Protective Bag
File:DL2 Bag.png A Protective Bag (originally just called bag)[1] is an object present in Kirby's Dream Land 2, often found in rooms containing Mid-Bosses. Once all foes guarding the bag have been defeated, the bag will drop if it was hanging from a chain and open up, revealing one of Kirby's friends. Usually, this will be either Rick, Kine, or Coo, but Gooey or Girl blob (Chao in the Japanese version) could also appear from a bag.
Some bags are guaranteed to drop a particular friend when opened, though if Kirby already has that friend, a different one can appear instead. Bags may also open up to reveal nothing at all in this case.
In Kirby Star Allies, Rick & Kine & Coo and Gooey use Protective Bags when Guarding, in explicit reference to Kirby's Dream Land 2. Gooey can also use this technique in Kirby Fighters 2.
Trivia
- If a bag lands on Kirby, it will knock him back as if he was hurt, but deal no damage.
