Greetings

Hello Vellidragon. Nice to see you here. =3 - Edofenrir( talk) 21:32, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

I must say, I'm loving your work here. You're obviously knowledgeable to wikis, and have pointed out the copy/paste job from Wikipedia. Moreover your writing, page layout, suggestions to template changes, and image additions are excellent. These are all very staffly qualities, and I'm wondering if you are on one of the NIWA wiki's staff? Axiomist 19:08, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Patroller

Congratulations. For your good work you have been promoted to the Patroller rank. Welcome to the team. =3 - Edofenrir( talk) 20:20, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Hey, dude, I've been noticing some of you edit summaries, and I wanted to let you know that you occasionally come off a bit harsh. Try to be constructive and friendly so the editors don't feel intimidated, alright? :) Other than that, you're doing a GREAT job patrolling! Keep it up!_Neo(U) (T) (C)(Home) 23:00, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Congrats

Congrats on your promotion :3 perhaps you know me from the MW  :) --Tucayo 15:50, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you :3 I'm honoured. I'll make sure to use my powers well :3 And yeah, I know you, but doesn't everyone though? ;3 --Vellidragon 22:46, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
HMm... Now that I think of it... Are you in the NIWA Forum? Because if you are you should be listed as WiKirby Staff. --Tucayo 14:10, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
I didn't know there was a main NIWA forum until now x_x I just looked it up and signed up there, though, as I figured I probably should. (Username is the same as here (and nearly everywhere else).)--Vellidragon 15:01, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Wow, I thought you had known but chose not to join it. I'll pass the message along if you aren't ranked up now. Axiomist (talk) 03:44, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
I added you ;) --Tucayo 19:00, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
OK, thank you :3 --Vellidragon 13:19, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Reporting a bug

I was going to but a new version of a image of Chip, so I went to upload, then the templates were VERY squashed, and the text were so small, I had to see the keyboard just to get it right. Any solutions? --Joey 5:57 PM, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Hm, it's messed up for me as well. This appears to be a technical issue with the Wiki code, so there's not much I can do about it. I reported the bug at the staff board, though, so someone with the capabilities of fiddling with the code will hopefully fix it in the near-ish future.--Vellidragon 19:43, 15 August 2010 (CDT)

Main Page work

Hello, I just added a Wanted Pages template to the Main Page, and was wanting you to have a look and see if any further adjustments are needed for your screen resolution. After I changed my res to the lowest setting I noticed a gap still exist at the bottom of the right margin, which could hold another small template. My normal res shows the right margin slightly longer than the left. My next move will be to try to change the Videos box to make it a little more consistent between the resolution settings. Axiomist (talk) 08:44, 18 August 2010 (CDT)

Hm, looks fine to me. I see no real problems with it currently. There's a rather tall gap below the Wanted Pages box and to the left of the video one for me, though; not sure if that's the gap you're talking about. As for the rest of the page, it looks fine to me atm, although the right golden wing image of the News box is below the "WiKirby News Box" text instead of to the right of it because it doesn't fit into the box otherwise; not quite sure what could be done about that, though.--Vellidragon 13:12, 18 August 2010 (CDT)

New topic

Just passing along an alert to a new topic in the staff discussion that I hope you and everyone else will take interest in. I'm hoping to implement it this weekend.Axiomist (talk) 22:25, 24 August 2010 (CDT)

Check User

Special:CheckUser is the new tool you have access to. I've only used it twice or so when EmmaWatson spammed, and when Turboo asked to block a second account (which didn't show up). So I'm not so familiar with it to write up the UserRights page on it, but if all of those new accounts adding images and nothing else have matching IPs we might as well block them, if it turns out we blocked a legitimate user, they still have the NIWA forums to inform us on and the reversal is simple enough for them.Axiomist (talk) 15:00, 4 October 2010 (CDT)

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday, according to the skype alert! Anyhow, I think my work week is returning to normal, which means I can finally get things done here. Thanks for holding down the fort with the recent deletions and all! Axiomist (talk) 21:19, 14 November 2010 (CST)

Thank you :D The Skype alert is correct :p And that's good to hear. I do what I can to take care of stuff here, though that's not much with all the Kirby's Epic Yarn edits lately that I can't really patrol without actually having the game or any deeper knowledge about it :\ --Vellidragon 16:03, 15 November 2010 (CST)
No sweat, I bought the game, but haven't had a chance to even rip it out of the plastic. But feel free to ignore them, I'll play it soon and work on it all. Axiomist (talk) 19:47, 15 November 2010 (CST)

Period Spacing

Meh, that's just how I've always done it. (<-2 spaces, :O) I never really knew it was thought of as inefficient until I looked it up a minute ago. (<-again, :O) But still, it's not really a big deal... you don't have to overreact over such a small thing.:P Edit: I suppose it would be serious if done it bulk. Austin (NIWA Operative) 20:20, 16 February 2011 (CST)

The problem here wasn't so much the edit itself as the edit reason, actually, telling other people to also put two spaces after a period (especially with that statement coming from the head patroller); had to clear this up before more people started doing it :p --Vellidragon 12:05, 18 February 2011 (CST)

Maybe A New Kirby?

Well, since there's only Ireland, US, Ireland, and Germany. I might want a Ukraine one. Though I ain't Ukrainnian, I have Ukrainnian blood. Maybe do Ukraine Kirby? --Joey 4:49 PM, February 22, 2011 (EST)

Sure, I'll make one later today; the flag only has two colours, so it shouldn't take long :3 --Vellidragon 17:00, 22 February 2011 (CST)

Last one, Polish Kirby. Simple. Joey

Eh, perhaps tomorrow :P I don't want to edit that page so often, so I'll put it on there when I have a couple other country Kirbies done (well, they are already done, actually, but not their userbox colour schemes :p).--Vellidragon 15:08, 23 February 2011 (CST)
Done and even stranger looking than the rest. Apparently, the Polish flag's white is actually a light grey from the way the colours are officially defined.--Vellidragon 15:42, 24 February 2011 (CST)

Well, gee. My families blood baseline is nearly all Italian. Wow. --Joey

French one? And plus, they're slow because they eat snails. BADABING. Joey
Please stop requesting these if you're not actually going to use them. These take quite a bit of work and time, and I'd rather be spending that on things that are needed.--Vellidragon 21:11, 4 March 2011 (CST)

Axiomist

hiya vellidragon..

i'm sure you heard about the passing of Axiomist..which has hit me very hard emotionally, since i was very close to him. i always tried to prove myself to him yknow, so i could become an admin, and he always said it was a possibility, since it he needed more admins, which made me happy. i wanted to gain respect generally from a community, but now i just want to make sure i'm helping his wiki be the best it can be.

since he's gone now..i dont have anyone to talk to from the wiki regularly, someone else to prove to. He asked me to design the WiKirby mascot, I dont know if you know about it, but if you think I'm making it up, I'm not.

all I want is to make my big bro proud, so if you have skype or msn..please take the time to add me and get to know me..thanks..

