The Sound Test is a special menu in various Kirby games that allows the unknown reader to listen to the music and/or sound effects of a given title. It is usually unlocked by clearing the Main Game, or an Extra Game, or by attaining 100% Completion.

The Sound Test also usually features a likeness of Kirby with headphones listening in.

In the Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kirby: Planet Robobot Sound Tests, the music can be listened to in an Auto mode, which will automatically play through all the tracks in sequence, and can even keep going while the Nintendo 3DS is in Sleep Mode.

Trivia

  • Early Sound Tests had their lists in hexadecimal, rather than decimal.
  • In Kirby: Triple Deluxe, the main two musical composers were given a special distinction in the Sound Test room. When music plays, the colTemplate:Our of the notes indicates which composer was involved - the red notes signifying the first, who composed music in Kirby's Dream Land and onward, and blue representing the second, who has been composing since Kirby's Adventure. These two composers are likely Jun Ishikawa and Hirokazu Ando respectively.
  • The concept of a Sound Test also carried over to the Super Smash Bros. series, as that was also developed by HAL Laboratory.
