As soon as this round fellow got his hands on that fancy helmet, he stopped focusing on the important part of being a Spear Cotta Knight--the spear throwing. His aim is really bad now.
— Figurine description of Spear Cotta Knight from Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

Spear Cotta Knight is an enemy which made his first appearance in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. He usually stays in one place, hurling spears at Kirby and Waddle Dee. The spears are hazardous to touch, and Spear Cotta Knight himself is immune to Kirby's regular Touch Dash and Waddle Dee's own spear. Kirby must take him out using a Star Dash or something comparable. Defeating Spear Cotta Knight grants 100 points and 10 Point Stars.

Spear Cotta Knight appears only in The Wild Red Yonder. Two of them can be seen trying to toss their spears at Kirby as he flies by after being shot from a cannon, but miss quite badly, thus explaining their Figurine caption.

In the Kirby novel series

Spear Cotta Knight, as seen in Kirby: Meta Knight and the Puppet Princess

In the Kirby novel series, Spear Cotta Knight appears in Kirby: Meta Knight and the Puppet Princess. He is Baron Gallic's servant who had been brainwashed by the Malice Stone to do his bidding. After Meta Knight shatters the Malice Stone, the spell is broken, and it is revealed that Spear Cotta Knight is actually a servant who works for Claycia in Seventopia.

In Kirby: Meta Knight and the Puppet Princess, Spear Cotta Knight patrols Baron Gallic's hideout to attack any intruders. When the baron takes away Princess Marona and the royal recipe book, Spear Cotta Knight drives his boat-shaped airship as his getaway. Marona pushes Spear Cotta Knight away and forces the airship to crash onto the ground below. This gives Meta Knight an opening to confront Baron Gallic. He finally shatters the Malice Stone, bringing Spear Cotta Knight back to his senses. With the spell finally broken, Spear Cotta Knight does not remember anything that happened, and wonders where he is. Then, he quickly runs back off to his world.