--HeathyChan 12:58, 23 March 2011 (CDT)

Hallo. Yes, I know about it, and it hit me just as hard. I know exactly what you mean; I always felt pretty much the same, even though I'm already an admin. I know about the mascot thing, though I don't know what Ax's plans for that were, unfortunately; I'm not sure about a lot of his plans for the wiki, actually, though I for one will be doing my best to keep moving forward with it, hopefully with the continuing support of the rest of the remaining staff and the community. As for Skype and talking, there is a public WiKirby chat on Skype (also see WiKirby:Skype, though that page is terribly outdated) that I could invite you to, though I would need to know your username on there.--Vellidragon 13:24, 23 March 2011 (CDT)
hey, yeah, my skype name is robburrowlover, and thankyou so much for acknowledging my grieving, I think Ax couldve told me a few plans, but i'm not sure, he and I discussed the appearence of the mascot and stuff. Its all we talked about..oh the good old days..--HeathyChan 13:46, 23 March 2011 (CDT)

Comrade!

Are signatures allowed on this wiki, camarada? Nibbles 03:23, 5 April 2011 (CDT)

They are :3 Just abstain from using images in a sig though, as they're generally found to be distracting.--Vellidragon 10:13, 5 April 2011 (CDT)

Long Time, No See

So...yesh. I'm back and I CAN'T wait for the Kirby Wii to come out. :D

So, I wonder if you can make a Brazilian-American Kirby? I'm really Brazilian American, and I know it could take some time, but it would be worth it since I am gonna really put it on my homepage. --Joey

Welcome back! I can wait, as I likely will hardly get to play it, like with Epic Yarn, and all it means is that even more things have to be covered when we're not even nearly done covering the games that already exist ;_; *kicks a stub in frustration*
As for that Kirby, I have no idea how that would look. Just a country Kirby with half of the Brazilian and half of the U.S. flag? Please specify.--Vellidragon 18:19, 18 July 2011 (CDT)

Yes, Half of Brazil on one side, US on the other side. Doesn't matter which side is which. --Joey

Ok, here it is: clicky! Just fused the already existing U.S. one with the Brazil one, but with a nicer transition. Looks kinda odd, but meh :\ U.S. flag is on the left so the stars are visible. Wasn't sure if you wanted it on WiKirby as well or just on your homepage. If you need it here, feel free to upload it. Please let me know when you've uploaded this anywhere though so I can delete it from my own webspace.--Vellidragon 19:02, 18 July 2011 (CDT)

Can you put it in like a template like you do with the other Kirbies? Joey

You can easily do that yourself by copying the code of an existing userbox and changing it accordingly; that's why the userboxes aren't hardcoded in the first place. You probably know better than I what colours you want, etc.--Vellidragon 11:21, 19 July 2011 (CDT)

Help Me!

Hey, uh... how are you supposed to "rank up" or whatever? I mean, I've been contributing a LOT lately, and it's not really doing anything. :-{ --Catulaster 16:07, 4 August 2011 (CDT)

It doesn't happen automatically and it has nothing to do with your amount of contributions. Users may be promoted (i.e. made part of the staff) by a bureaucrat (i.e. me) if the staff (i.e. me :\ Everyone else left or isn't particularly active) considers them worthy of a promotion; making very good edits and showing understanding of the site's standards and the general internal workings of a wiki are a requirement for that. There is no "ranking up" system; I guess the wording on the help page for this is rather confusing, which I apologise for; I believe our help pages were initially taken from a different wiki and not all of them are flawless. Anyway, I'm not yet seeing the "understanding of the site's standards" very much in your edits, but I'll be watching your contributions and if they improve, you may eventually be promoted :3 --Vellidragon 16:19, 4 August 2011 (CDT)
EDIT: The guidelines in the help are partially outdated, as far as I'm aware, so you may want to look at how things are usually done and figure out standards from that; in particular, check out some articles I made and the featured Kirby's Dream Land 2 page to get an idea of style and such. I'm really sorry our help pages aren't as helpful as they should be and will be working on them when I get around to do so :\ --Vellidragon 16:23, 4 August 2011 (CDT)

Contractions

Hey. Sorry if it seems like I'm taling too much, but sorry for my abundance of contractions. It's just in my blood (I guess) to use contractions while writing. Is there any way for me to delete said contractions without deleting EVERYTHING ELSE that I've edited?! --Catulaster 10:53, 5 August 2011 (CDT)

No need to be sorry as long as you try not to use them in articles anymore :3 As for getting rid of them, unless you inserted them in a seperate edit, the only way (as far as I'm aware) to revert them without undoing other things is to do so manually for each contraction (in a new edit, as opposed to using "undo" on the old one). Ctrl+F may help you find them more easily, though (when I was "uncontracting" some contractions yesterday, I searched for ' (apostrophe) and cycled through the results; this of course finds the bold & italics code and the genitive 's as well, though, both of which should of course remain intact).--Vellidragon 14:01, 5 August 2011 (CDT)

Who Knew?

Wow. I had no idea the universe would hate me for providing a resource for Kirby artwork on a Kirby Wiki. Apparently I had done everything wrong-the images I uploaded were the wrong file type, they weren't transparent, and everyone on the wiki already knew about the site (although little to no anime artwork was uploaded). I've always disliked Wikipedia, Mario Wiki and others because of how the wiki "government" controls every page, complains about every user when "This is a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit," and undoes most edits. I have no doubt you will respond to me with hate, remove my comment from your discussion page, and possibly even ban me. Once I AM killed-I mean, you remove me from the wiki, I hope you can take time out of your busy schedule of "patrolling" to put the artwork in photoshop and remove the horrible white background that ruins the entire image. --Triple D is awesome 13:47, 7 August 2011 (CDT)

Uploading images in the right format and with transparency right away, especially seeing how it's a wiki-wide standard, shouldn't really be asking too much. I don't quite understand your problem here; apparently, you are asking me to let everyone do what they want without following rules or standards? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what an unorganised mess that would result in. Insulting me for enforcing standards in order to prevent Wikirby from becoming a mess really wasn't necessary. WiKirby, like other wikis, is indeed a "free encyclopedia that anyone can edit", but that doesn't mean that you should edit it if you're not planning to cooperate and actually enhance the site by following existing standards (not to mention you are agreeing that other people may change your contributions by submitting them, as is quite clearly explained at the bottom, so don't complain about your edits being undone. If you want to do whatever you like without running the risk of adjustments being made, maybe a wiki is not the place to go (and if you are going to insult people and throw false accusations around every time you receive critique, it definitely is not the place to go)). Thank you for your concerns about my schedule, but be informed that it mostly consists of having a life rather than "patrolling", so I would still be grateful if you did not unnecessarily take away my time. I am afraid I'm not going to ban you, but I will have to warn you to stop your aggressive behaviour.--Vellidragon 14:38, 7 August 2011 (CDT)

