Thanks for saving me! What's that? You say you're from another world?! Wow! Welcome to Patch Land! You just stick with me, and I'll show you the ropes!
— Prince Fluff in Kirby's Epic Yarn

Prince Fluff (sometimes shortened to just Fluff) is the prince of Patch Land and the secondary main character in Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn. When Yin-Yarn splits Patch Land into seven distinct parts, Prince Fluff travels with Kirby to collect strands of the Magic Yarn and stitch the land back together. In Kirby's Epic Yarn, Prince Fluff serves as the second player character and has the same abilities as Kirby. In Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, Prince Fluff is instead relegated to a non-playable supporting role, and helps Kirby by finding beads and other items for him in stages.

Physical appearance

Prince Fluff has all of the same abilities as Kirby in Kirby's Epic Yarn. Here, Kirby has grabbed Prince Fluff, who takes on the form of a baseball and can be tossed.

Prince Fluff has very similar proportions to Kirby, being small, round, and having large glossy brown eyes. Fluff has a cyan body and orange feet made entirely from strings of yarn. Prince Fluff wears a yellow felt crown which denotes his royal title. Unlike Kirby, Fluff has large felt eyebrows and no cheek blush, and the whites of his eyes are visible. His facial expression is often confident and determined.

Personality

Prince Fluff is friendly and helpful throughout his adventure with Kirby. When Kirby arrives at Patch Land, Prince Fluff welcomes him and shows him around Patch Castle so that he does not feel lost. When Kirby grows hungry, Fluff teaches him how to forage for food in Patch Land. Fluff is also noble and courageous, demonstrated by his determination to defeat Yin-Yarn and bring peace to the inhabitants of Patch Land. Though he is brave, Prince Fluff is also somewhat prideful. When Kirby saves a helpless Prince Fluff from a monster, Fluff thanks Kirby for his help but states that it was not needed.

Kirby's Epic Yarn

Kirby and Prince Fluff become friends.

In Kirby's Epic Yarn, Prince Fluff is first seen being terrorized by a monster at the beginning of the game. Kirby, who was recently sucked into Patch Land by Yin-Yarn's magical sock, turns into a car to save him. After Kirby saves Fluff, the latter reveals his name and position as the ruler of Patch Land. From this point onwards, he can be controlled by the second player of the game. Prince Fluff takes Kirby to his castle to help get him acquainted with the way things work in Patch Land. After Kirby learns the ropes in Patch Castle, Prince Fluff is attacked by a giant blob of yarn called Lickeur who tries to swallow him, and Kirby defeats it, finding the first piece of Magic Yarn. The Magic Yarn stitches Quilty Square and Grass Land back together. Prince Fluff reveals that Yin-Yarn had stolen the Magic Yarn, and that he has to collect the remaining strands to save Patch Land and its inhabitants. Kirby decides to join him, and they begin their journey.

Along the way, Prince Fluff and Kirby engage in a few frivolous activities. For instance, after clearing Grass Land, Kirby gets hungry and tries looking for apples in a tree. Seeing this, Prince Fluff shakes the tree to show Kirby how it's done, but this makes Kirby fall off, and he angrily chases Fluff around in response. Additionally, after clearing Treat Land, the two engage in a no-holds-barred giant cake-eating contest, but the monstrous cake collapses on them in the process due to a poor eating strategy. Despite this, Kirby still emerges victorious after Fluff declares he cannot eat another bite.

Kirby and Prince Fluff join together for some of the Metamortex transformations, such as the Tankbot shown here.

Once seven pieces of Magic Yarn are collected, Patch Land is saved, and Kirby presumes his work finished. However, Meta Knight explains that Yin-Yarn transformed Dream Land into yarn while Kirby was away. Prince Fluff reveals that he owns the matching pair to Yin-Yarn's magic sock, and now that Patch Land is restored, it can be used to travel between the two lands. Kirby and Prince Fluff set off to save Dream Land, and defeat Yin-Yarn in two distinct battles, the latter of which involves the Tankbot transformation. Upon seeing Dream Land and Kirby return to normal, Fluff has to return to his own kingdom, but gives Kirby the magic sock so that they can see each other whenever they wish.

Kirby: Planet Robobot

Prince Fluff appears as a sticker in Kirby: Planet Robobot.

Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn

Fluff still retains his presence in the cutscenes and the Kirby Dance in this title. However, he is no longer available as a playable character. Instead, he will occasionally appear in stages to help Kirby find a star bead or a Ravel Ability.

Kirby's Dream Buffet

In Kirby's Dream Buffet, Prince Fluff appears on a Character Treat, using his artwork from Kirby's Epic Yarn.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Prince Fluff appears as a Primary Spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He is ranked ★ Novice, Grab-type, has one slot and the skill of Weight ↓. In the Spirit Board battle, he is portrayed as a blue Kirby.

Other appearances

A yarn-knitted Prince Fluff hat appears as a collectible hat that the player's Mii can wear in the Nintendo 3DS's pre-installed StreetPass Mii Plaza. It can be obtained at the Exchange Booth for Plaza Tickets that are earned in one of the plaza's purchasable DLC games.
