“ | What a happy little ape! Smile and dance, Mookie. Watch him swing and throw his little hammer around... You can tell he's happy to see you. Just look at that smile! Huh? That's not a smile? He's trying to scare us?! Well, uh... it's working now! Yikes! | ” | — Figure description from Kirby and the Forgotten Land |
Mookie is a red hammer-wielding simian-like creature that makes his first appearance in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. He greatly resembles Oohroo from Kirby Mass Attack, and attempts to throw hammers at Kirby or Bandana Waddle Dee if either of them are nearby. Mookie yields a Star Coin when defeated, but he can also be inhaled and swallowed for the Hammer Copy Ability. His hammer when thrown can also be swallowed for the ability.
Mookie's name is possibly a portmanteau of the words "rookie" and "mook", while also invoking "monkey."
Locations
In Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Mookie can be found in the following stages:
Trivia
- Mookie is the first common enemy to yield the Hammer ability. Previously, it could only be obtained from Mid-Bosses, Copy Essences, and other special circumstances.
- Mookie's figure description refers to the behavior of real-world chimpanzees, which is that they "smile" to show their teeth as a threatening display.