^ Sorry 'bout that

I have a rare medical condition (which I'll keep unnamed for privacy purposes) that can result in low blood pressure and crankiness, among other things. That said, I probably should stay away from talk pages (esp. the admin's) when I need to raise my blood pressure. Sorry.--Triple D is awesome 17:30, 7 August 2011 (CDT)

It's alright :3 Sorry if I seemed harsh above, I had no knowledge of your condition and was just doing my job in telling you to stop. But yeah, you should probably stay away from user talks at those times :\--Vellidragon 18:05, 7 August 2011 (CDT)

Yes, I did upload the artwork in PNG and transparent, check out the page here. :3 I'm also uploading the artwork for Whispy, Ice Dragon, Rick, and some of the villagers today. --Triple D is awesome 09:35, 9 August 2011 (CDT)

Yeah, I saw that you've been uploading transparent ones. These are looking great :3 Almost makes me feel like writing some anime sections/articles, but I have yet to actually watch most of the English dub episodes :p Added Masher's artwork to its page, though :3 --Vellidragon 10:23, 9 August 2011 (CDT)

As I have pointed out, there is a discussion about that on the talk page. Feel free to provide an official(!!) source there that refers to the game by that name (the Nintendo site still linked in the article itself calls it "Kirby™ Wii", for your information) there and an agreement on moving or not moving may be reached; no trustable source has been provided at this point and the current situation is not in favour of a move. Please stop moving the article or otherwise pasting it somewhere else unless this has been agreed on. If you don't voluntarily stop, I may have to temporarily block you from editing. Curiosity about upload error

While I was uploading the images for the Kirby Super Star Ultra table, it wouldn't allow me to name a a sprite of bandana waddle dee "File: BandanaSSU.png". I got this: You do not have permission to do that, for the following reason: The title "File:BandanaSSU.png" has been banned from creation. It matches the following blacklist entry: .*[Aa4][Ss5][Ss5].* For my own curiosity, why was this title banned? --Triple D is awesome 08:20, 19 August 2011 (CDT)

The word was banned because it's a swear word. I whitelisted a large number of innocent words including it, but didn't think of the possibility that anyone may want to put "SSU" after an "a". I'm going to try and whitelist it.--Vellidragon 09:24, 19 August 2011 (CDT)
EDIT: Done, should work as it should in the future. :3 --Vellidragon 09:30, 19 August 2011 (CDT)

Add to help

Sorry about embedding an illegal video, won't happen again. Out of curiosity and for my own personal gain as an editor, I looked over all possibly relevant sections of Wikirby's help and found nothing against illegal videos or linking to them. While I agree this should be a defined rule, we should add it to "help" so other users don't make the same mistake. I did find a Help:Youtube on Mario Wiki, which could be used as a reference for this but Wikirby will obviously have different standards. -Triple D is awesome 12:23, 25 August 2011 (CDT)

That's odd, I could have sworn we had stated this somewhere, but I can't find anything clear either :\ WiKirby:User Accounts does state linking to questionable content as a potential banning reason, though, which I presume anything illegal would fall under; should perhaps make that more obvious. The thing to realise here is that it's not WiKirby-specific, though, it's downright illegal (to my knowledge), so it should not be necessary to explicitly mention it here, as WiKirby is not exempt from the law; then again, it certainly won't hurt to mention it, necessary or not, so I'll look into that some time.--Vellidragon 13:37, 25 August 2011 (CDT)
An update on this! I was in fact not mistaken when I thought that we mentioned this in the help. This sentence is in the Quality Standards:
Do not put up links to online Manga translations, fansubs of Japanese retail videos, TV show episodes, or game ROM downloads.
That should cover it nicely.--Vellidragon 10:09, 27 August 2011 (CDT)

Uploading Assistance

I know it's kinda stupid for me to ask this, (mind you, I'm still a beginning editor) but how am I able to link a video to an article? (Sorry if you don't understand what I'm talking about) --CatuLaster 18:49, 26 August 2011 (CDT)

If you mean how to embed a YouTube video, use Template:Youtube; instructions are in the template documentation. Remember not to embed anything of questionable legality, though, like free anime episodes.--Vellidragon 09:27, 27 August 2011 (CDT)

Sorry, Sorry, And Sorry Again

I'm very sorry about that :( I didn't know deleting those would make me seem like I'm ignorant, or whatever. But, I have one thing to ask: When you redirect an article, the redirect takes you to a page with a normal link on it (i.e. Top Ride). However, other pages (i.e. Turn) take you immediately to another page. My question: how do you do that? --CatuLaster 11:14, 28 August 2011 (CDT)

It's ok. And you make automatic redirects by not putting anything else than the redirect itself on the page; the Top Ride thing had wikicode for italics around the link, breaking it. The redirect page must only consist of "#REDIRECT[[target]]", no wikicode or anything.--Vellidragon 11:58, 28 August 2011 (CDT)

Sorry about that

I'm sorry I deleted your your admin message. I deleted it because I understood what you were saying, and I promise it will never happen again. I hope you understand what I am saying. --Meta_knight_12 20:20, 08 September 2011 (CDT)

That's alright :3 There's no need to apologise, I'm just doing my job when I'm writing warnings or reminders. On an unrelated note, as I'm talking to you anyway, the Waddle Doo and Dee images on your user page appear to be fan art; if they are, please mark them as personal images as per Help:Personal Images and ensure you have usage permission by the creator if you want to keep them.--Vellidragon 14:36, 14 September 2011 (CDT)

Nintendo 64

Thanks for your help Mario (T·E·C)

You're welcome, but there's no need to thank me :3 Helping out with articles is (part of) my "job", really ;P --Vellidragon 11:30, 20 September 2011 (CDT)

Rename

Is there a place where you can get renamed? Mario (T·E·C)

No, but there's a person who can rename you :P I don't believe we have official rules on renaming, but I'll rename anyone who asks. Just let me know what to change your name to if you need it changed.--Vellidragon 12:19, 24 September 2011 (CDT)

Maybe just "Mario"? MB.!

Okay, done :3 --Vellidragon 13:53, 24 September 2011 (CDT)

Image Request

Vellidragon, could you supply me with an image for each Kirby Air Ride course? I mainly ask this because I'm editing from a cell phone, so I can't... proceed downloading images. Sorry, and thanks if you can. --Catulaster 15:45, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

Sorry, I wouldn't know where/how to get them without stealing them, and I have never even played Kirby Air Ride :\ I'd love to help out, but I don't think I have a way to do so. I can check if a Nintendo site has images of them, but I likely won't know which course is which.--Vellidragon 16:13, 28 September 2011 (CDT)
The UK website has screenshots of the game, but they're not captioned, so I don't know what courses they depict :< --Vellidragon 16:31, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

Names In Other Languages, Or Not?

