This article is about the flying purple foes from Kirby's Dream Land 3 and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, and should not be confused with Peran.

Pteran (pronounced with a silent P) is a purple pterodactyl-like enemy which can be seen flying through the air in some stages of Kirby's Dream Land 3 and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. If inhaled, it will yield no ability.

Game appearances

Kirby's Dream Land 3

File:DL3 Pteran Sprite.png The Pteran makes its first appearance in Stage 1 of Ripple Field. There, it swoops into Kirby without warning and try to attack him. If this fails or succeeds, the Pteran will not attack Kirby anymore since the Pteran moved in the opposite direction from Kirby. It can be found in little groups as well.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

K64 Pteran Sprite.png In Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Pteran appears in 3-D in some of the later stages of the game. It acts just about the same as the last game it was in, and will fly gently downward toward Kirby. Once Pteran passes Kirby, he won't need to worry about it, since Pteran is not keen on turning around. If Kirby inhales a Pteran and then hold it above his head, he can use the hapless creature to hang-glide through the air, moving at considerable speed, though he will slowly lose altitude and will not be able to turn around.

Pteran also appears on the 77th Enemy Info Card.
