"Top Ride: Sky" (capitalized as "Top Ride: SKY" in the Sound Test) is a theme that plays in the Sky Top Ride course in Kirby Air Ride. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.[1]

Composition[edit]

View of the course from the sky.

"Top Ride: Sky" is a waltz-like theme in C and E-flat major and 3/4. After a dominant intro, the first section enters in a rising sequence played by an accordeon that leads into a shortened 2/4 bar followed by a fanfare in a distant key. This repeats with some changes in pitch and instrumentation. The second section is more lyrical, featuring a melody of descending stepwise motion through the slower-changing keys of B-flat and harmonic E-flat major, with quiet harp glissandi in the background. Tension then builds up as the rhythm becomes sharper, brass and percussive instruments add up, and the melody slowly rises once more. The second section ends on C major's dominant, leading back to the first for a loop.
