Nruff and Nelly

File:KDL2NruffNelly.png Nruff and Nelly are the bosses of Big Forest in Kirby's Dream Land 2, appearing in Stage 4. Nruff is the main enemy, having the appearance of a large woolly boar with distended ears, tusks and a monochrome brown coat. Nelly is a smaller boar who looks largely the same, but has its ears tucked in and has white stripes across its back. Several Nellys accompany Nruff in their boss fight, and will keep reappearing until Nruff is defeated.
Battle
In a similar manner to Lololo & Lalala and even more-so Pon & Con, Nruff and her Nellys are fought in a room with three ledges, randomly spawning on one of the latter either from the left or right side of the screen and proceeding to the opposite side. Unlike Lololo & Lalala, Nruff will sometimes jump in order to switch ledges, as well as stopping on occasion to throw bombs at Kirby. As Nruff — like other bosses — cannot be inhaled, the pink hero must use the smaller Nellys, which are worth 200 points when destroyed or 100 when inhaled, for ammunition or attack her with a Copy Ability in order to reduce her health.
Once half of her health is gone, Nruff's paths will become less predictable and her bomb-throwing attacks more frequent. She will also attempt to confuse Kirby on occasion. Once Nruff is defeated, Kirby is awarded 15000 points and gains access to Ripple Field.
Bonus Chance

After completing the boss fight, Kirby can re-enter the stage to participate in a game with the Nellys instead of re-fighting them. In this game, Kirby must collect small stars that move out of the holes while avoiding the Nellys.

Nruff and Nelly make a minor appearance in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!. Nruff and Nelly live in the forest, deep within Acore's roots.
Trivia
- On the official Kirby JP Twitter feed, an illustration was posted for Mother's Day which features Nruff and Nelly in the upper-left corner. This image strongly implies that Nruff is female, and is the mother of the Nellys.