Should every article, related to something that actually has another translation, have a Names In Other Languages section? I just wanted to know, for future reference, or whatever. --Catulaster 16:56, 18 October 2011 (CDT)

No idea what you mean. Everything with names in other languages should have names in other languages listed, if you mean that. Makes no sense to me not to list them if they exist (and they almost always do, at the very least in Japanese).--Vellidragon 17:46, 18 October 2011 (CDT)

Jerkweed?

The page title has been blacklisted, but Jerkweed is a common and important thingamajig in Mass Attack. Any chance you could please fiddle with that? Sparky 15:35, 23 October 2011 (CDT)

Thank you very much for informing me. It is, in fact, the word "weed" that is blacklisted, so everything containing that will also be blocked by default. I just added "Jerkweed" to the whitelist, though, so that should work now; let me know if it still doesn't and I'll look into it more.--Vellidragon 15:40, 23 October 2011 (CDT)
All is good. Thanks. ^_^ Sparky 15:53, 23 October 2011 (CDT)

Pictures

Hello Vellidragon. I'm one of the caretakers of Wikia's Kirby wiki, but that's not important. I just wanted you to know that the transparent pngs on the Kirby's Return to Dream Land article are taken from there.

Gamefreak (one of the older admins) loaded up high-res jpegs and and asked me to clean them up, and I spent several hours doing so via filters and background removal tools personally (using Corel Paint Shop Pro X3). Several of those pictures I uploaded myself separately and they are not found anywhere else on the internet - the transparent Lor Starcutter pic or the group character picture straight from the PAL / Japan box art front for example - I had to decompile Nintendo's original Flash files using a specific decompiler tool (Trillix) and recompose them. These processes modify the images in a specific way - removal of artifacts modify individual pixels depending on specific filter settings, and pixel-perfect recomposition of the images from separate Flash "sprite" data using Trillix means sometimes the final image attains a faint grey edge, and the images are extracted at Nintendo's original resolution. I checked the images for duplicity by sampling pixels and they have 100% matching, so there's no doubt about the primary image source.

With all due respect, I'm not asking for the images to removed unless that's how things are run - since none of us own those images and Nintendo holds the copyright, but according to Wikirby's inter-wiki policy I think Yarnkirby should have attributed the source of the image to the wiki at least when he/she uploaded them. I'm aware of the possibility that some third-party site might have taken the images as-is from Wikia, and Yarnkirby might have taken the pictures from there, so I really don't know.

On the flipside, if you happen to discover any pictures or any content for that matter on Wikia taken straight from Wikirby, please do tell me and I'll confirm the source with the editor and remove it if it's ripped straight from another wiki or Kirbypedia / KRR.

Cheers, Changtau2005 14:27, 25 October 2011 (CDT)

I had been wondering where those images came from, actually. Let it be known that this wasn't approved by me, nor was I aware of it. I thank you for informing me and will leave the uploader a message as soon as I can. You stated you're not requesting their deletion, but I can still delete them if you change your mind; I'm not particularly attached to them and they're all just in a random gallery at the moment, so this wouldn't be too problematic. I would like to avoid hostilities, so please do tell me if anyone over there wants them gone and I'll make it happen. What I will do in any case, as soon as I have the time, is properly attribute them. Thanks again for informing me of this, and do let me know if anyone steals images from your wiki again.--Vellidragon 14:40, 25 October 2011 (CDT)
Ah, no problem, and, whether they're deleted or not is really up to the decisions of Wikirby's admin team =) I just wanted to be clear that having them removed is not the intention of the message. For the record, I don't know where Gamefreak got the original jpgs from, and they don't look like scanned media. They might be for press-related institutions / publishing bodies or from e-book subscriptions or other restricted sources to which I have no access to.
Best regards, Changtau2005 15:36, 25 October 2011 (CDT)
Alright, I've notified the uploader and started attributing the images. If nobody is requesting their deletion, I currently don't see a reason to delete them, though it would certainly be nicer to display what is actually our own work here (we don't currently have an "admin team", btw, I'm really the only one :p). What I'm wondering about, though, is whether File:PuffballRtDL.png was also stolen, as it wasn't uploaded by Yarnkirby and we do have at least one other transparent image in the gallery evidently not from the Wikia (namely File:Kirby KRtDL.png). The PuffballRtDL image does resemble yours, but it appears to be a different file size (unless the displayed size on either wiki is off), so I'm not sure.--Vellidragon 13:34, 26 October 2011 (CDT)
Those two you mentioned are good; there aren't any duplicates on Wikia of current / previous uploads that I'm aware of. It's curious that KirbyKRtDL.png shares the same 3k by 3k resolution but I think it's purely coincidence. The one on Wikia is full-color depth and has less effective resolution than the version on Wikirby, which I think might be a png conversion from a 256-color gif file with dithering. They're definitely not the same files. Changtau2005 20:02, 26 October 2011 (CDT)
Alright, thank you very much :3 I won't have to issue any more reminders then. Thanks again for checking these!--Vellidragon 11:21, 28 October 2011 (CDT)

Plagiarism

Aside from the trivia, I think the Galacta Knight is okay, and the True Arena article looks okay, too. The story section from Kirby's Return to Dream Land‎ was taken from the Wikia's Magolor article. I took out the boss list, since it was probably copied, but for that content there isn't really any other organization method.

It looks like Keeby got the images from the Kirby Wikia, also, except for Keeby2.png. -Sky (talk) 22:42, 3 November 2011 (CDT)

...But you knew that already. XP I missed your edit to the Return to Dream Land talk page. -Sky (talk) 22:45, 3 November 2011 (CDT)
Ah, thanks for reminding me of the images. Didn't have much time lately, but I'll delete them now. I'll delete the Keeby one as well as it's fan art and, last time I checked, not marked as personal or used anywhere. (On an unrelated note, are you the same Sky as the Nookipedia lead editor? We have this ambassador user group which I believe is for non-WiKirby NIWA staff, though it hasn't been used much. I could add you to that if that's the case, it would autopatrol your edits and some other little things apparently (Special:ListGroupRights).)--Vellidragon 10:58, 7 November 2011 (CST)
Ok, I deleted what I could confirm was taken from wikia; unfortunately, I cannot find wikia equivalents of File:Magolors_soul.png, File:Magolor_Boss2.jpg, File:Landia.jpg and File:Magolor_Boss.jpg; while I have no doubt they were stolen from somewhere, I can't rightfully delete them without confirmation that they were. Did those images use to be on the wikia but have since been deleted? They're all very low-quality, so that wouldn't be unlikely.--Vellidragon 11:16, 7 November 2011 (CST)
Looking now, I don't see duplicates for those images either (one of them I thought was a duplicate was actually just very similar). There is a recent deletion log entry for a Magolor Soul image, so that one could be one of the images here. (And I am the Sky from Nookipedia.) -Sky (talk) 21:30, 7 November 2011 (CST)
Sorry to interrupt, but no, the four images you listed, Vellidragon, were not stolen from the wikia site. However, I think the File:Magolors_soul.png may have been on the site, but it's long gone now. Hope this clears things up. Gamefreak75 (Talk)
Thank you very much; I had been meaning to contact you on this, but I guess that's not necessary anymore :3 I suppose if they're not from the wikia, they can remain on here for now unless they turn out to be stolen from some other place. They will eventually have to be replaced anyway, as they're very low quality, so it's just a temporary thing in any case. Thanks again for looking into this.--Vellidragon 20:59, 9 November 2011 (CST)

I Blame Gordo...

