"Yearning for Yellow (Vroom!)"[2] is a stage theme from Kirby: Planet Robobot associated with the cityscape areas of Resolution Road. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.[1]

Composition[edit]

The yellow vroom-vroom (on the left) in question.

"Yearning for Yellow (Vroom!)" is a cheery and upbeat theme in G major and 4/4, prominently featuring synthesizers and a mandolin. It starts off with an introductory progression functionally similar to that of "Vegetable Valley". The melody gives a false sense of a D major tonic with its main intonation, a falling perfect fourth, before the accompaniment resolves to G major proper; this tonal deceptiveness is also characteristic of "Venturing into the Mechanized World". The phrase ends revolving around the dominant in shorter notes. It repeats with minor instrumentation changes. A bridging descending minor section follows, preparing a modulation to A-flat major. Here, the melody repeats, once again with a sense of false tonic in E-flat. After this third iteration, the melody halts, and a brief chord progression returns the key back to G major for the track to loop.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]

"Yearning for Yellow (Vroom!)" first appeared in Kirby: Planet Robobot, playing primarily in Resolution Road as the main theme for its outdoor cityscape areas. It can be found as track 015 in the game's Jukebox.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]

In Kirby Star Allies, a variation of this theme plays when finishing a level in Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! and when watching the Credits in the Theater. This calm and slower version is a key lower and is played solely using piano. Here, the theme is named やさしさにまるストリート (Street Paved with Kindness) on Kirby Star Allies: The Original Soundtrack. This remix was done by the original composer, Hirokazu Ando, and can be found as track 226 in the game's Jukebox.

Other appearances[edit]

The original version of "Yearning for Yellow (Vroom!)" is used for the Japanese-exclusive "Kirby: Planet Robobot - A Day With Kirby and Secretary Susie" Nintendo 3DS theme.
