Chuchu or ChuChu?Edit

Brought this up before the server crash, but never got a reply thus far. In the Kirby's Dream Land 3 manual, Chuchu's name is spelt as "ChuChu"; should the spelling on the wiki be changed to that as well? The manual gets a lot of names wrong, but all in-game mentions of her name (that I am aware of) only use capital letters, so there is nothing in the game itself to disprove the spelling in the manual being correct. Is there any official source that uses the "Chuchu" spelling currently used on here, or should this be moved and all mentions of her name changed to ChuChu?--Vellidragon 19:10, 22 January 2011 (CST)

Could at least have waited for a reply before just randomly moving the article. I guess I can move it back if someone disagrees with the move, though, and it's been over a year since I brought this up with nobody else ever replying to it, so meh. Still, please wait for staff approval before moving a page in the future if there's (theoretically) a discussion about the move on the talk page; there was no "deadline" for this issue, so other people could have still gotten their opinion in before a move.--Vellidragon 15:19, 1 January 2012 (CST)

Chuchu or ChuChu? (2022 edition)Edit

So I've been wondering forever now about which way is the correct one to spell her name. So I decided to check how often each is used:

Chuchu:

  • Kirby: Triple Deluxe keychain
  • Kirby: Planet Robobot sticker
  • Chuchu Flask and Chuchu Cap gear in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash
  • Chuchu costume and character treat in Kirby's Dream Buffet

ChuChu:

  • Kirby's Dream Land 3 manual
  • Kirby's Dream Collection booklet
  • "Clean ChuChu" on Cleaning's moveset in Kirby Star Allies
  • Spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

It appears that "Chuchu" is the most common spelling but only by a little. While I'm not sure if we want to move a whole page over a spelling that appears to change often, I do want to point this out that both are correct, since I saw a sic template used for "Chuchu" when it really shouldn't. This is not a "Magalor" situation. - Gigi (talkedits) 01:40, 21 December 2022 (UTC)

Personally, I think in this case, it's most appropriate to use ChuChu, since that's how it is spelled in her only significant appearance (Kirby's Dream Land 3). That said, if in future games they decide to settle on "Chuchu", then a move might be in order. --Samwell (talk) 01:44, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
So, they used ChuChu in Dream Collection, changed to Chuchu in Triple Deluxe and Team Clash Deluxe, changed back to ChuChu in Star Allies and returned to Chuchu in Super Clash and Dream Buffet. It seems pretty weird to me that in the same, say, "era" of Kirby they swapped the name three times. My guess is that they aren't set with it, and it could be really possible that various future media use both ChuChu and Chuchu without setting with one. We could move it to Chuchu, but maybe the next game uses ChuChu again instead.
That said, I think that the Dream Buffet name holds some type of weight because it is newer and, mostly for me, because that game gave us the name of this thing and this guy so it seems that that game takes seriously the names of stuff. We changed the name of Crack-Tweet to Hatched Chick and noted in the KDL2 section of Sir Kibble that Load Kibble seems to correctly be Lord Kibble, so the wiki is leading to and complying with the names given in Dream Buffet already. If we were going with the names of stuff as they were in their most significant appearances, I think that Crack-Tweet would've been leaved like that. So it would be weird if we moved Crack-Tweet to Hatched Chick following Dream Buffet, but don't move ChuChu to Chuchu.
A side note, as the Amazing Mirror section of Mr. Frosty calls him "Mr. Flosty", that means that if we do the move to Chuchu, the KDL3 and Star Allies stuff would be untouched, no? That every KDL3 page that mentions her, and the KDL3 and Star Allies sections of the very page would keep the name ChuChu, as that is how she is called in that media, and thus only the page name and other stuff would be changed, isn't it?
Either way, as the translators themselves don't seem to set on a spelling of her name, and that whichever of the two could be used in the next media or game, I don't really have a preference. I don't mind so much if it stays as ChuChu or if it is moved to Chuchu. Still, it would be weird if we don't use the Dream Buffet name like with Hatched Chick, and so. -Zolerian (talk | contribs) 22:25, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, names change, so I don't think arguing that just because she was called ChuChu in the manual of Dream Land 3 is reason enough to keep the page as ChuChu forever. However, as the translators can't figure out if they want to spell it as Chuchu or ChuChu, I didn't want to propose a move since maybe she appears in the next Kirby game and they spell her name as ChuChu, and we need to move the page back. :P Hence, I just wanted to point out that both spellings should be considered valid, as they can't figure out how they want to spell her name, with the two spellings being used almost as often. - Gigi (talkedits) 00:31, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
Return to "ChuChu" page.
