"Seabed Diving" is a theme from Kirby's Return to Dream Land and its remake which serves as the main puzzle room theme for Onion Ocean. The theme was composed by Hirokazu Ando.
Composition[edit]
"Seabed Diving" seems to be a calm, carefree theme in D major that is primarily composed of quiet, reverberated synths that appear to reflect the underwater ambience within its core. The hook of the melody consists of simple semiquavers that feature alternating major-thirteenth notes rising at a mediant-level scale, carried on in a G major scale afterward. Additionally, the first melody sounds peculiarly similar to the opening phrase of "The Adventure Begins" and the second section of "Four Adventurers: Cookie Country"; both themes serve as the game's primary leitmotifs. After said melody is recited a second time, the lead synth develops a tonal alternation between semitones which represents a trill descending to a resolution scale, marking the theme's second section. Following its third recital is a series of tonally quick and active semiquavers played by said synth which remains persistent until the theme hits its loop point. It is accompanied by a chord progression of "D–C–Bm–A#aug–C" while the ambiance coolly materializes in the background.
