While a great many different subjects can be covered on WiKirby, many items will fall into the same sort of general categories. As such, there is a generalized layout policy that should be followed in most cases.

Beginning

At the very top of an article, before the main body of text begins, certain templates, such as infoboxes and notice templates should be used as appropriate.

From there, the introductory paragraph(s) of the article should begin. In regular articles, the first sentence should always contain the title of the article in bold text, preferably at the very start of the sentence, though circumstances can cause this to vary. A good article will have relatively meaty opening paragraphs which summarize the contents of the entire page, similar to an abstract for a thesis paper, though these should not be too long. Flowery and/or playful language should not be used in an article's opening paragraphs for the sake of brevity and clarity.

Body sections

After the opening, the article should be split into one or more sections depending on the type of subject matter. Sometimes, an "Overview" section is appropriate, particularly for stage and level pages. Other times, a "Game appearances" section should be used for things like characters, copy abilities, and enemies, though this is not as necessary if the subject only appears in one game.

If a page should be segmented into different uses of a particular subject, like a character who also serves as a boss, or appears in the anime, separate infoboxes should be used as appropriate, with additional infoboxes appearing further down in their appropriate sections. This may not be workable in all situations, however.

Trailing sections

After the main body text, articles are typically finished off with the following set of sections. Although use of these sections are optional, their order should be the same each time:

Trivia

Main article: Trivia policy

A trivia section is useful for stashing extra bits of information about a subject that do not quite fit into the other sections. Generally, trivia points are short blips of information spanning one or two sentences. Each trivia point should be formatted into a bulleted list like so:

Gallery

A gallery is a place where all all relevant images or videos pertaining to an article that were not used in the main body are put on display. Galleries can be split into sub-sections if need be. If a gallery gets particularly large, it should be split off into its own sub-page. (e.g. Kirby/gallery)

Names in other languages

This section contains the Names template, and names of the article subject in languages other than English can be placed into the table.

Ending

After all main sections are accounted for, a {{clear}} template should be used, and then the article should be ended with the following pieces as appropriate:

See Also

This section is a bulleted list that links readers to other related pages. This should only be used for pages that have very close relations. (more-so than just being in the same game)

References

If any citations were placed in the article, a references section should be added, with the {{ref}} template used within.

Navigation boxes

This portion of the article is for any relevant navigation templates. These can include templates for specific games, templates for characters, template for copy abilities, etc. Certain templates should be placed before others, and multiple game navboxes should be lain out in order of release.

Categories

At the very end of the article, links to categories should be added. Every article should have at least one category link, and these may be added automatically by certain templates, such as infoboxes. Certain large pages will tend to have dozens of category links, and those pertaining to specific games should again be lain out in order of release.
