The Rainbow Resort theme is composed by Hirokazu Ando for Kirby's Adventure. It first occurred in Kirby's Adventure, and is primarily associated with the level Rainbow Resort, though it does not exclusively appear there.

Composition

Rainbow Resort is a generally low-energy track which plays in a 3/4 time signature. It is notable in the fact that it has appeared several times in the Kirby series since its initial composition, though not as much as the themes for Vegetable Valley or Butter Building. It becomes particularly prominent in Kirby Star Allies, which features three remixes of the theme.

Rainbow Resort's tempo, time signature, and composition are similar to that of the Grape Garden theme.

Kirby's Adventure/Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land

In these games, the Rainbow Resort theme is used for Stages 5 and 6 in Orange Ocean and much of Rainbow Resort expect for Stage 2 which uses the Tower of Mid-Bosses theme, Stage 3 which uses the Grape Garden theme, and Stage 6 which uses the Green Greens theme. It plays during the intro cut-scene for Rainbow Resort and for the first time Kirby visits the level hub, with subsequent visits playing a different theme instead.

In Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. the Rainbow Resort theme plays at slightly more than 163 beats per minute.

The Japanese name given on the Kirby's Adventure soundtrack is 夢と寒冷地の面 (Dream and Cold Area Stages), while the name on The Very Best of Kirby: 52 Hit Tracks and the Japanese Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition Compilation Soundtrack is 寒冷ステージ (Cold Stage).

Kirby Air Ride

An updated cover of the Rainbow Resort theme plays as the alternate theme for the race course Frozen Hillside. The theme can be listened to from the Checklist for Air Ride if the player manages to finish 2 laps on Frozen Hillside in under a minute and 56 seconds.

Kirby: Canvas Curse

The music that plays in Frozen Fantasy is an arrangement of the Rainbow Resort theme.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

An arrangement of the Rainbow Resort theme can be unlocked to be played in the Sound Test.

Kirby Star Allies

A rearrangement of the Rainbow Resort theme with altered melodic structure can be heard in this game in the stages Planet Frostak and Blizzno Moon. Its title in the official soundtrack is ヒャッコル寒冷地 (Cold Area, Frostak).

Starting from Version 3.0.0, a different arrangement of the theme can be heard when viewing the Friends' Getaway Celebration Picture.

Finally, in the medley that plays in levels of Heroes in Another Dimension, "The Legend of Last World", it is the last theme featured.

Other appearances

"Rainbow Resort" is featured on the albums The Very Best of Kirby: 52 Hit Tracks (the Kirby's Adventure version) and Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition Compilation Soundtrack (the Nightmare in Dream Land version). An orchestral arrangement of the theme is featured on the album Kirby Wii Music Selection, as part of a medley in the track ボーナストラック:空の夢と、虹の泉で (Bonus Track: Dreaming of Skies at the Fountain of Rainbows).
