Mr. Frosty is a recurring Mid-Boss in the Kirby series. He appears in several games, starting with Kirby's Adventure and continuing up to Super Kirby Clash. In Kirby's Adventure and its remake, when inhaled, Kirby gets the Freeze ability. In subsequent games in the series, however, when inhaled, Kirby gets the Ice ability.

Appearance

Mr. Frosty is a white walrus-like creature, who wears black overalls with blue buttons (blue overalls with purple stripes in Kirby: Triple Deluxe) and icy blue shoes. He is occasionally recolTemplate:Ored red or green.

In Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Mr. Frosty gets a deluxe form, known as Mr. Frosty DX. Now he is more of a vanilla colTemplate:Or, with green feet. He has red overalls with yellow stripes. He now has a black mouth instead of a blue one.

Game appearances

Kirby's Adventure/Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land

KA Frosty sprite.png In Kirby's Adventure and its remake, Mr. Frosty appears as one of the first Mid-Bosses. Here is where his familiar battle style was established; namely, his ability to kick block of ice around and swallow Kirby. He is first seen in Vegetable Valley - Stage 4.

Kirby's Pinball Land

Mr. Frosty appears in the lowermost board of Poppy Brothers' Land. Kirby can bump into him to earn 480 points and make his overalls slip for a moment. After being bumped 6 times, Mr. Frosty will change his pose, and should Kirby run into him again, the overalls-wearing walrus will grab him. From there, the player can time a release with the A button to make Mr. Frosty release Kirby in one of four directions.

Kirby's Dream Land 2

Acting exactly the same as in Kirby's Adventure (save for giving Ice instead of Freeze), the walrus reappears in Kirby's Dream Land 2.

Kirby's Block Ball

Mr. Frosty appears as both a regular enemy and as a Boss in Stage 6. As a regular enemy, he takes 4 hits to defeat and is worth 5000 points. As a boss, he has 12 hit points and attacks by rolling around, worth 50000 points when defeated.

Kirby's Toy Box

Mr. Frosty makes two notable appearances in this collection of mini-games, one being the Arrange Ball where nine of them highlight occupied holes and one large lies in the background, and the other in Pinball where he serves as one of the better targets on the board.

Template:KSS KFP and Kirby Super Star Ultra

30 x35
Sprite of Mr. Frosty from Template:KSS KFP

Mr. Frosty is a Mid-Boss once again in [[Kirby Super Star|Template:KSS KFP]] and Kirby Super Star Ultra. He attacks the same way and is first fought at Float Islands. For the first time in the series, he is weak to fire-based attacks.

Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble

KTnT Mr Frosty.png Mr. Frosty makes a somewhat strange appearance in Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble. Here, he is not a mid-boss, nor can he actually harm Kirby. Instead, he appears in Lvl 3-1 riding a surfboard and carrying a Red Star. When Kirby gets close, Mr. Frosty will try to ride away from Kirby, taking the Red Star with him. If Kirby collides directly with Mr. Frosty, he will be bounced away similar to a bumper. Kirby will need to grab the Red Star from Mr. Frosty before the walrus gets away with it.

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror

Mr. Flosty[sic], as he was named in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror.

Mr. Frosty is still a mid-boss in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, now named Mr. Flosty in English. He can throw ice blocks of two different sizes. He is identical to his appearance in Nightmare in Dream Land.

Mr. Flosty can be found in the following rooms:

Mr. Frosty is a mid-boss in [[Kirby: Squeak Squad|Template:KSqS KMoA]], and has the same appearance and attacks as his other appearances.

Kirby Mass Attack

Mr. Frosty appears in the Kirby Mass Attack Sub-Game Kirby Quest as one of Kirby's opponents. He appears in Stage 26 alongside two Oohroo and in Stage 38 with two Fuufuu. He has 480 HP.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe

Mr. Frosty returns as a mid-boss and makes his first 3D appearance in Kirby: Triple Deluxe. Like the other bosses, he also has a DX form. He has a new attack, where he flies around the screen in a cyclone of snow. Despite this, he is arguably the easiest Mid-Boss to defeat in this game.

Mr. Frosty is one of the opponents that must be faced in the Sub-Game Team Kirby Clash. Here, he is much larger and with greater stamina. He also can throw more than one ice block at a time, in an effort to hit multiple Kirbys.

Mr. Frosty returns in the expanded Sub-Game, appearing on three separate occasions to battle Team Kirby. New moves include elaborate acrobatics and quick icy spins.

Kirby Star Allies

Mr. Frosty was the first confirmed Mid Boss to appear in this game. He is somewhat larger than he has been in other main series titles, and has obtained new overalls which no longer have a hole in the rump (though it is still hard to miss). Curiously, unlike the other Mid-Bosses in this title, Mr. Frosty cannot be recruited directly as an ally, instead being replaced by Chilly if a Friend Heart is tossed at him once he's down.

The following is a list of attacks Mr. Frosty can perform as a mid-boss in Kirby Star Allies. Italics denote variations done by his harder variation only.

