Rainbow Islands
The Rainbow Islands are a group of islands on Pop Star and the main setting of Kirby's Dream Land 2. They are part of Dream Land and the home of Kirby.[1]
The various islands are usually connected by a number of rainbows. Prior to the beginning of Kirby's journey in Kirby's Dream Land 2, however, said rainbows are stolen by Dark Matter.[1] To restore them, Kirby must collect the Rainbow Drops hidden away on each island and defeat the evildoer.
The Rainbow Islands can also be seen in the background in the Obstacle Arena for Slam Hockey, in Kirby Battle Royale.
Geography
From west to east, the archipelago consists of the following seven islands:
Grass Land
- Main article: Grass Land (Kirby's Dream Land 2)
This grassy island is an open field[2] with only a small number of hills, as well as a few small ponds. Whispy Woods makes his home here.
Big Forest
- Main article: Big Forest
As the name implies, Big Forest is densely forested. Its inhabitants live both on the ground as well as in the tree tops. Nruff and Nelly are encountered here.
Ripple Field
- Main article: Ripple Field (Kirby's Dream Land 2)
The bulk of this island is submerged[3], leading to a lot of aquatic creatures like Blippers and Squishys being found here. It is also the home of Sweet Stuff.
Iceberg
- Main article: Iceberg (Kirby's Dream Land 2)
Not unlike the Arctic, Iceberg consists mainly of ice. Master Pengys can be encountered here, as well as the Ice Dragon.
Red Canyon
- Main article: Red Canyon
Red Canyon is a mostly barren island consisting primarily of dry earth and rock. Mr. Shine & Mr. Bright reside here.
Cloudy Park
- Main article: Cloudy Park (Kirby's Dream Land 2)
The main part of this island consists of a gigantic volcano. However, most of its inhabitants have made their homes in the clouds surrounding it, including Kracko. Strong winds are common on and around the isle.
Dark Castle
- Main article: Dark Castle
The large castle taking up most of this flat isle is the residence of King Dedede, as well as many of his stronger minions.
