The Magic Yarn is a special thread-like substance that can be found after defeating Bosses in Kirby's (Extra) Epic Yarn. There are eight strands of Magic Yarn in total, and they are responsible for holding together the seven distinct pieces of Patch Land, as well as granting power to the Magic Socks. Kirby and Prince Fluff embark on a journey to obtain these strands of yarn in order to restore Patch Land after Yin-Yarn had split the kingdom into its seven component pieces. Each strand of Magic Yarn is responsible for holding two lands together, though there is an eighth strand that does not appear to be needed for that purpose, held by Yin-Yarn directly.
Each boss in Patch Land has one strand of Magic Yarn in its grasp, with the exception of the first piece which is held by a hitherto unknown blob creature named Lickeur that appears only in a cut-scene. Yin-Yarn appears to require these strands in order to create/control the bosses he commands. During the fight with the woven sorcerer, Yin-Yarn uses his Magic Yarn strand to conjure enemies and to transform himself into Mega Yin-Yarn.
