Split into "Fountain of Dreams"[edit]

Alright so I suppose not everyone will agree with this, or even wonder how to split exactly, but much how we once split off Masked Dedede's Theme from King Dedede's Theme, I propose that we split off "Fountain of Dreams" from this page. To be more specific, it would consist of the following:

Also I know the Dream Collection chamber music remix is a weird case, but since they call the song "Gourmet Race" there I would argue it would stay here. For what I listed above, they are either obviously remixes of the Melee version or they are listed as remixes of "Fountain of Dreams" specifically. I think "Fountain of Dreams" should be treated as separate songs, but what do you all think?

(Yes, I know there is a KA song called "Fountain of Dreams" as well, the page could have a qualifier to differenciate the two, but first I want to see if people agree with the split or not.) - Gigi (talkedits) 18:51, 9 May 2023 (UTC)

It should probably stay here. Splitting this from Gourmet Race would be like separating Rest Area from Float Islands. --Paistrie (talk) 19:08, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
I wouldn't be opposed to splitting off Rest Area... StarPunch (talk) 00:01, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
I can't believe I'm agreeing to this but the page is so crammed I would be in favour anyway. Separate identities and whatnot. Regarding Float Islands... uh that can be separated if it's mentioned somewhere like at the very top of the page that Rest Area is a direct remix. Splitting into Rest Area was another thing I would eventually suggest, and I see it similarly to the example I mentioned, Masked Dedede's Theme. But yeah, back to the topic at hand, Superbound expressed agreement of the split over Discord, but hasn't commented here yet. - Gigi (talkedits) 12:47, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
Perhaps, but isn't the "Fountain of Dreams" more or less an orchestral remix of Gourmet Race? (Not that I wholeheartedly disagree with the split or anything...) --Paistrie (talk) 13:13, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
As Gigi said, I have said my support already. I also agree with making article for "Rest Area", and perhaps even go as far as getting "Battle with an Enormous Boss" its own page. Because the wiki doesn't plan on denying that "Fountain of Dreams" or "Rest Area" are arrangements of "Gourmet Race" / "Float Islands", but rather, as shown by Gigi, is that they are or can be treated differently from their root song, notably having "remix of a remix of a remix" situation. (Frankly, I'm still awaiting the big music proposal, but for now this, alongside earlier mentioned "Masked Dedede's Theme", can set a basic precedent on how to handle such cases before we set on the exact details of that proposal.) Superbound (talk) 15:42, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
Ok, I guess that makes sense. I thought that meant it was going to be considered a completely different theme. Sorry! In that case, I wouldn't mind if it was split. (If that's the case, maybe Float Islands and Rest Area could be separated as well...) --Paistrie (talk) 19:05, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

It was split: Fountain of Dreams (theme). - Gigi (talkedits) 15:39, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Sky High and Smitten[edit]

Is "Sky High and Smitten" really a Gourmet Race remix? It does have the first five notes of Gourmet Race in some parts, but that's all I hear. Can someone confirm this? --Paistrie (talk) 16:16, 25 August 2023 (UTC)

This one is a good question indeed. I will leave the answer to other people because I personally feel it's inspired by it but not a remix. - Gigi (talkedits) 22:22, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
As the one who originally put it here, I also questioned it before; our music standards were looser when I put it in. That said, the consensus when I asked was actually to keep it. I guess it could go either way; it has the same general structure and melody as Gourmet Race, but it's still very much a distinct song, yet it likely wouldn't have enough info to get its own page otherwise. So I'm not sure about it. StarPunch (talk) 02:51, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
Following the trend for FL music and other PR themes, it would make sense to split and point out the similarities. As far as content goes, isn't there that one trivia point about Ishikawa's vision of the stage and such? Rhythm Route#Trivia. We could move it out of there for a change. Oh, that could work! StarPunch (talk) 11:24, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
In my opinion, I think Sky High and Smitten deserves a separate page because it is only a PARTIAL remix of Gourmet Race. I had a listen to it just recently; most of its melody sounds original to me. -User:Jude da Dude 13:54, 8 February 2024
So, to try and summarize the opinions here, we have two (?) people who say that Sky High and Smitten should get a sperate page and one unsure person. Does anyone else have any opinions? --Paistrie (talk)
Confirming I still stand for a split (may not have gotten that point across the first time). ShadowKirby (t/c) a.k.a. your new overlord ShadowMagolor 18:18, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
(reset indent) Yes, I'm still good for a split. All it would really need is a decent composition section and it would be good to go, I think. StarPunch (talk) 18:50, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
I'll be in charge of that! ;) I'm a bit busy today but tomorrow I'll make sure the article is done. Let me know if you change your minds. -User:Jude da Dude 19:58, 38 February 2024
That's fine by me! Just don't overwork yourself. Also, just in case you can't finish a music page in one go, you can always save it in your personal sandbox. Thanks for offering to help! --Paistrie (talk) 23:59, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
