Rename to Flapbon?[edit]
So, I was browsing PidgiWiki, and I saw that there they name this enemy as "Flapbon", with a "b" instead of a second "p". Seeing the name of this enemy, which comes from "flap" and "Puppon", the English name of Puppon is "Beanbon", so by the policy of "using adapted terms whenever possible", wouldn't it make more sense to go by Beanbon and name this Flapbon? I see that for Mummbon and Zombon, which are officially translated to English instead of fanly adapted as this one, that type of translation is used; their Japanese name ends with "-pon" but in English they end with "-bon".
I want to highlight that I'm not requesting this change simply to "coindide with PidgiWiki" in any case; they go with their own thing. Is just that seeing how they named this enemy there gave me the idea, and by seeing that apparently the official translation of "-pon" is "-bon", probably this enemy would have been officially translated as "Flapbon", or "Whateverbon", instead of ending with "-pon". -Zolerian (talk | contribs) 19:51, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- "Flapbon" from PidgiWiki is probably based on Kirby Wikia's article under that name. We should not conflate an English suffix with Japanese romanization, ultimately resulting in a conjecture. - The policy states that "Translated Japanese names take priority here, using adapted names and terms whenever possible.". The "-bon" suffix would count as an adapted term, seeing how it is implemented in Mummbon and Zombon, as in Japanese their names follow the "formula" of "part of mummy/zombie + pon", while in English they are "part of mummy/zombie + bon". That same way of using the English version of a suffix alongside Japanese romanization has already been applied here with Jambeliever, Dekofloof and Giga Clanksprout. Those cases aren't conjecture as they are a fusion of Japanese romanization with an official translation of a established suffix, instead of a completely made up name. They aren't conjectural nor translated from Japanese, they are derived from Japanese; that is why the {{DerivedTitle}} template exist. -Zolerian (talk | contribs) 23:38, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
