Kirby Pupupu Train Eki-melo Collection
Kirby Pupupu Train Eki-melo Collection is a Playbutton (pre-loaded MP3 player) containing music composed for the Kirby Pupupu Train promotion. It was released on December 15th, 2016, and sold at a price of ¥2160 ($14.10) (minus tax). It was originally exclusive to Kirby Pupupu Train locations, but later saw a general release.
Eki-melo, which roughly translates to "train melody", is a short jingle that plays at each specific station of Japanese railways. These jingles play when the doors are closing, serving to indicate that the train is about to move, as well as which station one is departing from. Each railway has its own dedicated composer that creates jingles for each station.
For the Kirby Pupupu Train promotion, stores are decorated to resemble fake train stations, which sell themed merchandise. Inside the store, special eki-melo music plays at regular intervals, collected on this album. The majority of the tracks on this album are eki-melo versions of classic Kirby tunes. The first track, meanwhile, is a unique arrangement of "Green Greens" and "Gourmet Race", which also plays inside the store.
No composer credits are given; the album was produced by the HAL Laboratory sound team.[1] Arrangements are based on work by Jun Ishikawa, Hirokazu Ando, and Tadashi Ikegami.