Mr. Frosty’s attacks as a mid-boss in Kirby Star Allies
Attack Description Variants
Jump Mr. Frosty hops in place once, twice or three times. He may spin around while jumping in place three times.
Charge Mr. Frosty hops back and then runs forward before belly-sliding past a targeted character. He can also be dazed if he runs into a wall. His harder version turns around before belly-sliding. In phase 1, he turns around once. In phase 2, he turns around twice.
Snowball/Snowman Mr. Frosty pulls out a snowball, throws it high in the air and then pushes it forward, either bouncing it along with his butt or pushing it forward with his arms. He might sometimes throw out two snowballs which form a snowman before launching it. The snowman makes higher bounces compared to the snowballs. His regular variation's snowballs and snowmen are small and the snowballs lightly bounce along the ground. His harder variation's snowballs and snowmen are bigger and the snowballs roll on the ground.
Bellyflop Mr. Frosty jumps high in the air and then bellyflops onto a chosen target. The targeted character is flattened temporarily if the attack connects. He can do two small hops before bellyflopping or proceed straight to the bellyflop. When his harder variation lands from a bellyflop, a small ice shard appears in front of Mr. Frosty for a few seconds. His harder variation, should he immediately start bellyflopping, does this three times in a row in the second phase, with the last bellyflop producing the ice shard.
Swallow Charge Mr. Frosty opens his mouth wide and proceeds to dash forward. He will eventually belly-slide if he passes a targeted character that's above him. He can also be dazed if he runs into a wall. If a character gets caught on ground-level, they are quickly eaten and will take rapid damage. Rapidly moving the Control Stick will cause the trapped character to escape faster. The dash Template:Maneuver is done a little bit faster for his harder variation's battle.

Mr. Frosty's regular variation begins with these three attacks:

  • Jump
  • Charge
  • Snowball

After that, he then attacks in a fixed order on loop as follows:

  1. Charge
  2. Bellyflop [three total jumps]
  3. Jump x2
  4. Snowman
  5. Jump x3
  6. Charge
  7. Jump
  8. Jump x3
  9. Snowman

  22. Jump x2
  23. Snowman
  24. Jump x3
  25. Charge
  26. Jump
  27. Jump x3
  28. Snowball

After losing enough health, Mr. Frosty will abruptly switch to this pattern:

  1. Swallow Charge
  2. Jump x2
  3. Snowball x4
  4. Jump x3
  5. Charge
  6. Swallow Charge
  7. Snowball x3 + Snowman
  8. Jump x3

  30. Jump x3
  31. Bellyflop [three total jumps]
  32. Swallow Charge
  33. Snowball
  34. Bellyflop [one total jump]

He also has a harder variation much like all the other mid-bosses with some new attacks and upgrades to his already-existing attacks.

His harder variation begins with this attack:

  • Jump

He then proceeds to attack in a fixed order on loop as follows:

  1. Bellyflop [three total jumps]
  2. Jump x2
  3. Snowball
  4. Jump x2
  5. Charge
  6. Jump x2
  7. Bellyflop [one total jump]

  20. Jump x2
  21. Giant Snowman
  22. Jump x2
  23. Jump x2
  24. Swallow Charge
  25. Jump x2

After losing enough health, Mr. Frosty abruptly switches to this fixed order on loop:

  1. Bellyflop x3
  2. Jump x2
  3. Giant Snowman
  4. Jump x3
  5. Charge
  6. Bellyflop x3
  7. Jump x2

  25. Charge
  26. Bellyflop x3
  27. Jump x2
  28. Snowballs x4
  29. Jump x2
  30. Swallow Charge

Twin Frosty is fought in some stages and on Soul Melter of The Ultimate Choice and comes in two varieties. It can consist of one regular and one hard variation or two hard variations, both of which attack in a different order from each other.

Super Kirby Clash

File:SKC Mr. Frosty.jpg
Mr. Frosty in Super Kirby Clash.

Mr. Frosty returns as an enemy encounter in Super Kirby Clash, serving largely the same role he did in its predecessor. He is faced in four different Quests, and appears with King Doo in Team First Contact and with his similar cohort Mr. Floaty in Team Shimmy.

Attacks

The following are all of Mr. Frosty's attacks in Super Kirby Clash. Note that attack names are conjectural:

Attack Description Variants
Charge Mr. Frosty starts running, and falls on his face after a while. He may stop and gobble up a Kirby he runs into. He may also perform a much quicker run which travels further, but this leaves him dazed afterward.
Triple Charge Mr. Frosty conjures a field of ice around himself and starts running. He turns around twice in fixed intervals to charge again each time before running into a wall at the end and becoming dazed.
Ice Toss Mr. Frosty pulls out blocks of ice, tosses them upward, then hits them forward as they fall back down. These blocks can be broken using an attack. In later quests, he may attempt to throw several at once.
Acrobatics Mr. Frosty pulls back, and then performs a series of quick and long jumps. He finishes with a heavy body slam which can flatten Kirbys underneath. In later quests, these jumps become quicker and more numerous.
Ice Tackle Mr. Frosty starts hovering as he spins and breathes a cone of frost. This move can either be done as Mr. Frosty weaves in and out of the background, or straight forward across the arena.
Ice Toss Tackle Mr. Frosty starts hovering toward the middle of the arena as he spins and breathes a cone of frost. While spinning, he throws out blocks of ice in semi-random trajectories.
