Ruins is a musical track from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It plays within Rock Star - Stage 2 and Aqua Star - Stage 4.

Composition

Ruins has an odd time signature compared to most songs in the Kirby series. It runs at roughly 228 beats per minute with the following repeating pattern - 3/6, 3/6, 3/6, 3/8. That is to say, each main measure uses four bars; the first three of which use a 3/6 time signature, and the last of which uses 3/8.

The song's measures do not deviate from each-other, repeating the chorus with various levels of instrumentation and additional melody. The song is notable for its use of bell sounds and a synthetic choir for backup. One of the main instruments is a synthetic low flute-like sound similar in tone to Middle-Eastern instruments such as the Ney.
