Lvl 8-4 is the last stage of Level 8 in Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble. The boss King Dedede is faced at the end of it, after which the game is complete.

Overview

The stage takes place in a palace setting. The first hall is relatively innocuous, though there are an awful lot of Blockbot statues in the walls. The first obstacle takes the form of a couple gaps which can be crossed using Pop-Up Floors and Boost Pads. From here, Kirby enters a large room where he needs to press six switches to make the Blockbots move out of the way without accidentally touching the Blast Boards surrounding him and avoiding the rotating bar in the middle. From here, Kirby needs to hop between some fast-moving Clouds while avoiding the spiky walls and then hop over a bumper to reach the gate.

In the next area, Kirby needs to find a key to unlock the door, and can find it from a ? Hole behind the rightmost Blockbot in the hall. From there, Kirby can use some Jump Holes to get past some springy bumpers and avoid getting pushed into the spikes. After that, Kirby needs to traverse a grid of Jump Holes on isolated platforms and then reach a Cannon which will fire him a long way across a gap to reach the Warp Star leading to the boss area.

Extra Game

In the Extra Game, the key is hidden behind the leftmost Blockbot instead of the rightmost one.

Boss: King Dedede

Main article: King Dedede

King Dedede walks into the boss room and grabs a star piece, then proceeds to battle Kirby. He has ten HP in this fight, and is dangerous to approach while he is swinging his hammer. He also attacks by charging at Kirby and can throw his hammer like a boomerang. While he has the star, he cannot be hurt, but a well-timed Cannon shot while he is recovering from his charge will knock the star away from him, allowing Kirby to get more hits in using the cannon while Dedede panics. Done quickly enough, Kirby can take King Dedede down by firing into him repeatedly, but otherwise, Dedede will get the star back and continue fighting.

Once King Dedede is defeated, he will start to cry, prompting Kirby to walk over and comfort him. The two will then walk away as the screen fades to black, and the game is complete.

Extra Game

In the Extra Game, the upper wall behind King Dedede is lined with spikes, making any misses with the cannon dangerous.

Star guide

  • Red Star: From the grid of Jump Holes near the cannon at the end, a path of Jump Holes can be followed out into the open abyss on the left side, which leads to a small platform guarded by a bumper. On this platform, the star can be uncovered behind a fragile wall.
