Mushroom Run (theme)

"Mushroom Run", named "Theme from Mushroom Run" in the British English version, is a theme from Kirby's Epic Yarn and its remake that plays in the stage with the same name. It was composed by Tomoya Tomita.[1]
Composition[edit]
"Mushroom Run" is a tranquil and cheery theme in F major and 12/8 (or swung 4/4). It starts with a simple piano intro rhythmically and functionally similar to that of "Quilty Square". The main section of this track shares similarities with "Patch Castle". The first section's melody can be seen as a more detached inversion of the latter's. More instruments join for the second section, such as supporting clarinet and a lead oboe, which plays a new melody based on the analogous section of "Patch Castle". The third section features a miniature tutti with intonations resembling the final phrase of "Grass Land". Rather than calming down, the sound builds up and reaches its peak, after which the piano repeats an F in order to smoothly return to the intro and loop.
Game appearances[edit]
Kirby's Epic Yarn / Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn[edit]
In Kirby's Epic Yarn and its remake, "Mushroom Run" plays in the eponymous stage, as well as the first portion of the cutscene "Until Then!". Additionally, a short guitar arrangement based on its main melody serves as the results theme that plays after clearing a stage.
