Attack with... familiar fighting moves.
— Kirby & the Amazing Mirror" quote
KatAMSmashIcon.png

The Smash ability is one which allows Kirby to perform a multitude of attacks which were featured in the Super Smash Bros. series. It is obtained by swallowing Master Hand or Crazy Hand. It can perform all of his Special Moves, save for Inhale since Kirby can naturally do this. Instead, it can perform two moves from Fighter. Next to Master, it is the second most powerful ability of the game. Its name comes from the "Smash" part of the series's name. This ability first appeared in Kirby & the Amazing Mirror and later appears in Kirby's Dream Collection.

Smash would later return with an updated moveset in Kirby: Planet Robobot, unlocked by scanning Kirby's Smash Bros. series amiibo into the game. The move here is formally known as Smash Bros.

Trivia

  • The shield in the Planet Robobot version of the ability resembles the bubble shields used in Super Smash Bros, though in this case, it won't break.
    • In addition, the shield is triggered by pressing L/R, and the default way to shield in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is by pressing and holding L or R.
    • Additionally, the Smash Kick and Hammer Flip can be charged for even more damage and/or reach, just like in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U.