...for the "Appearance" sections. =P

Anyway, I found the article formatting guide, and they way it's set up, a lot of articles (like the enemies) don't have any headings for the main content, which makes them look unappealing (in my opinion). For example, the Batty article has enough information to fill a decent-sized article section, but all of it is put into what I would consider an introduction section.
Is there any other format to use for those types of articles that would give them some more organization? -Sky (talk) 12:58, 13 November 2011 (CST)

Yeah, some articles still have appearance sections; this is mainly as I keep planning to rewrite stuff completely and remove those while I'm at it, but I'm rarely finding the time for that. I went by what most articles (well, newer ones; the Gordo article, among some others, is still from the wiki's beginning stages, as far as I'm aware) already looked like when I wrote the formatting guide to properly be able to enforce some consistency in the future as well, and I don't believe short-ish articles need any more organisation (and I like how they look, myself, though 1024x768 resolution may make them look better). They're organised just as well as the longer ones, except the latter are divided into games, which can't be done when there's only one game to deal with, and interspersing the paragraphs with section headings just for the sake of having section headings isn't going to improve them. Ax said long ago when the topic was brought up that headings should only be used when there's a need to divide information, and I honestly don't see a need for such a division in articles with 2-3 paragraphs and only a single game appearance; besides, enforcing such a format on single-game articles makes no sense without also using the same format in the game sub-sections of multiple-game articles, which will just become cluttered then. Making articles using the current formatting standards actually earned me my staff position to begin with, so I figure that's the way Ax wanted them to look and I currently have no plans to change that (not only in honour of his memory but also because I see no necessity).--Vellidragon 13:22, 13 November 2011 (CST)

About Top Ride

Hey, Vellidragon. I was wondering what I should write for the Top Ride course (Light, Metal, Grass, etc.) articles. I'm pretty sure that if I put the basic information and all that general stuff, the articles'll be way to short. If you could just assist me a little, that'd be greatish. --Catulaster 10:05, 10 December 2011 (CST)

Gladly would, but as I believe I have stated before, I have never played Kirby Air Ride and know practically nothing about it, so I won't be able to help with Air Ride coverage, sorry :\ I neither have the money nor the time (anymore) to actually buy and play all these games, so there'll always be a couple whose coverage I won't be able to help on (or properly monitor). I mostly just trust the contributors to do so instead, but with almost no actual contributors, that's rather problematic :/ --Vellidragon 10:15, 10 December 2011 (CST)

Image Transparencies

Hello, I just uploaded (and reverted my upload) of a KRtDL Ice Kirby file because I see a white background, so I opened it up in GIMP and removed the white into transparency, then uploaded, and the problem was still there, despite the fact that if I load it in GIMP, it shows as transparent? I'm kind of inexperienced in these matters, so may you offer some help? Thanks :) T.c.w7468 21:17, 28 December 2011 (CST)

You likely didn't do a clean refresh in your browser and it was loading the older, cached version of the image. I don't know what browser you are using, but in Firefox, holding Ctrl and hitting F5 will perform a clean refresh. I can confirm your transparent image was working fine and looking good, so feel free to revert back to that :3 It was just a browser cache-related issue.--Vellidragon 21:22, 28 December 2011 (CST)
Oh, you're right, thanks! I reverted the picture back to the transparent-background picture I uploaded. Sorry for any inconvenience.T.c.w7468 21:24, 28 December 2011 (CST)

Is there a particular procedure for making .jpg images .png, so a transparency can be added? T.c.w7468 15:43, 29 December 2011 (CST)

(By that, I mean reuploading a .png, not actually making one, sorry, that was ambiguous)T.c.w7468 15:44, 29 December 2011 (CST)
Hope I understood this right... If you mean uploading a new version of an image that's a different format than the currently uploaded one, I don't believe that works. If your new version is a different format, just upload it as a new file rather than a new version of the existing one and manually adjust the filename where the image is used (or if it's used in many articles, let me know and I can text replace them). I can delete the non-PNG ones when they are no longer needed; there's even a premade "superseded" deletion message for that.--Vellidragon 15:54, 29 December 2011 (CST)
I can't seem to find this template... do you happen to know where it is? :\ T.c.w7468 16:16, 29 December 2011 (CST)
Not sure what you mean there. There is no template, sorry if I confused you. With deletion message, I meant a message I can set to show up as the deletion reason in the recent changes when I delete things, sorry. There's no need to mark the images for deletion, they will show up in unused images when they're not used anymore and I will eventually delete them.--Vellidragon 16:30, 29 December 2011 (CST)

Affiliates?

Hello Vellidragon, it is I The Forgotten Beast, one of the staff members on Starfy Wiki and DK wiki, and I was hoping our wikis could become affiliated with WiKirby if that's alright? -The Forgotten Beast 16:13, 22 January 2012 (CST)

Erm, aren't we already affiliated? WiKirby is also a NIWA member...--Vellidragon 16:54, 22 January 2012 (CST)
I ask because when I mentioned the affiliates thing to a Smashwiki admin, he had no interest in a direct affiliation or an affiliation list and that the NIWA template on the main page was enough, so I was just asking to make sure. -The Forgotten Beast 17:08, 22 January 2012 (CST)
But aren't NIWA wikis automatically affiliated? o.O Or am I completely misunderstanding something here? SmashWiki in particular is interlinking with almost every NIWA wiki, so it seems strange to me that they would deny affiliation. Thanks for adding some missing wikis to the affiliates page, though; the reason they were missing there was not because there's no affiliation, but because nobody has updated that page in a long time. The links on the sidebar are closer to the actual affiliates than the affiliates page...--Vellidragon 19:06, 22 January 2012 (CST)

