"VS. Robo Dedede"[derived from Japanese][1] is a track that plays during the final boss fight against Robo Dedede in Kirby's Dream Course. It's threatening, but not too overbearing, as Kirby does battle against the mighty mech. It has made scattered reappearances throughout the series afterward. This track also has a sister track in the form of VS. Robo Dedede: Pinch.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby's Dream Course[edit]

Showdown with Robo Dedede

In its origin game, "VS. Robo Dedede" plays during the battle against Robo Dedede. It's listed as Track 028 in the game's Sound Room.

Kirby's Avalanche[edit]

In Kirby's Avalanche, "VS. Robo Dedede" got remixed for the final challenge against King Dedede in Stage 13 of Competition Mode. This version of the song was done by Einosuke Nagao, and is listed in the Sound Test as Track 09.

Kirby's Toy Box[edit]

In Kirby's Toy Box, "VS. Robo Dedede" doesn't reappear. Rather, the jingle that plays whenever the player restarts one of the games is very similar to the opening of "VS. Robo Dedede", just in a different pitch.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land / Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land and its remake, the song "Pressure Panic" bears a striking resemblance to "VS. Robo Dedede". The track plays in Egg Engines - Stage 5, specifically during the sections of the stage where Kirby has to avoid being crushed by falling blocks from above. Exclusively in the remake, the final crusher segment of the stage uses a different theme instead: Climactic Clash! Robo Dedede. "Pressure Panic" was composed by Jun Ishikawa, and is listed as Track 61 in the game's Jukebox (Track 111 in the remake).

Kirby Fighters Deluxe[edit]

In Kirby Fighters Deluxe, "VS. Robo Dedede" makes its first proper reappearance in around 19 years, being packaged in with three other themes related to King Dedede, for the track "History of Dedede". This track can be heard when fighting King Dedede on Very Hard mode, after having defeated the rest of Team DDD. This medley was arranged by Hirokazu Ando.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]

In Kirby Star Allies, "VS. Robo Dedede" is represented by the return of "Pressure Panic" and "History of Dedede". "Pressure Panic" plays in enemy gauntlets exclusive to Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go!, and "History of Dedede" plays when battling either King Dedede in The Ultimate Choice's Soul Melter difficulty, or when battling Parallel Dedede's first phase in the Soul Melter EX difficulty. "Pressure Panic" is listed as Track 158 in the game's Jukebox, and "History of Dedede" is listed as Track 203.

Kirby's Dream Buffet[edit]

In Kirby's Dream Buffet, "VS. Robo Dedede", in its original state, is brought back as an unlockable track, becoming available to the player after reaching a Gourmet Rank of 121. It's listed as "Kirby's Dream Course: Memorial Song 2", and can occasionally play during races after unlocking it. Also, the "King Dedede Medley" from the Kirby 30th Anniversary Music Festival, which includes an arrangement of "VS. Robo Dedede", can be unlocked in the game as well after reaching the final Gourmet Rank of 135. The song is listed as "Kirby 30th Music Fest: HAL Laboratory Dream Band Song", and if it plays in a Gourmet Grand Prix, it will permeate throughout the entire event, up until the Battle Royale at the end.

Kirby's Dream Buffet also rearranged "VS. Robo Dedede: Pinch" and "VS. Robo Dedede", putting them into a single track that can play during minigames. This track was arranged by Hirokazu Ando.

Other appearances[edit]

As stated earlier, "VS. Robo Dedede" appears in the "King Dedede Medley", performed by the HAL Laboratory Dream Band for the Kirby 30th Anniversary Music Festival. It's the second of the three songs in the medley, and was arranged by Yuuta Ogasawara.
