Vegetable Valley is the first level of Kirby's Adventure and subsequently its remake, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. This level contains five primary stages, the least of any level in the game. There are also no Big Switches to be found in this level. The boss of this level is Whispy Woods and the museum Copy Ability is the Sword ability. The Sub-Game of Crane Fever can be played in this level in Kirby's Adventure, but is replaced by Bomb Rally in Nightmare in Dream Land.

Intro cut-scene

Before entering the hub for the first time, a brief cut-scene plays adorned in a violet frame with the level's name overhead in the scene. In the skit, Kirby and a Blade Knight are dueling atop a wooden walkway in the forest using swords. After a brief back-and-forth, the Blade Knight throws a quick swipe which knocks Kirby's sword out of his hand as he recoils. The Blade Knight then steps forward as an anxious Kirby falls back to the edge of the platform. Cornered, Kirby inhales, drawing the Blade Knight into his mouth. Kirby then swallows and gains the Sword ability as the scene fades to white.

Overview

Being the first level, Vegetable Valley is a light affair, consisting of only four relatively easy and short stages for Kirby to move through before facing Whispy Woods in Stage 5. The stages take Kirby through mild grasslands, shallow caves, a few pools, a few more rugged steppes, and then a deep forest area. Hazards such as voids and spikes are present, but not particularly common, and easily avoided. Enemies are also generally sparse and do not move very quickly.

Hub

The level hub for Vegetable Valley opens up linearly to the right as stages are cleared. Once Stage 1 is complete, access to the sub-game is granted, and access to the museum is granted after completing Stage 3.

The hub itself eventually opens up to reveal an open plains backdrop with small hills in the center bordered by large steep cliffs of grass on both sides.

Stages

Each stage is unlocked in succession after clearing the previous one. Clearing Stage 5 is necessary to move on to Ice Cream Island. For more information about a particular stage, click on the link to the stage's page in the table.
