Rename

I put this at "Air Ride: Checker Knights" because, on the official Japanese soundtrack releases, all of the Air Ride themes have the Air Ride prefix in their names (so for example, Air Ride: Fantasy Meadows, Air Ride: Celestial Valley, Air Ride: Sky Sands, and so on). Same goes for the Top Ride and City Trial tracks. The idea was to be consistent in the naming scheme. I do get that the official English name is just "Checker Knights," though; the Japanese version of Smash also ignores the prefixes. That being the case, if "Checker Knights" is moved, it'd likely be better to move all of the corresponding themes to the same naming scheme. I'm more in favor of using the "Air Ride: (name)" scheme, but if the "(theme)" suffix is preferable, I don't mind using that. StrawberryChan (talk) 17:35, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

I perfectly understand the reasoning, and I think it makes sense. My worry is mostly in the naming policy, that asks us to always favor official English names over official Japanese names when they exist. As of it is right now, at least, "Checker Knights" should be the one we should use. However, we would need to probably go with Japanese names for all other Air Ride tracks, as none have official English names (at least I don't think so), which would end up using "Air Ride:" at the beginning, as you said... So Checker Knights would be the odd one out. Maybe something to discuss could be what to do in cases like this, when naming pages with similar naming conventions: go with the majority, even if it's against the policy in some cases (so, in this case, use the "Air Ride:" naming), or go with the one that is in accordance with the naming policy, even if it's a one case only or minority (in this case, use the track name with "(theme)"). My own personal opinion is to go with the "Air Ride:" naming for all tracks but, at least right now, this would go against the policy, which is why I mentioned the rename. If we can find a way to solve this dilemma, that would be awesome. Gigi (talk) 00:12, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Actually, Frozen Hillside and Celestial Valley are also in Smash Bros. (at least for Wii U and Ultimate). So Checker Knights wouldn't be the odd one out. – Owencrazyboy17 (talk) 00:44, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, and the "Air Ride:" thing only applies to the Japanese version anyway. It's useful for getting rid of disambigs, but not an official English thing, y'know? StrawberryChan (talk) 05:23, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