Apologies

Sorry about the copying of the image from Kirby Wiki. I am new, and I didn't know. I have two questions, though: a. Is Kirby Wiki a public domain? b. If so, am I allowed to use text from it? Thanks! -Tylosaurus 16:10, 19 February 2012 (EST)

Hallo. No need to apologise :3 Not sure what licence the wikia uses, but I'm fairly certain it's not public domain. Taking text from a different wiki is in any case frowned upon and shouldn't be done. We've had problems before with people plagiarising text from the Kirby Wikia in particular. I recommend that you just write everything you submit yourself (unless you're citing something, in which case you should of course use the original, unaltered text for the citation).--Vellidragon 15:31, 19 February 2012 (CST)

Weren't you the "YouTube Pooper" Oiramapap? If so, thanks for the entertainment. The Guy 18:27, 19 February 2012 (CST)

Indeed I was; previously known as igiulamam. Gosh, those were the days :p The account is blocked nowadays, though, but you're welcome in any case :3 Even if I won't be able to make any more of that kind of stuff. And out of curiosity, how did you find out? :o--Vellidragon 11:03, 20 February 2012 (CST)
I happen to be quite good at finding users across sites, although it's so simple and doesn't require much resources. For example, during my last days on "UnMario" Wiki by former MW sysop Paper Jorge, I had a confrontation with someone who happens to be some insane and still active Wikipedia troll I have just found out about recently. Nonetheless, you posting on your own older YouTube account gave it away. Before that, I was a bit late to enjoy your last videos, and I noted some similarities between oimarapap and your MW forum account when you were still active. You happened to be a familiar face, so I found it out. The Guy 13:45, 25 February 2012 (CST)

Could you make a Zelda Wiki userbox, by any chance? I use the wiki there, and want people to know that. sincerely, Medipink 9:03 April 27, 2012

Sorry I haven't been very active here lately. I'll try to make one as soon as I find the time; every NIWA member should eventually have such a userbox, but I haven't gotten around to making any more than what's currently there. @Kirby's Dream Land

So why do we consider the point value as when he puffs air? LightningBlue: Back in Blue 14:56, 15 June 2012 (CDT)

Did you read my edit summary? It's the point value that's awarded when ANY projectile destroys an enemy; there is NO difference between puffing air or spitting a star at them. I just checked the game again to confirm this, and can also confirm that the same amount of points is also rewarded if Kirby simply bumps into the enemy (presumably, using a bomb or microphone also awards this amount). Therefore, it is reasonable to treat this (more commonly awarded) amount of points as the base value and consider the points awarded for inhaling the enemy the exception, as inhaling an enemy is the only case in which the player receives a different amount of points.--Vellidragon 16:25, 15 June 2012 (CDT)
Ok I said that wrong. The difference I'm trying to understand is swallowing to exhaling a projectile, not puffing air to exhaling a projectile. Oh I see we are doing the more commonly used one in the point value. LightningBlue: Back in Blue 16:56, 15 June 2012 (CDT)
Inhaling an enemy simply cuts the points in half, as is explained in the introduction of the Enemies section: Alternatively, many can also be inhaled to be swallowed or used as ammunition; however, doing so only awards Kirby half the amount of points.--Vellidragon 18:50, 15 June 2012 (CDT)

The Server has Reset

When I upload a giant PNG screenshot, I am unable to do so because eventually, the page directs to "The Connection has Reset" or something like that. The file size is around 1 MB (which is big for a picture), which doesn't exceed the file size limit by far. However, when I upload the same picture in JPG format, it's fine. What's going on? Aphelocomaマリオ 14:58, 30 June 2012 (CDT)

I wish I knew. Perhaps it's a server thingy, but I have no way of finding out as the only person with server access practically never responds to me. If all else fails, try using pngcrush on the image and see if you can reduce the size any further.--Vellidragon 16:41, 30 June 2012 (CDT)

Ado/Adeleine Verdict

A couple months back, there was an encyclopedia of Kirby's history for his 20th anniversary released only in Japan. One of sections cracks the code of Ado's gender and relationship to Adeleine. Rough translation: "Ado and Adeleine are girls who came to Pop Star to study art. They are almost identical to each other in appearance and fighting style. Although there is much debate whether they are the same person, it is probable that they are one and the same, Ado is her nickname and Adeleine is her birth name." User:Technickal

Nice find! I suppose we can refer to Ado as female now with the relevant portion as a reference (it would be great if the original Japanese could be cited, not just a translation, so it can be verified that it wasn't distorted through mistranslation). As for identity, if even the encyclopaedia doesn't 100% confirm that they are the same ("probable"), I think we should keep them seperate, but definitely point this out (again with this source; original Japanese would be even more important to have here).--Vellidragon 11:22, 21 June 2013 (CDT)

Main Page update?

Hey, Vellidragon! I'm new-ish around here---I created my account almost 2 years ago but only decided to become active last week---and I've been doing things (mostly of the organizational variety) to tidy up a bit over the past few days. One thing that's been bugging me, however, is the main page. It's...pretty outdated! There's a message celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the wiki...over 2 years ago, and the new/upcoming games box makes no mention of Triple Deluxe! I realise that WiKirby's not the most...active wiki, to say the least, but maybe if the main page were up to date, it would become at least a little more active. (...Maybe?)

I'd do something about it myself, but I obviously don't have the proper permissions. You appear to be the only semi-active admin around these parts, so I guess it's up to you! So, uh...in summary, it'd be great if you would wipe some of that metaphorical dust of the main page. Thanks! :) --EzloSpirit (talk|contribs) 06:19, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

You are so right! Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. There are so many outdated things here especially since tech people keep screwing up the server and having to restore from age-old backups and I'm lacking the time (and by now motivation thanks to the repeated sever screw-ups) to work on them. :( I don't have much hope left for the site after all the times the server went down and/or the account database got nuked, usually with little to no explanation from the tech people responsible. I lost tons of contributions here myself. Things like that and being occupied with more important things just killed my enthusiasm for the site, which I'm sorry for, but I don't see it coming back right now.
So, I currently have no idea when or if I will feel up to the task of cleaning things up. :( I'm not sure if anyone would care by now either way, the continuous tech-side failures probably drove people away. Sorry.--Vellidragon (talk) 02:55, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
EDIT: We actually did have an announcement about Triple Deluxe on the main page and some coverage, but it all was lost thanks to the aforementioned screw-ups on server side.--Vellidragon (talk) 03:06, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi Velli. Can the site notice be removed now? I feel that it is an issue that has passed, and every affected website is back up. If not, can you make a minor edit and uncapitalize why in "For more information on Why", please? Thanks in advance. --Chickasaurus (talk) 22:26, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Okay, it's gone. A tech person put it up and apparently never took it down...--Vellidragon (talk) 22:33, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

I have a question.

