A Stadium is an event, occuring after a selectable amount of time runs out in the City Trial mode of Kirby Air Ride. There are eight different types of Stadiums, each automatically chosen at random, and are executed during City Trial. In each Stadium, the player must meet a certain objective, be it gliding an outstretched distance, to defeating a fixed amount of foes.

Types of Stadiums

Air Glider

Air Glider is one of the more common types of Stadium. There is only one such arena, however - no further versions can be unlocked. The main objective is to glide as far as possible, after flying off a ramp, before the player's particular machine hits the ground. The overall distance flown is measured in feet. The length the chosen vehicle actually takes to achieve this goal is unlimited. The player gets one go at achieving the distance, unlike the High Jump Stadium (see below) that allows two tries.

Destruction Derby

Destruction Derby is one of the more violence-over-strategy types of Stadium. Altogether, there are five significant Derby arenas in total. KO-ing a certain amount of opponents (five or ten, depending on that arena), be it human or CPU, at whatever difficulty level, within the fixed time limit unlocks the next consecutive arena. All 5 types of Destruction Derbies possess the objective of KO-ing opponent machines as many times as possible within 90 seconds. Copy Ability panels and power-ups spawn intermittently, and provide a huge advantage to the player picking them up, but are the main locations where confrontations commence. Should a player's machine be destroyed, it will respawn in its last location.

Drag Race

Drag Race is one of the more common types of Stadium. Altogether, there are four significant Drag Race track layouts. Completing one of these courses on a particular machine, under a certain time limit, unlocks the next consecutive track. It is essentially a very straight and narrow Air Ride course, and the objective is, appropriately, to finish in first place. The are opportunities to KO opponents before reaching the finish line. If opponents are KO'd they are marked as "Retired" and they finish last, their time shown in dashes. If two opponents are KO'd, the one that is KO'd first is last while the KO'd second is second-to-last.

High Jump

High Jump is possibly one of the simplest Stadiums. There is only one such arena, however - no further versions can be unlocked. The main objective is to jump/fly as high as possible, after flying off a ramp, before the player's particular machine hits the ground. The maximum altitude flown is measured in feet. The height the chosen machine actually takes to achieve this goal is unlimited. The player, by default, gets two tries, and only the highest altitude achieved of the two counts.

Kirby Melee

Kirby Melee is one of the more violent types of Stadium. There are two significant Kirby Melee arenas available. KO-ing 50 enemies in a single round in the any specific arena checks off a box in the Checklist, and unlocks the second consecutive arena. Common enemies, that appear in any of the Air Ride courses in Time Trial mode, or Air Ride mode, are present in the arena. The main objective is to be the single player that KOs the most overall amount. Should a player's machine be KO-ed by another player, that player is out of the match.

Target Flight

Target Flight is a simplistic Stadium. There is only one such arena, however - no further versions can be unlocked. The entire stage is essentially a game of darts with Air Ride machines, but with a randomized scoreboard. There is always one 100-point square with a shutter that opens and closes, one 50-point square, one 40-point square, and three blank squares worth 0 points. There are squares on the ground between the takeoff ramp and the scoring wall as well, and the 40-point square is also in said area, along with a few 20-point squares. The remaining squares are worth 5 or 10 points. Hitting any part of the shutter of the 100-point square scores zero. Hitting any square makes it blank, so any subsequent Air Ride Machines hitting the same square evidently scores zero.

Single Race

Single Race is possibly one of the simplest Stadiums. This particular stage, as its name suggests, is a single-lap drag race on any of the Air Ride courses that are available, 8 at the start, 9 after the Nebula Belt race course has been unlocked. Overall, the track is fairly simple, being straight and narrow, only housing small hills and bumps. The basic objective, to simply state it, is to survive the single lap, without being damaged by opponents, and place first.

Vs. King DeDeDe

VS. King DeDeDe is a more offensive type of Stadium, similar to Destruction Derby. There is only one event for this type, however - no further versions can be unlocked. As the title suggests, the main objective is to defeat King Dedede within 90 seconds, without all four players getting KO'd. Unlike in Destruction Derby, (see above), getting KO'd in this event retires the player, with Kirby being knocked unconscious, and remaining so, on the ground until the end of the match.
