VS. Gryll

"VS. Gryll"[derived from Japanese] is a music track that first appeared in Kirby's Star Stacker (Super Famicom), serving as the theme when battling Gryll.
Composition[edit]
"VS. Gryll" is a short and simple track with a heavy focus on its percussion, set in the key of F major. At its core, it is a slowed down version of the Mid-Boss theme of Kirby's Dream Land 3, which in turn shares similarities with "VS. Robo Dedede". It consists of two short sections, the first repeating notes similar to "VS. Robo Dedede"'s, but with a general movement in the opposite direction and without a resolution. The second consists of non-stop rising chromatic notes for three bars, rapidly modulating until they stop in the fourth bar, now with the resolution absent from the first section, and the drums transition the song to its loop.
Game appearances[edit]
Kirby's Star Stacker (Super Famicom)[edit]
As mentioned above, in Kirby's Star Stacker (Super Famicom), the theme plays exclusively when battling against Gryll in Story Mode.
Kirby Star Allies[edit]
In Kirby Star Allies, "VS. Gryll" can be heard in Duplex Dream's mid-boss battle.
Kirby's Dream Buffet[edit]
In Kirby's Dream Buffet, a fast-paced remix medley of both "VS. Chef Kawasaki" and "VS. Gryll" can be heard occasionally during Battle Royale matches. The first half of the song is very faithful to the original, while the second half takes some liberties with the melody, notably even including part of the melody of the first half at one point. This arrangement was done by Megumi Ohara.
