Should this redirect to Parasol? They are both about the same thing. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 20:10, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

They should definitely be merged into a single article, though I'm not sure which name that would use; as there is also a Parasol enemy, the two articles on the ability could be merged into Parasol (ability), while Parasol could be a disambiguation page linking to Parasol (enemy) and this one; alternatively, the ability article could use the Parasol title and include an articleabout template linking to the enemy, which might be the better solution as the ability is probably the more prominent "Parasol".--Vellidragon 21:30, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
Agreed with the merger. Special:MergeHistory, if that works, is possibly the quickest solution. If not, copy-paste would be acceptable, as the other method of merging pages involves a lot of deletions. As for the Parasol page, I would argue that some newer editors may link to simply 'Parasol' in either case, resulting in links to the ability where the enemy was intended. I personally would be in favour of a disambiguation page, but if you feel the other method is better, I don't mind. Moydow 23:24, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
Maybe a disambiguation as you said would be better. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 00:14, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Move proposal[edit]

It would appear that in the past, it was decided to create a disambiguation page to distinguish the Parasol enemy from the ability. However, given recent trends in both the wiki's formatting and the Kirby series itself, I propose that we move this article to Parasol and change the current disambiguation page to Parasol (disambiguation), since the ability is what would most often be expected when typing "Parasol" into the search bar. Are there any objections to this proposal? --Fubaka (talk) 07:17, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Maybe have Parasol (item) and Parasol (ability) and have the word "Parasol" link to the disambiguation page? That's what I think would work best. --DeepFriedCabbage 17:32, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
I'd go with the old way of "This article is about... For... see [[Parasol (enemy)]]", since there are only 2 subjects. A disambiguation article is really unecessary, especially one to the annoyance of the visitor that would "Parasol" direct at, and I agree the Copy Ability is the more expected search for the "Parasol". —Viperision (talk) 17:49, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
The obstacle predates the ability, however, so shouldn't it have seniority? AdieuLain (talk) 18:02, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
To Obsessive Mario Fan, I'm not sure it would be proper to relabel the parasol object as an item, since it can't be picked up and used, and it hurts Kirby on contact.
To Viperision, that's not a bad observation, and I suspect that we should take that course of action instead of keeping the disambiguation page.
To AdieuLain, that's not a bad instinct, but keep in mind that the Mike (item) also precedes the Mike ability, but it wouldn't make much sense to give that priority over the ability since the item only appears in Kirby's Dream Land and Kirby Air Ride. On the same token, while the Parasol object is fairly common through the series, it is much more well-known as an ability than as an object. --Fubaka (talk) 18:09, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
