Instead, Kirby must wait until he reveals his tornado like inside to attack. When Kirby defeats him here he explodes and Kirby heads back to Dream Land for a good night's sleep.

Nightmare is the final boss of Kirby's Adventure and its remake, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. After Nightmare invades the Fountain of Dreams, King Dedede splits up the Star Rod into seven pieces and gives them to his followers, preventing Nightmare from using it to spread bad dreams. Kirby, thinking King Dedede caused the "problem" starts his adventure to find the pieces and reunites them. Once he defeats King Dedede, Nightmare reveals himself and goes into space, with King Dedede spitting Kirby out towards him with the Star Rod. Then the final battle begins. Nightmare starts out as an orb that shoots stars. Kirby has a limited amount of time to defeat him before he retreats and he loses. After Kirby defeats him he drops a warp star then he retreats to another celestial body, but Kirby follows him by a warp star that appeared where he was when he retreated. Now he transforms into a vampire-like being with a tornado-like cloak for a body. Simply attacking Nightmare with the Star Rod, however, won't damage him. Instead, Kirby must wait until he reveals his tornado like inside to attack. When Kirby defeats him here he explodes and Kirby heads back to Dream Land for a good night's sleep.

Nightmare (known as eNeMeE in the dub) is also the main villain in the anime series Kirby: Right Back at Ya! and is responsible for the creation of NightMare Enterprises, also known as NME. He dominates much of the universe. He creates legions of monsters that Kirby fights and the Star Warriors fought before most of them were killed.

Super Smash Bros. series

Nightmare makes an appearance as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. His role is to turn the stages and fighters into complete darkness. This also affects the summoner.

This ball of nightmares came from the Fountain of Dreams, taking nightmares to all of Dream Land. King Dedede sealed it away by shattering the Star Rod, but it was revived when the Star Rod was restored by Kirby. In Smash Bros., it hides the stage and the fighters in pure darkness. This terrible being came from the Fountain of Dreams, bringing bad dreams to all of Dream Land. King Dedede sealed him away by shattering the Star Rod, but when Kirby restored it, Nightmare was able to come back. In this game, he shrouds the stage in darkness, making it impossible for the fighters to see.

Trivia

  • Nightmare, in his first orb form, can actually be inhaled by Kirby. To do this, however, Kirby will need to encounter the orb without the Star Rod, which is not possible without altering the game's code.
    • Nightmare is also the only final boss to be fought in a Kirby game and it's remake.