I'm not sure why, but I had to re-create my account. Would you please tell my why? I'm the same Mario from a year or so ago, by the way. Mario (talk) 18:51, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Because tech people keep losing or messing up the database and then never put an explanation on the site despite telling me they would. :\ --Vellidragon (talk) 19:39, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Also, may you remove the brackets from MediaWiki:Mainpage? They mess up the link. Mario (talk) 19:09, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
Moydow fixed it; I had never seen that page before and had no idea what it even did! Nice catch, thanks.--Vellidragon (talk) 21:05, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

I noticed that the page Ado got vandalized by this user so I registered to revert that back to the previous version. It turns out that user has also vandalized other pages and has created ones for non-existing things such as Kirby & the Bathroom Mirror, Red Reds and Mario Air Ride. Zombienom and Nonsensical Pages

This user, who signed up on the 2nd of January, has created a great number of pages that frankly do not belong on WiKirby. Thanks for letting me know - it's been literally years since I personally updated these things, so I hope it's all looking as it should (apart from the lack of a countdown, which presumably stopped working in some past MediaWiki upgrade - I'll be bringing that up to the tech folks). By the way, Template:Lineup and Template:News (which are displayed on the main page) are not protected, so anyone can add information like this to them.--Vellidragon (talk) 22:54, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

CAPTCHA

Hello, there is a problem with the CAPTCHA system preventing any edits to be made...T.c.w7468 09:46, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately, I don't have the kind of access or expertise required to do anything about it. :/ I brought it up in the hangouts chat for the server group so hopefully a tech person will look into it.--Vellidragon (talk) 16:41, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
Tech says it was fixed with a quest captcha - let me or a server person know if there are still problems. :) --Vellidragon (talk) 19:27, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

New Here

Hey there! I'm Kirbylover100 but you can call me LooneyBandicootGirl or rorosilky5, any username will do... -- As the title says...I'm kinda new to WiKirby and I was wondering...can you at least tell me what to do here in this wiki? --Kirbylover100 (talk) 10:09, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Hallo Kirbylover! Welcome to the site. :) I haven't been able to actively keep up with the wiki in a while (except for stepping in with admin powers where requested), but generally, we can always use help in making our coverage of the Kirby franchise more complete by filling in missing information or creating articles about subjects we should cover but don't yet. Check out our Help & Policy section if you need help with editing, or try things out in the Sandbox.

If you're not sure which areas need help, here is our category for incomplete articles (so-called "stubs"), and here is our list of red links (articles that are being linked to but haven't been started yet). When editing, please keep our style guide in mind - it is designed to make articles look more consistent and clean.

Happy editing!

Uhm...help?

I'm having trouble uploading the Cook Kirby file, you know...the Brawl screenshot of it. You might wanna edit it a bit... Oh, and the file is Cook_Kirby.PNG. --Kirbylover100 (talk) 16:25, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

Looks fine to me. What was the problem? There seem to be two of the same image file, though (File:Cook Kirby Brawl.PNG and File:Cook Kirby.PNG). Since both of them are unused right now, which one would you rather like to remain on the wiki (so I can delete the other)? They are identical.--Vellidragon (talk) 21:09, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
Hmm...the file Cook_Kirby_Brawl.PNG will have to stay since it's a screenshot from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. --Kirbylover100 (talk) 09:24, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
Alright, I deleted the other one. Thanks! :) --Vellidragon (talk) 02:45, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
No problem. I added the picture in the Final Smash page, how does it look? --Kirbylover100 (talk) 19:33, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
Looks fine to me. Pictures in articles generally should have a caption, though. Something like Kirby's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. or whatever looks good underneath the image.--Vellidragon (talk) 01:36, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
Gotcha. I added the caption, now it stands out perfectly. Expect me to edit more pages! --Kirbylover100 (talk) 07:05, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

Anniversary

Hello. I notice that the main page's anniversary is off....let's say...7 year. Anyway, i would like to change it, but i do not have the permission. I have a little experience with this on mario wiki(i am marioboy00001) and i am requesting to have access to change it. Thanks! --Kirboy00001 (talk) 16:21, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

Ahh yeah. I haven't been doing much here for the past years, I was thinking someone else with access would change it eventually, haha. I should probably change it myself and put a welcome message of sorts, though today's date may not be best for that.--Vellidragon (talk) 15:17, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
I went and changed the main page message to something that won't become outdated. How's it look? :) --Vellidragon (talk) 01:17, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

Main page april fools

Why did you change the main page image to Bulbaonion? April Fools or mistake? --Raltseye (talk) 17:18, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

WiKirby wanted to feel famous for a day.--Vellidragon (talk) 19:51, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Another vandal

A user named Comic Sans Globox signed in yesterday, and did some damage to the character infobox and certain pages, by replacing images with the cover to the original Rayman game. I have undone the damage, but I suspect more will be done by this user unless stopped. ~ --Fubaka (talk) 4:35, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

Handful of spam accounts being made

We've recently had four spam accounts made using auto-generated names, with auto-generated userpages. These should be snipped at the bud as soon as possible. They are GastonSynder25, AlphonseRowley, TracieCranswick, and WilhelminaCook. Their userpages are identical outside of word changes in various places. ~ --Fubaka (talk) 19:51, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

I've taken care of these - thank you very much! :) --Vellidragon (talk) 00:08, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Even more spam

A whole lot of spam has gone down yesterday (May 26th). A number of pages have been created full of phone numbers and email addresses. All of it needs to be dealt with asap. ~ --Fubaka (talk) 14:32, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Yikes, thanks for letting me know. Hope that's taken care of. :\ --Vellidragon (talk) 19:10, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

A Discord for WiKirby?

I've been editing around here for a while, so I should probably know if a Discord or other IRC-type service exists for WiKirby. Does such a thing exist? ~ --Fubaka (talk) 20:06, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Sorry to be a bother, but I would like an answer to this question. If such a thing does not exist, could we establish one? ~ --Fubaka (talk) 09:31, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
Hmm, I actually never received an email about this - sorry about that. There is/was a Skype group for WiKirby, but I think that's it. I don't use Discord, but others do, so something can probably be set up. I passed it on to User:tacopill, who has more experience with such things; he is tacopill#1781 on Discord and you should get in contact with him.--Vellidragon (talk) 17:23, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
Alright, will do. Based on your response, I will assume that you've told him about this request. I will tell him that you sent me. ~ --Fubaka (talk) 20:43, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Template:Names

I was told by Tacopill that you might have something to think about Template talk:Names. --Raltseye (talk) 11:22, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Spam Account and 2000 page upcoming

We've got a spam account. Normally Moydow would deal with this, but he's out of town. Can you do it? Account: User:NellieWilkins

