Kurron[Japanese title] is a guest character featured in the Kirby novel series, and makes his guest appearance in Kirby: Big Race in Pupupu Land!. He is a magician who works as Kizario's caretaker. Kurron watches over Kizario during the events of the novel and helps him mend his relationship with Peperon, Kizario's pet.

Characteristics[edit]

Kurron is a short human-like old man with stubby legs and pointy ears. He wears a black cloak and a matching black hat with a feather, as well as a vertically striped suit under his cloak. He also has a large mustache.

Kurron is a magician who can cast different kinds of spells, such as levitation and size manipulation, although he considers himself to be a beginner. He does not like to draw attention to himself, but he can be assertive when the situation calls for it. Kurron has a strong sense of responsibility and does not use his magic for unjust, irrational or selfish purposes. His sense of responsibility carries over to his job of overseeing Kizario, whom he raises to become more independent and considerate. Although he can be strict with Kizario, Kurron is respectful of the young master's wishes.

Kizario and Kurron explain their story to everyone.

For a long time prior to the events of Kirby: Big Race in Pupupu Land!, Kurron was Kizario's babysitter. He watched over and disciplined his young master, along with Kizario's pet bear, Peperon. After Kizario was ridiculed for having a miniature bear, he asked Kurron to make Peperon bigger and stronger with magic, but Kurron refused since it was illegal to cast such spells on living beings. Kizario snuck behind his babysitter's back and cast the spell himself, although it worked too well. The giant Peperon escaped to Dream Land, and Kizario set out to find it before Kurron discovered what happened. However, Kurron found out about the situation.

In Dream Land, Kurron followed Kizario from the shadows. Despite his efforts to remain unnoticed, Kurron is briefly spotted by Meta Knight and promptly escapes, leading Meta Knight to suspect he is scheming something together with Kizario. Upon being questioned about it and much to his irritation, Kizario realizes that Kurron is in on the situation. He hopes to find Peperon before Kurron does so he can undo the spell he cast, afraid of being told off.

Meta Knight spots Kurron again near Kizario soon after Kirby accidentally knocks everyone out with the Mike ability. Kurron is wary of the "Spell of Awakening" Kizario had the race contestants perform, but as he speaks to himself, Meta Knight intervenes. Thinking quick, Kurron throws berries at Meta Knight, and by the time Meta Knight realizes there is no danger, Kurron is nowhere to be seen.

Meanwhile, Kirby, who had a midair clash with Mr. Frosty, crashes his Warp Star. While lamenting the destruction of his machine, he notices Kurron. Kurron checks on Kirby, making sure he is okay, and advises the puffball to bring the Warp Star to a repair shop. However, realizing that Kirby is in a tight spot, he decides to use his magic to temporarily fix the Warp Star. Before he has the chance to, Meta Knight arrives and misinterprets the situation. Kirby quickly explains that Kurron simply offered to repair the Star. Kurron then tells them about Kizario's goals in Dream Land.

As Kurron finishes his story, the three hear Walky's screams and conclude that he must've entered Peperon's territory. Kurron magically fixes the Warp Star, and the group takes off and heads towards the forest where the screams came from. They make it just before Peperon tries to lick the newly arrived race contestants clean from chocolate. Saving most of his remarks for later, Kurron asks Kizario to keep Peperon still in order to cast a shrinking spell on it. However, he reproaches Kizario for attempting to hurt the innocent Peperon. A dramatic confrontation between Kizario and his pet ensues, during which Kizario inadvertently steps off the cliff they were on and into a fast-flowing river. Kirby and Peperon join forces to pull Kizario out of the river. Once they are brought back to land, Kurron checks on their well-being and shrinks Peperon back to its normal size. However, during the commotion, the group loses sight of Peperon. Kizario is full of regret, and Meta Knight and Kurron advise him to tell everyone the story behind the conflict.

After Kizario finishes, he gets an alert that a contestant is soon to reach the finish line, so the group heads there. When the race finishes, Kizario's mother, the CEO of Comet TV, calls him and expresses her dissatisfaction with both Kizario and Kurron and penalizes them both for 3 months. However, they are both happy that Kizario and Peperon, who had been picked up by Waddle Dee, were back together again.
