Patroller

Hey, Gigi! You've been making a lot of helpful edits lately, so how would you like to become a patroller? As a patroller, you'll be able to mark edits as patrolled, and also mark possible featurement candidates as Good. You'll also be treated to a purple username on Special:RecentChanges and a shiny gold medal on your userpage. Is this something you're interested in? --YFJ (talk · edits) 18:38, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

Oh, yes, sure thing! I would love to! :) Gigi (talk) 19:07, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
All right then! You are now a patroller! Purple names and gold medals coming shortly! You also should have access to the staff chat on Shiver Star; let me know if you don't. --YFJ (talk · edits) 19:19, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
Thank you! And it looks like I don't have access to that chat as of right now, or I can't find it. Gigi (talk) 19:30, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

OGG versus OGA

Hello

While OGG is a possible format for the file itself, it is discouaged by the designer of OGG itself--Xiph.org. Most easily sourced (and horribly formatted) from the RFC,

While this document does redefine the earlier definition of
application/ogg, this media type will continue to embrace the widest
net possible of content with the video/ogg and audio/ogg types being
smaller subsets of it. However, the video/ogg and audio/ogg types
take precedence in a subset of the usages, specifically when serving
multimedia content that is not complex enough to warrant the use of
application/ogg. Following this line of thought, the audio/ogg type
is an even smaller subset within video/ogg, as it is not intended to
  refer to visual content.
As such, the application/ogg type is the recommended choice to serve
content aimed at scientific and other applications that require
various multiplexed signals or streams of continuous data, with or
without scriptable control of content. For bitstreams containing
visual, timed text, and any other type of material that requires a
visual interface, but that is not complex enough to warrant serving
under application/ogg, the video/ogg type is recommended. In
situations where the Ogg bitstream predominantly contains audio data
(lyrics, metadata, or cover art notwithstanding), it is recommended
  to use the audio/ogg type.

In short, despite the fact that ogg can be used as a name, it has been redefined and requested to become more specific in its naming. OGG should generally, if possible, be formatted as OGA or OGV where appropriate. This is essentially done as a practicality and formality. For a small history, I have a small section on here on my user page. I can give more details if required, but I strongly suggest that OGA be used as the main extension furthermore. Trig - (talk) 21:25, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation. I will be honest, I personally started using OGG for audio formats because pretty much all audio files here use that, and I wasn't aware of its implications. Furthermore, I reverted your two changes mostly for consistency, not because I disagree: if OGA is a better choice for audio, it better be used for all audio files that current use OGG, not just a couple.
I will forward this to the rest of the staff to see what they think too, but I don't see why anyone would be against the change. Then we can hopefully change all current audio files from OGG to OGA and encourage people to use it in the future instead. Regardless, I'll keep you updated. Gigi (talk) 00:09, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. Since there's still approximately 9 japanese file names I'd like to move, should I wait until OGA is determined, or go ahead and move them to english name (thing).oga? If you need more descriptions, feel free to ask on here or on discord. Thanks! Trig - (talk) 01:15, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Sandbox

If I'm not mistaken, I can create sandbox by simply creating page with User:Superbound/Sandbox, right? (asking because i'm not so sure) Superbound (talk) 16:14, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, that would be a subpage of your userpage, and they can be named anything (but of course follow the policy). —Viperision (talk) 16:19, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! Superbound (talk) 16:21, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
Yup yup, as Viperision said. In fact, thanks for giving this quick answer, heh. Gigi (talk) 16:43, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition

The game is referred to without a colon symbol during the credits of New Challenge Stages, as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PKLvVgauusOwencrazyboy17 (talk) 19:07, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

Well then the whole wiki is using the wrong name. I was adding those because that's the name of the article and how every mention of it I've seen in the wiki has been. Personally, I don't care much if it has a colon or not, but I do want consistency. Gigi (talk) 19:11, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
Can also confirm through the manual that it's consistently "Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition" with no colon. StrawberryChan (talk) 21:04, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

Delete my account

Hi I want to delete my account cause I do not longer need an account —Preceding unsigned comment added by Frisky Girl (talkcontribs) . Please always sign your comments by typing ~~~~!

Greetings. We do not typically delete accounts here on WiKirby, but we can make this account inaccessible by permablocking it, so nobody can use it again. Is this what you want? --Samwell (talk) 18:40, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
I will just do a Giveway —Preceding unsigned comment added by Frisky Girl (talkcontribs) . Please always sign your comments by typing ~~~~!
We would not allow such a thing, nor would it matter, since accounts are free. If you do not want to be here anymore, you could either just leave it, or we will block it. Up to you. --Samwell (talk) 19:01, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
I will just stay here since I am a Kirby fan —Preceding unsigned comment added by Frisky Girl (talkcontribs) . Please always sign your comments by typing ~~~~!
Alright. Just one thing though. You seem to be using the unsigned template I put on your first post to sign your comments. This is not necessary. All you have to do to sign your comment is to type four tildes in a row at the end of your post, like this → ~~~~. --Samwell (talk) 19:12, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
I just do not know how to sign comments Frisky Girl (talk)14:15, 25 December 2020 (Canadian hour)
Well now you do, since you just did it. Cheers. --Samwell (talk) 19:16, 25 December 2020 (UTC)

Colored Names

Hi. I was wondering how to get a different colored or different fonted signatures. Is it solely for staff? Thank you. Kawasaki'sBiggestFan (talk) 00:16, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

This is not restricted to staff. There's a bit of a technical side to this, but if you look on my own signature code, you might get a general idea of how to do it. Mainly, for the font I use <span style="font family: 'Delfino'"> and for the color, I use <span style="color: #0a0">. You can put another font in the place of "Delfino" on the first tag, and the three digits following the # on the second tag represent the hex code for a color (in my case, lime), and you can look up the hex code for the color you want and replace the digits with those. Hope this helps! --YFJ (talk · edits) 00:27, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

How to create User Page

Hey Gigi, how do I get permission to edit my user page?

Hey Gigi, how do I get permission to edit my user page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by RedsterTheGamer (talkcontribs) . Please always sign your comments by typing ~~~~!

Hey there. I'm not Gigi, but to create your user page, you have to make five edits to the wiki and have an account for 24 hours first. The latter's already done, but you'll be good to go if you make one more edit to the wiki.
Also, please remember to always sign your comments by typing ~~~~. -- Jellytost (talk) 04:16, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
You need to be autoconfirmed to create pages, which is 1 day + 5 edits. So you just need one more edit on any page to create your userpage. –Wiz (talk · edits) 04:17, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
