be good for any character that appears in the manga, although I'm not sure how we would be able to make sections describing Find Kirby!! appearances beyond a single sentence with what page they're on and their general area. ---PinkYoshiFan 17:27, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
I've taken a look and for Tulip, we can also mention how they are kinda referenced in one of the first missions of Forgotten Land. Maybe for Pitcherman, Caramelo and Mr. Ball we can cover them in their respective game pages already and just redirect those names to those pages. Worth noting that some appear in the credits illustration of the game, which doesn't look like we have in the wiki yet. Honestly, I feel we can make these pages slowly I suppose, starting with those we have images for right now in the wiki, and slowly build from there. - Gigi (talkedits) 22:57, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Also, it doesn't look like existing ones like Nyupun have big pages to begin with, so... - Gigi (talkedits) 17:46, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
It seems like the consensus is pages for all of them, so I can move the draft to mainspace and add links for the rest soon if there's no objections. ---PinkYoshiFan 18:14, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
