NintendoWiki has more information about this subject here.

StreetPass is a feature on the Nintendo 3DS that allows players to automatically exchange data with others' 3DS consoles. It works when two or more Nintendo 3DS consoles, with wireless communications turned on, pass nearby and electronically "tag" one another.

StreetPass can be enabled for up to twelve games at a time, and will function even when none of them are being played. If the 3DS consoles have any StreetPass-enabled games in common, a successful tag will be indicated by the status light on the system's upper-right corner turning a bright green.

Use in the Kirby series[edit]

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

In Kirby: Triple Deluxe StreetPass is used to exchange keychains and records of The Arena, The True Arena, and Dededetour! with other 3DS consoles.

Kirby Fighters Deluxe[edit]

In Kirby Fighters Deluxe, while not used in the game itself, if StreetPass data is detected for Kirby: Triple Deluxe, the player can use Bell and Beetle in the game, and can also play on the Waddle Dee Train Tracks stage.

Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe[edit]

Similarly to Kirby Fighters Deluxe, Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe does not use StreetPass itself, but if Kirby: Triple Deluxe StreetPass data is detected, the player will unlock masks based on Kirby, Meta Knight, and Waddle Dee.

Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]

The use of StreetPass in Kirby: Planet Robobot is the same as in Triple Deluxe, but allowing the exchange of stickers instead of keychains and Meta Knightmare Returns records instead of Dededetour! records.

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe[edit]

In Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, while not used in the game itself, if StreetPass data is detected for Kirby: Planet Robobot, the player will unlock the Susian Bolt Blade and Haltonium Helm to buy in Magolor's Shoppe.

Kirby's Blowout Blast[edit]

Similarly to Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Kirby's Blowout Blast does not use StreetPass itself, but if the 3DS has StreetPass data for Kirby: Planet Robobot, then after the first stage, special statues of both Kirby in his Robobot Armor and Susie in her Business Suit are added to the Plaza and change the background music to "Flight of Azure" from the same game.

Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn[edit]

In Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, players can use StreetPass to show other players their collected Furniture. Received rooms will appear as preset designs in the Model Room menu, which can be accessed with the shoulder buttons.

Use in other games[edit]

StreetPass Mii Plaza[edit]

StreetPass Mii Plaza is a pre-installed collection of mini-games that incorporate the StreetPass feature. Other players' Miis met through StreetPass and Nintendo Network compatible games are introduced into the Plaza and can join the player in completing these mini-games. Miis can be costumized to wear a variety of hats or outfits, and use themed speech balloons, that are unlocked through the mini-games. It is also possible to view several attributes about their players, such as their country or state of origin, their favorite hobbies, and their most-recently played software. The Plaza's background music will change depending on how many Miis have been gathered.

Originally, StreetPass Mii Plaza only included two mini-games: Puzzle Swap and Find Mii (StreetPass Quest in British English). New content was added through system updates, including new Puzzle Swap panels, Mii outfits, Find Mii II (unlocked after completing Find Mii twice), and several entirely new mini-games as paid DLC.

Mii customization[edit]

The Kirby Hat is unlocked by completing the Gloomy Grotto stage in the mini-game Find Mii. All other Kirby-themed hats and the speech balloon are purchased using plaza tickets, which are won by completing various achievements in the mini-games.

Puzzle Swap[edit]

The mini-game Puzzle Swap has the player collect pieces of "puzzles", which are large image panels featuring various Nintendo characters and games, either by selecting a piece from the visiting Miis' collections or by exchanging 2 Play Coins for a random piece. Once all pieces of a puzzle are collected, it becomes an animated diorama. One of the original seven puzzles was based on Kirby's Adventure; new puzzles were periodically added through updates, which usually offered players one free piece to get their collection started.

  1. Kirby's Dream Land (15 pieces): Kirby stands in a grassy field resembling Cookie Country, doing things like waving at the player and looking around. Parasol Waddle Dees float by in the background.
  2. Kirby's 20th Anniversary (40 pieces): A large sprite of Kirby appears against a blue background. It swings open like a door, revealing the "real" Kirby behind, who waves to the player then stumbles and falls onto a Warp Star. Kirby flies past sprites from older Kirby games until he comes across a Sparkling Star and inhales it to become his 8-bit self. He flies toward the camera and poses like the sprite seen at the beginning, and the animation repeats.
  3. Kirby's Return to Dream Land (40 pieces): Kirby, Bandana Waddle Dee, Meta Knight, and King Dedede all piggyback on each other, running through Cookie Country until they topple over, while Magolor laughs and flies into the Lor Starcutter.
  4. Kirby: Triple Deluxe (40 pieces): Kirby runs through stages resembling Fine Fields, Wild World, and Lollipop Land until he comes across a Miracle Fruit, which he jumps toward.
  5. Kirby Fighters Deluxe / Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe (24 pieces): A two-sided diorama; on one side, King Dedede hops on drums to the beat, while on the other side, four Kirbys duke it out on Dyna Blade's Nest.
  6. Kirby: Planet Robobot (15 pieces): Kirby in his Robobot Armor and Meta Knight fly toward the camera in a pose resembling the game's box art. Susie in her Business Suit can be seen if the camera is tilted to the right. Bandana Waddle Dee can also be spotted if the camera is titled to the upper left.

Kirby characters also appear in the panels for Ultimate NES Remix and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
