Mirror-world Kirby is a character from Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, appearing, so far, only in that game. As his name implies, he is the alternate Kirby from the Mirror World. He is initially referred to as Shadow Kirby throughout the game, likely because of his dark coloring, but is revealed in the ending as Mirror-world Kirby, who has the duty of protecting the inhabitants of the Mirror World.[1]

Mirror-world Kirby is first seen in the cut-scene where Dark Meta Knight banishes Meta Knight through the Great Dimension Mirror, then shatters the pieces of the mirror, scattering them to the far winds. After Dark Meta Knight leaves the scene, Mirror-world Kirby appears from off-screen, then follows him through the door.

From there, Mirror-world Kirby can be encountered in various places throughout the world. When he appears, it is usually from behind a wall, as a sinister music-queue kicks in. He is not actually hostile, however, and will merely walk into position, then look at Kirby. If Kirby attacks him, he will leave behind a present before being 'dispatched', usually in the form of a 1Up. However, he will not leave a present if Kirby inhales him or does nothing to him. It is unclear why Mirror-world Kirby will only leave a present after being attacked. It is also unclear how he survives being inhaled and swallowed by Kirby.

During the final fight with Dark Mind, Mirror-world Kirby appears to give Kirby another 1Up (or the Master sword if Kirby doesn't already have it), this time making it clear that he is an ally. He appears again after the credits roll on a Warp Star to see the other Kirbys off back to their own dimension. It is here that his true identity is finally revealed.

Trivia

  • Although Mirror-world Kirby does not appear in any other Kirby games, Kirby can take on his likeness using a Spray Paint in Kirby: Squeak Squad.
  • By technical standards, Mirror-world Kirby could be considered a Mid-Boss, as Kirby cannot leave the area until he is dealt with (or leaves of his own volition).
