"Last Friends"[Japanese title] is the ending cutscene theme of Kirby Star Allies that plays after Void Termina's defeat, called "Star Allies: Return from Afar". It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.

Composition[edit]

Kirby and his friends wave goodbye.

As Void Termina meets its demise, "Last Friends" begins to play as a medley that incorporates the famed leitmotifs: "Suite: The Star-Conquering Traveler" (a whole arrangement of "Song of Supplication"), "Twinkle☆Stars" and "Kirby's Triumphant Return" all in that order. The former part of the medley begins in dramatic attire as Kirby and the Star Allies make their escape with the Star Allies Sparkler. The orchestral instrumentation of "Song of Supplication" slowly begins to simmer down to a calm piano, glockenspiel and harp playing. As the "Twinkle☆Stars" section of the theme is playing, Kirby appears to be unconscious from the supernova-sized explosion but fortunately, his friends manage to discover him amidst the meteorite rubble as well as finding Popstar out in the distance, much to their delight. The strings then join in to lighten the mood. Kirby and his friends celebrate another victory as the Warp Star flies by to take them back home. The piano and glockenspiel then play a reminiscent section of "Kirby's Triumphant Return". Moments after, the piano emits one more light, G-sharp glissando note as Kirby and the Allies wave goodbye. The strings conclude the piece in one last D# major 6th note as the adventure comes to a close.

Other appearances[edit]

Fittingly, "Last Friends" ends the "Suite: The Star-Conquering Traveler" medley from the Kirby 30th Anniversary Music Festival. The medley itself is the tenth in the concert, and was both arranged and conducted by Megumi Ohara.
