Spikey is an enemy found in Kirby's Dream Land 2 and Kirby's Block Ball. It resembles a hedgehog or porcupine with pale yellow skin and black spines. Of its face, only two oval, black eyes can be seen, and it possesses flipper-like arms and a pair of round, red feet.

First appearing in the second stage of Big Forest, Spikeys constantly follow Kirby, stopping only at the edge of platforms, or when they reach Kirby. When Spikeys approach Kirby, they stop and bristle up, showing their quills, which harm Kirby if he gets too close. In this state, Spikeys are immobile. If Kirby leaves their vicinity, however, they stop defending themselves, resuming their original form of movement.

Whether or not they are showing their spines, Spikeys can be inhaled for a bonus of 200 points, or defeated using any other attack for 400 points. Swallowing them grants Kirby the Needle ability.

Kirby's Block Ball

Spikey appears as an enemy in this title. It is worth 1000 points when defeated, and will grant the Needle Copy Ability upon defeat.

Trivia

• The Spikeys' way of attacking is very similar to the attack Rick can perform with the Needle ability.
