This article is about the musical theme associated with various powerups and bosses. For the Sweet Potato powerup itself, see Mint Leaf.

"Sweet Potato Shooting"[Japanese title] refers to a musical piece composed by Jun Ishikawa. It originally was associated with the Mint Leaf (Sweet Potato in Japan) and Superspicy Curry powerups, but has since become a theme associated primarily with Kabula.

Game appearances

Kirby's Dream Land

In Kirby's Dream Land, this track is not exclusive to Kaboola, but used in both of the following scenes:

  • When Kirby takes the Spicy Food;
  • When Kirby takes the Mint Leaf, which is Sweet Potato in the Japanese version due to it being a common cause of hiccups in real life.

Since Kirby must take the Mint Leaf to fight Kaboola in this game, the track plays during this boss battle.

This track can be found as Music 9 in Dream Land's Sound Test.

In the boss rematch on Mt. Dedede, all boss battles play the respective stage theme instead of the boss battle theme or this power-up track, in Kaboola's case.

Kirby Air Ride

Main article: Metal (course)

In Kirby Air Ride, this theme is remixed, titled "Shooting" in the Sound Test, to serve as the alternative music for the course Metal in Top Ride Course, unlocked by taking 1st place in Metal without using Boost.

Kirby Super Star Ultra

In Kirby Super Star Ultra, the new mode Revenge of the King is a spiritual remake of the Extra Mode from Kirby's Dream Land.

Although Kabula doesn't appear in the original Spring Breeze from Kirby Super Star, she returns as a Boss in Mt. Dedede Sky during Revenge of the King. This time, Kirby fights her with the Starship.

Her theme is remixed into a heavy metal version in a fast tempo. This version is titled 飛行砲台カブーラー ("Flying Fortress Kabula") on the Japanese soundtrack, and can be found as Track 86 in Super Star Ultra's Sound Test.

Kabula can only be fought again in The True Arena just like other bosses from Revenge of the King, using the same track of her theme.

Kirby's (Extra) Epic Yarn

In Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, the "Shooting" remix from Air Ride is repurposed to serve as the theme of Tankbot. This version, simply titled "Tankbot", can be found as Track 37 in Epic Yarn's Tunes.

Kirby: Planet Robobot

In Kirby: Planet Robobot, Kabula makes a surprise appearance from the debris of C.O.G.S. in Gigabyte Grounds, now rebuilt as Core Kabula, and challenges a boss battle to Kirby in [[Robobot Armor|Robobot ArmTemplate:Or]] Jet Mode.

Her theme is now remixed with an electronic flair, the tune and the tempo more resembling the original version from Kirby's Dream Land. In addition, a second section is added to her theme, featuring an electric guitar solo.

Core Kabula's Theme is arranged by Hirokazu Ando and titled "Core Kabula Surprise!" in English and まさかのコア・カブーラー ("Surprising Core Kabula") in Japanese. It can be found as Track 35 in Planet Robobot's Jukebox.

Core Kabula can only be fought again in The True Arena, using the same theme.

Kirby's Blowout Blast

In Kirby's Blowout Blast, although neither Kabula nor any power-up item appears, this theme is remixed into a new electronic version to serve as the stage music for Level 5 (EX), including the second section from "Core Kabula Surprise!" with brass instrumentation.

Kirby Star Allies

In Kirby Star Allies, the original version from Kirby's Dream Land is reused in the stage Extra Eclair.

Other appearances

Kabula's theme is featured in Track 1: Big Band Kirby of the Kirby Memorial Arrangements. In this segment, the song is arranged in a salsa style with a piano-based rhythm. This arrangement was done by Megumi Ohara.
