Swept Out to Sea is the first stage of the level Indigo Ocean in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. In this stage, water is introduced as a course element, and the player is given the opportunity to learn how Kirby controls while underwater in a relatively easy environment. Later on, these water navigation skills are put to the test in stronger water currents, dodging Gordos and collecting Point Stars.

Completing the stage unlocks The Haunted Ship.

OverviewEdit

The first area sets Kirby at the edge of a small pool out in a tropical area. Here, he can splash around a bit in the water before moving on to a pipe to the right which will carry him down to the next area.

The next zone features a cyclical underwater tunnel with a counterclockwise current that will carry Kirby along. A pipe can be accessed in the upper-right.

From there, Kirby is dumped into a wide underwater room with no hazards. The game gives the player a hint here as to how to use the rainbow rope to guide Kirby in underwater environments, leading him toward another pipe.

The pipe drops Kirby off in the first set of underwater channels with hazards, as Gordo and Blippers can now be found along the walls and in the corridors. Kirby will need to start by working his way up the initial tunnel, grabbing Point Stars along the way. The first treasure chest can be seen at the top of this area before proceeding to the right past a stronger current.

The next water tunnel features more obstacles to avoid and stars to collect. The second treasure chest can be found in this area.

The third water tunnel starts with a low area where Kirby can collect a Maxim Tomato and some stars. The door to the challenge room can be found just above on the right, and the path continues upward past more Gordos and stars. The fourth treasure chest is located along this ascent.

From here, the music changes, and Kirby is sent careening through a snaking underwater channel with a strong water current. Kirby will need to be quick to maneuver through here and collect as many of the stars along the way as possible, as it is not exactly possible to fight the current without using Star Dashes. At the end, Kirby is dumped into a room where he can collect even more stars before proceeding to the next region.

This next area starts Kirby off by sending him flying upward on a gush of water to reach the surface and dry land once more. This last area contains the final treasure chest, and the roulette wheel shortly afterward to finish the stage.

Treasure How to reach

Treasure 1: Underwater Kirby Figurine
After ascending the first long vertical channel, this treasure chest can be found in a small nook on the left, guarded by metal blocks. Kirby will need to use a Star Dash to get in.

Treasure 2: Blipper Figurine
After ascending the second long vertical tunnel, this chest can be found in another nook on the left, this time unguarded by blocks, but a water current will push Kirby away from it. Another Star Dash may be needed to fight the current and get the chest.

Treasure 3: Milky Way Wishes Track
This chest is found inside a challenge room which is accessed at the start of the third vertical ascent. It tasks Kirby to travel across water currents in a winding tunnel in 15 seconds to grab the chest.

Treasure 4: Green Waddle Dee Figurine
This chest is located out in the open between two lines of Gordos while ascending the third long vertical tunnel.

Treasure 5: Ripple Field Track
After exiting the water, this chest can be found nestled behind a metal block barrier in the cliff just before the end of the stage. A Star Dash is needed to get in.
