The Mike is a copy ability that Kirby can obtain. When it is equipped, he is able to sing three times, defeating all enemies on-screen, each time. In more recent games, the Mike defeats enemies in its range, but nowhere else. The first two attacks strike in a relatively straight line, while the third attacks all enemies, as it originally did. This ability can be obtained by swallowing a Walky and Mr. Tick-Tock.

In Kirby's Dream Land, the microphone is an item that Kirby can inhale. When he spits the mike out, however, the microphone's projectile will defeat all enemies it comes in contact with.

In Kirby: Right Back at Ya!

That singing is sickening!
— Escargoon cannot stand the Mike ability in Abusement Park.

Kirby obtains this ability in Fitness Fiend and Abusement Park. Just like in the games, he inhales a Walky. This time, Kirby tries to sing an actual song, which is Kihon wa Maru (the Japanese Kirby: Right Back at Ya! ending theme) the first time he uses it. This also shows that Kirby is tone deaf, which makes his singing bad (the Night Mare Enterprises Salesman even states that "his eardrums couldn't take" the song in Abusement Park) and causes chaos.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U trophy

Image Game Description
SSB4 Cover.png Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Curious what Kirby's singing voice sounds like? Then track down and inhale Mr. Tick-Tock or a Walky! Kirby can copy the Mike ability and then use a mike or megaphone to really let 'er rip. Sometimes he sounds as cute as he looks, but he can also hit those low notes when he wants to rock.

Trivia

  • In Kirby Super Star, the scream Kirby makes with the Stand Microphone was voiced by Masahiro Sakurai. According to him, he says "Chesto!", which is a Japanese battle cry originating from the Satsuma province (now Kagoshima).
  • When Kirby sings his reprise of Kihon wa Maru in Abusement Park, it is possible to hear a sad horn. He even warps the wormhole as he travels through it.