Also, thought I'd let you know. We are getting dangerously close to 2000 articles on WiKirby! What should we do to celebrate? ~ --Fubaka (talk) 5:05, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, taken care of (I de-linkified the link above so it's not a red link).
Hmm, I don't know, really. I don't remember if we did anything for 1000 articles. Personally not a big fan of page number milestones since there tend to be a lot of incomplete/unpolished pages, but I can see the significance. Maybe ask around on the discord thingy, and let me know if anyone has an idea.--Vellidragon (talk) 15:24, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
On that note, have you considered getting a Discord account? I think we'd all like to have you in there so we can chat in real time. I understand if you don't want to, but I would still recommend it. ~ --Fubaka (talk) 17:11, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
Hrm, I'd rather not have to check on anything more than Google Hangouts. I used to be in some Skype chats and I often found them distracting and time-consuming. Sorry. I get emailed about talk page messages, though, so anyone's free to contact me here. --Vellidragon (talk) 19:12, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
Sorry to bug you again so soon, but we have another spam account: User:Lilliana7259 ~ --Fubaka (talk) 20:14, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
And another one: User:BernieceJulius9 ~ --Fubaka (talk) 23:02, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
All gone, feel free to bug me any time. :p --Vellidragon (talk) 00:07, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
One more. :P User:AlfredGentile82 ~ --Fubaka (talk) 1:13, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
Done.--Vellidragon (talk) 02:47, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch. That was an uncanny number of spam accounts for a single day. I'll start a new section if another appears. ~ --Fubaka (talk) 2:50, 22 November 2017 (UTC)

Spam Account

We've got another spammer to deal with: User:IsmaelBackhouse ~ --Fubaka (talk) 17:46, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, done. :) --Vellidragon (talk) 22:38, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
Summore spammers, this time in their talk pages: User talk:Frtte111 & User talk:Wqw5202. ~ --Fubaka (talk) 2:50, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, done.--Vellidragon (talk) 06:27, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
Two more: User:ElmoMiljanovic0 & User talk:Uusd234 ~ --Fubaka (talk) 16:04, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
Done.--Vellidragon (talk) 22:44, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Update

Hello. Could you update the table at the bottom of the edit table where there are NIWA links? No new wikis since F-Zero Wiki has been added. Thanks! --Raltseye prata med mej 08:14, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Wow, I never knew those links were there! Had to check to even know what you meant. Thanks for pointing this out, I'll be looking into it later.--Vellidragon (talk) 16:39, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
Done! Let me know if anything is still needed.--Vellidragon (talk) 01:28, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, well actually Special:Interwiki needs updating as well. ZeldaWiki has moved to a new domain, and Bulbapedia, Donkey Kong Wiki, Dragon Quest Wiki, Fire Emblem Wiki, Golden Sun Universe, Inkipedia, Lylat Wiki, Metroid Wiki, Nookipedia, Pikipedia, SmashWiki, Starfy Wiki, StrategyWiki, Super Mario Wiki, and Wikibound now uses https --Raltseye prata med mej 07:41, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Wars Wiki has also moved to a new domain, could you update the interwiki table? --Raltseye prata med mej 09:57, 17 February 2018 (UTC)

Remove the Main Page's title?

Raltseye and I are thinking of removing the title 'Kirby Wiki' at the top of the main page, as many other wikis do that as standard practice. Would this be fine by you? --Fubaka (talk) 20:55, 10 March 2018 (UTC)

I think it's titled that way to help us show up in searches for a "Kirby Wiki", since the site name doesn't include it. I don't know how much it benefits us, but it probably doesn't hurt to keep it there.--Vellidragon (talk) 23:01, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
Hmm, at the same time, when I do a search for 'Kirby Wiki' on Google, the page title isn't what's highlighted when we get to WiKirby. Instead, it highlights "a Kirby Wiki encyclopedia that anyone can edit". That wouldn't go away if we hid the title. --Fubaka (talk) 23:22, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
I'm not finding anything for or against the idea, so I don't think page titles are taken into consideration for SEOs. (semi-releated: [2]).
It is important to have a <title></title> tag, which is handled by the software. But that is "WiKirby" for the main page and not "Kirby Wiki".
The main page might be hard coded to ignore it entirely. For comparison, see Wing's title as <title>Wing - WiKirby</title> and this pages title as <title>User talk:Vellidragon - WiKirby</title>.
So, in summary: If you think it isn't helping, then I see no harm in removing it.
Hope I helped, Tacopill (talk) 04:35, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
Hate to bug you about this again, but have you come to a decision on whether we should remove the title or not? --Fubaka (talk) 22:23, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

Just checking in

Greetings, Velli. Did you get my most recent e-mail? I'll be waiting for a response there. --Fubaka (talk) 18:22, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

I got the email - haven't gotten around to responding yet, sorry.--Vellidragon (talk) 20:29, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
Alright, thanks for letting me know. --Fubaka (talk) 23:25, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

Useless images

Hi,can you delete: Rael.png Steem.png Embrose.png ACF.png GenoKirby.png The Sean1596 Banner.png Few.png CDToSBox.jpg LineupCDToS.png Screen shot.png Thanks!Ghist (talk) 15:38, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

Hey, you can link to files directly with [[:File:Name.png]]. I've deleted most of them, I'm not sure what happened with The Sean1596 and if we'll need that image again and "GenoKirby.png" doesn't seem to exist. I'm keeping CDToSBox.jpg for now since it was part of an archived April Fools page which still has it in the code (but commented out along with the infobox so the page doesn't get categorised). May need to put the infobox back without a template eventually if people want to see it, but it's not very important. Thanks!--Vellidragon (talk) 17:01, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

Look in the "unused files" for Genokirby.png.Ghist (talk) 12:05, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Ahh, it's a jpg file, not a png. Hmm, this is a weird one - it says it's not used, but it's actually used on User:Genokirby4.--Vellidragon (talk) 20:57, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Mhm. Also,can you delete test.ogg?Ghist (talk) 14:48, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

Checking in again

Hi, Velli. I sent you another email a few days ago. Did you receive it? --Fubaka (talk) 02:35, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

Yeah, haven't gotten to it yet, sorry.--Vellidragon (talk) 03:41, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

MediaWiki Sidebar

Hi, is it ok if you remove the NIWA wikis from MediaWiki:Sidebar? It looks too long if you use the Monobook skin, and i have to scroll to the search bar. Results May Vary (talk) 23:08, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

Independent translation portal request

This is Falco. Some fan translators are opening an independent WordPress called Popstar Press. It's basically a portal for publishing various fan translations of the Kirby series.

They want to add some affiliated blogs in their external links, and ask if they can put Wikirby as one. It can help boost our data.

Links:

--FalcoLau (talk) 03:19, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

Oh, sorry, I never got an email about this. Affiliates are always good! I see they're linking to us already so I should probably put a link to them in the affiliates section, although I have some concerns due to the questionable legality of what they're doing.--Vellidragon (talk) 01:37, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
