Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is an upcoming remake of Kirby's Return to Dream Land, releasing for the Nintendo Switch on February 24th 2023. It will feature the same story and gameplay as the original, but with a handful of new additions, most notably the new Mecha Copy Ability.[1] In addition, there are several new and returning Sub-Games, such as Magolor's Tome Trackers, Samurai Kirby, Bomb Rally, and Smash Ride, alongside the original Ninja Dojo.[1] It is not yet known if Scope Shot or the Challenge Stages will be returning.

While the game features the same side-scrolling 2.5D gameplay as the original, the graphics have been given an overhaul, giving all the characters strong outlines and increasing the detail and contrast. In addition, the characters (most notably King Dedede) have been updated to their modern looks. Other details include enemies such as Waddle Dees splatting against the screen when hit by Super Ability attacks. Both the title screen for the game as well as the banner art also show a new location - a festive castle-like structure that resembles Magolor - though it is not yet clear exactly what purpose this location will serve.

Copy Abilities

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is set to have every Copy Ability from the original game[2] in addition to the new Mecha ability. It is not yet known which enemy/ies provide this new ability.

Trivia

  • Despite being called Kirby's Adventure Wii in European languages originally, no such name change was done for this remake.[3]
    • This makes Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe the second Kirby remake to use the original game's North American name for the European title. The first was Kirby Super Star Ultra.
  • Notably, Bandana Waddle Dee is referred to by that name in this game, whereas in the original, he was just called "Waddle Dee".
