Name[edit]

Where does this article's name come from? As far as I'm aware, the area has no name in the game. A valid reference should be added after the first in-article mention of the title or it should be marked with Template:Title if it's conjectural. (On an unrelated note, the article really needs to be split into multiple paragraphs/sub-sections, it's very hard to read.)--Vellidragon 17:36, 18 June 2011 (CDT)

Splitting "The Mirror (level)" from Dimension Mirror[edit]

As per general consensus, I feel "The Mirror" (yes, the level from Kirby & The Amazing Mirror) should be split from this article. There's a lot of information that I believe is enough to constitute the level as a separate article itself, and most levels/stages have their own articles already. I should also note the following if we were to follow up with how we're gonna handle this:

  • The Mirror has no associated Area Map with it, so there's no need to make room articles for various things like the boss arenas and the in-between rest areas for Dark Mind's battle.
  • There are several rooms which act as in-between transitions between the several fights against Dark Mind. They have puzzles and I think enemies which give new abilities should Kirby lose any, and the puzzles usually lead to chests containing food (and I think batteries?). We should document on that more.
    • The rooms also change to different themes corresponding to the various levels. The ones I can recall are Cabbage Cavern and Peppermint Palace, but I'm not sure about the rest. Remember that there are three of these, and all of them play the Rainbow Route Central Circle song.
  • More screenshots from the Mirror level would be appreciated. I might do something about it should a new article for The Mirror be created.
  • We name the article as such because it its how it was displayed in the game. Don't rename it to Dimension Mirror as while it is called that in more recent material, it is still called The Mirror in its debut game.
  • Update: Here's the in-between segments for Dark Mind:
    • 1 - A room set in Radish Ruins (Big Ed reference) with a switch puzzle leading to a Maxim Tomato and a 1up. Flamer and Twister are present as enemies.
    • 2 - A room set in Cabbage Cavern where there is a set of four waterfalls. While the contents are not apparent until the end, Kirby can choose either waterfall and claim a prize. The leftmost waterfall contains a Maxim Tomato, the third waterfall has a cherry, and the rightmost waterfall has a 1up. The leftmost waterfall also ends with a Glunk for some reason. After a small tunnel featuring Gordo and a few spikes, The copy ability enemies are Sword Knight and Sparky.
    • 3 - A room set in Peppermint Palace where it features a small obstacle course with different devices like Switches, bomb block gates, and Spikes. There are Bronto Burts, Gordos, and Scarfies there. The Copy Ability enemies are Sir Kibble and Sword Knight.
  • Update: Here's the Dark Mind battle variations along with the attacks he also gains per rematch:
    • 1 - A battle on a flat space.
    • 2 - A battle on a ruins-like area with two ledges positioned on either side. Dark Mind also adds an attack where he creates two star projectiles on top left and top right, which target the player later on.
    • 3 - A battle set in an area resembling Cabbage Cavern. There are two shallow pools of water on either side. Dark Mind gains the ability to shatter and teleport himself around the area.
    • 4 - A battle set in an area resembling Peppermint Palace, with a layout similar to Battle 1 but the floor is completely slippery. Dark Mind gains the ability to use his revolving mirrors and spread them out to hit Kirby. He also drops a checkered bomb that pulsates, darkens the screen, and explodes with electric bolts, which I think are the ones that hit Kirby. Dark Mind also has a variation of the star projectile corner attack, which he also makes some on the bottom left and bottom-right. From my gameplay, I recall that the attack had three blue stars and a red star on the bottom right. He also has this pinch attack where he'd rapidly teleport and shoot one projectile per teleport.

I agree that splitting off the level would be good, although I do have a couple questions. First, as pointed out by Ultrby on the discord, where does the name "The Mirror" come from? It seems to be conjectural, although this could be fixed by just naming the page Dimension Mirror (level) or something like that. Also, how would the battle arena from KTD be handled with this? It's a playable area within the Dimension Mirror's world and is therefore probably the same area, but it's from a completely different game. ---PinkYoshiFan 22:38, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
While I'm currently researching the source of the "Mirror" being used as a name in Amazing Mirror, I've put together more details about the level (I ended up rebeating Dark Mind as a result for this), but I'm still on the search for the name either way. -- KatFL language C.svgKatFL language Y.svgKatFL language O.svgKatFL language N.svg (profile ::: talk) 01:58, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
Just here to second basically everything PYF said. I definitely want a split, as long as we approach the matter properly. I personally don't know what to do about the KTD arena though... ShadowKirby (t/c) a.k.a. your new overlord ShadowMagolor 12:10, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
Since this is a subject matter that is focused on the Amazing Mirror version of the level, I think it'd be best to explain such in a "References in later games" section or under the Dimension Mirror article itself. -- KatFL language C.svgKatFL language Y.svgKatFL language O.svgKatFL language N.svg (profile ::: talk) 11:51, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
Support the split. Personally I would split the AM level/stage first and then we can figure out what to do with TD. Personally though, I would still cover the TD version in this page, and the split page can focus on the actual level/stage from AM. - Gigi (talkedits) 01:37, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
I guess it could be split if there's enough info for both subjects. It would be bad if there was a stub. --Paistrie (talk) 02:40, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
I support the split of this. I think the Mirror as a level has a lot of detail and deserves it's own article. I think as a plot point it already does enough and it won't leave the existing article barebones if they were to be split. The Mirror is a big level, especially with it being the final level of the game and having multiple parts and I think the article can't expand as much as I'd like it to because of this article being merged with the level. - NVS Pixel (talk) 03:05, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
I see there is full support of the split pretty much. The split can either be done right away or someone can draft a page for the split page version. I will do that myself in a few days if that's not done before. - Gigi (talkedits) 18:01, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
Actually I currently have a lot in my plate right now. Could someone please finish the split? - Gigi (talkedits) 18:51, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
I made a draft, will implement soon if nobody objects (probably just reduce the current section on this page to a couple sentences and {{main}}). ---PinkYoshiFan 01:54, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
Made some minor fixes, it seems good to go. ShadowKirby (t/c) a.k.a. your new overlord ShadowMagolor 06:09, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
Right now, I'm currently thinking about moving the article to "Dimension Mirror (level)" instead as an official title. Ultrby has brought this up in the star-dreams-files channel on the Shiver Star Discord, and it's sourced from an Amazing Mirror guidebook in Nintendo DREAM. -- KatFL language C.svgKatFL language Y.svgKatFL language O.svgKatFL language N.svg (profile ::: talk) 05:00, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
I put the Japanese name for it and changed the draft a bit. I believe it should be ready to move for mainspace now. - Gigi (talkedits) 22:45, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Moved. ---PinkYoshiFan 01:50, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
