We'll need to fix something here, the sidebar went berserk when we tried to add another box, similar to ZW's MM box; but for NIWA. Axiomist 06:36, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Will it be possible that we use MW's sidebar coding for here?? Check Template:Smw, or MediaWiki:Sidebar2--Tucayo (Talk)
I'll look for a CSS fix today. _Neo(U) (T) (C)(Home)
Try this in the main.css:
.portlet {
    margin-bottom:0;
}
That will squish them together, but I don't know if it will work entirely. The best thing you can do is give it a try :/_Neo(U) (T) (C)(Home) 20:43, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Tucayo, that doesn't go IN the sidebar page XD
It has to be placed into the skin CSS._Neo(U) (T) (C)(Home) 23:22, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Oh :D Amazing... Tucayo (Talk)

Collapse?

The NIWA list is bound to get longer and longer, I still need to update some of the recent members. But anyway, does anyone think we may need to shrink that list into either a scrolling box or a collapsed field? Or something else. Axiomist (talk) 20:08, 19 November 2010 (CST)

Animal Crossing Forums

The link to Animal Crossing Forums in the sidebar is broken, but I don't know if there's something to change it to or not. I didn't take it out since it's one of Wikirby's affiliates, so I was wondering if someone knew where it's supposed to link to. -Sky (talk) 21:18, 9 November 2011 (CST)

I wish I knew where it's supposed to go or what it even is/was; I never went there when it was working, as I logically didn't expect at the time that WiKirby's affiliation issues would ever concern me. Ax handled the affiliates, and evidently did so in private, so I have not the slightest idea what the deal with any of the non-NIWA affiliates is and I don't know who does, if anyone.--Vellidragon 21:42, 9 November 2011 (CST)
Okay, I feel pretty stupid now. I looked it up in the wayback machine, and it's Jake's (from Nookipedia) old forums; I probably should have known that. XP
Those forums were closed earlier in the year when The Bulletin Board was opened, so it doesn't exist anymore. -Sky (talk) 22:06, 9 November 2011 (CST)
Alright. So, should the link be removed or changed to link to the Bulletin Board? Not 100% on the relation between the old forums and that (and thus the affiliation status).--Vellidragon 11:03, 10 November 2011 (CST)

Please Update for Nintendo Wiki

NIWA has decided to standardize the name as NintendoWiki, with no space. Please update the template to reflect this. Tacopill 17:23, 10 February 2013 (CST)

DK Wiki

"Removed link to DK Wiki, as it has shut down." - I'm seeing nothing about this on DK Wiki or the NIWA forum and it's still listed on the NIWA homepage as a member. Where did this information come from?--Vellidragon (talk) 15:40, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

It likely hasn't actually shut down officially yet, but it certainly was a broken link for me. Talk to Alex95 of Super Mario Wiki if you want to know more. He is the one who gave me this information. --Fubaka (talk) 16:13, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
It's not a broken link right now. It's of course possible that it's going to shut down, but let's not remove member wikis without anything official. If it's still on NIWA, it should probably still be linked here.--Vellidragon (talk) 16:24, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
It has been discussed on DKwiki itself and on Discord. --Raltseye prata med mej 20:27, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
I saw the proposal, but it's had no activity since May without any resolution being posted. If this is happening, let's wait for it to go through NIWA. Like I said, it's officially still a NIWA member as of posting this.--Vellidragon (talk) 21:22, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
If you look at the rc, the people who discussed it there are merging the articles as we speak. Besides, Fubaka asked on NIWA's discord and they confirmed this. I understand that they have not yet been officially excluded but why not be one step ahead? --Raltseye prata med mej 10:51, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
Because that generally means leaking it before the parties involved are ready to announce it to the public. Even if it's definitely happening, we should have probably waited for it to be formally announced first. :/--Vellidragon (talk) 15:07, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

NIWA

Would someone like to remove the NIWA section of the sidebar? it takes up too much space and makes the sidebar look clunky. Thank you Results May Vary (talk) 23:02, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

In the default skin I don't really have a problem with it but in the Monobook skin it does, like you said, take up too much space. --Raltseye prata med mej 23:07, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
I don't think it's fair to stop linking to other NIWA members due to issues with a skin the site wasn't primarily designed for. I wonder if it's possible to make them more compact for that skin only, though... Maybe someone with more experience can look into that some time.--Vellidragon (talk) 03:25, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
Keep in mind that we would still be linking to them on the main page. SmashWiki, by comparison does not link to other NIWA wikis on its sidebar, and only does so on its main page. Same Goes for the Super Mario Wiki and ZeldaWiki. By that account, I think it is fair enough. --Fubaka (talk) 03:30, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
Those links are a lot less prominent, though. It doesn't feel justified to deprive them of traffic from WiKirby and potentially harm our NIWA ties because of Monobook.--Vellidragon (talk) 14:54, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
If you like, I could bring up this thread of discussion with the NIWA community at large and see what they think. They can then decide what ought to be best practice across all of the wikis. --Fubaka (talk) 17:59, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
Okay. I got some quotes from some heads at NIWA. This is a screencap taken from the main NIWA Discord server:
Talk Sidebar Discord Snippet.jpg
As far as I can tell, they will be just fine with us removing the sidebar links. --Fubaka (talk) 18:15, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
I am going to go ahead and remove the NIWA sidebar links now. I think it has been established that NIWA will not miss them. --Fubaka (talk) 17:52, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
Personally, I still don't like this at all. It feels like loosening ties with one the big things that made WiKirby possible over something totally minor that doesn't affect anyone using the proper WiKirby skin (which looks bare and empty now). Is there really no way to have a theme-specific sidebar? (And can someone add the rest of the NIWA wikis to the affiliates page, please?)--Vellidragon (talk) 19:30, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
I promise you the people over at NIWA are totally fine with this. If you want to check in with them yourself, I would once again highly recommend signing up for Discord and joining the various servers. I can assist you if necessary. Also, I can update the affiliates page, but it might have to wait until after tacopill and I have finished updating the wiki software. --Fubaka (talk) 19:36, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
If I may chime in, I think that the NIWA links will not be missed since they're not really used that much I imagine. Besides if one were to reverse your argument, one could argue that the NIWA links more enforces the idea that this is merely a NIWA project and not an independant wiki. Thereby fending off editors who might not know that this is a public wiki for all and not just NIWA peeps. I'm not saying that's how it is but I do believe no harm what so ever will be done by removing them. --Raltseye prata med mej 12:13, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
So, we had a look at our options, and determined that it will not be possible under the current setup to make the NIWA sidebar links exclusive to our custom skin. As such, I think we ought to remove them, since it has been made clear that NIWA will not mind, and they do indeed cause a lot of clutter for monobook users. Do we have your permission to do this, Velli? --Fubaka (talk) 07:07, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
I've looked into it a bit more and it seems we can move the search and toolbox anywhere we want by putting in the words "SEARCH" and "TOOLBOX" as sidebar points. I've just moved them above the NIWA wikis and just under the navigation. Unfortunately, this displays them as empty headings in the *default* skin. Is it possible to edit that one so it dosen't display them in the sidebar?--Vellidragon (talk) 20:52, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
